2 First of all we would like to thank everyone for their generosity over this holiday season. In these hard mes your con nued support is amazing! We would like to share with you one of our greatest happy ending stories this year. In October 2010 Inland Valley Humane Society impounded a young male pit mix. He was near death due to starva on and inten onal neglect. He was pounds under his normal body weight and his teeth were completely worn down do to ea ng rocks trying to relieve his hunger. They immediately began treatment for his medical needs and his greatest need, food and kindness. Remarkably even a er his terrible treatment by humans Simba had a forgiving nature and responded beau fully. A er several months he had regained most of his weight and was enjoying life. He was showered with love, a en on and toys from Inland Valley Humane Society staff. Unfortunately, Inland Valley was not ge ng any response to Simba s campaign so they reached out to us for help. Even though we are close to capacity a er hearing his story there was no way we could say no. Our staff and volunteers also fell in love at first site. Life was once again a joy for Simba. Within a short me a family with a young son visited our shelter, Simba caught their eyes and they were sure he was the dog for them. They decided to go home and discuss their decision to make Simba part of their family. Within days it was decided, the paperwork was done and Simba was going home!! We are proud to share this story with you and hope there will be many more. This success story was only possible due to the coopera on between our organiza on and Inland Valley Humane Society. We would like to thank everyone involved in Simba s rescue and rehab, also Cynthia and Sco Campbell who sponsored Simba during his brief stay with us. Above all we would like to thank the Krone family for giving Simba a well deserved second chance. We will keep you posted on Simbas progress. Hello, Simba now... I have attached some pictures of Simba. He is doing really good. Since his adoption, he did go to VCA for a check up. They said he's good. I attached a picture of him looking out the truck window on the way to VCA. He looks a little skinny to me but they recommend a 3 lb. increase at most. He remains on canned food. He loves his tennis balls. If he doesn't readily find one he picks up rocks. We have made sure that he has about 4-5 balls outside and a full stock inside to replace them. He started barking to protect our house last Thursday. Now he does it regularly. His favorite person is our 9 year old. He feeds him twice a day and plays with him the most. If I go outside he keeps looking at the door to if he's coming out behind me. We took him to a dog park. That did not work out. I think it was too soon. We are letting him adjust to us for now. Aside from a slight issue with our cats, which we are working on, he's a great dog. Thanks, Diana Krone

3 Lauren Eubanks and Girl Scout Troop #11264 choose West End Shelter as the place to do their troop project. They painted a mural in our exercise yard for the dogs. As you can see in the pictures below they did a wonderful job. Many thanks to the girls for their time and a job well done! Next time you come to visit check it out!!! Cub Scout Pack 306-Ontario Wolf Den members, Zach Schnellbach, Joshua Kline & Hans Rosenveldt collected donations for the the pets in the month of December. West End would like to thank them very much for helping out the animals!! Normandie, from Pillows for Paws, has been making pillows for our pets to enjoy. Thank you for all your work and making the pets comfortable here at West End.

4 Our calendar sales have been a great success. If you are interested we do have some left, so if you have not gotten your calendar for 2011 come by the shelter, you can purchase one for $ calendars will go on sale in October for $ We are currently looking for 12 businesses or families to sponsor a month. Thank you for your support!! We would like to thank Miss Poole and her first grade class for all the donations they collected for the animals here at the shelter. Thank you to everybody that entered in to the drawing to win the fire pit!! The winner of the raffle was Juana Cervantes. Check our website, we will have another raffle for Mothers Day. Spring is just around the corner and we are busy planning our fundraising events for the upcoming months. Come and join us for Pet Expo April This always is a great event for us as we adopt out several dogs and cats during the event. Note that our Second Annual WALK-A-THON is October 8 th. Last year was our first one and it was a great success. This year will be even be er as we incorporate what we learned from last year. If you can volunteer for the event, we can use the help, otherwise tell your friends and rela ves to come out for the event. Watch our web site for informa on on this and all of our events. The web is also a great place to learn more aboutwhat we do at the Shelter. October is a busy month as we also have our Second Annual Car show at Chino Airport October 22 nd. You don t have to be a car nut to enjoy this event. Bring the kids and get some fresh air. Many of these cars are works of art. Register your own car if you have a classic or just an interes ng vehicle. Lastly, remember that West End Shelter for Animals does not get public money to operate. We rely on our shot clinic, adop ons, and the generosity of people like you. Ask your friends and family to remember us in their charitable giving plans, and note that your contribu ons to the Shelter are all tax deductable. 6 Mailbox happy endings... Hi Everyone, Here's the little girl I adopted. She's had a bath and now she looks like a supermodel. Apart from a little frightened hissing from my cats, they have gotten used to her. One even eats out of the same bowl with her. I have narrowed it down to Sabrina or Olivia but I still can't decide on her new name. Thanks everyone for taking care of these dear little babies. I hope they all find homes soon. And at least it's good to know that those that don't have a home with you. Amy Hello everyone, Here is a of picture of Cheyenne that I adopted in August, You may remember her, the dog that was thrown out a 2nd story apartment window onto the ground below. The woman that did this was said to be mentally ill by her daughter, who brought Cheyenne to you immediately after that happened. I was told, Cheyenne s hair was so massive and matted, that is what cushioned the blow that allowed her to survive the fall. I have had her teeth cleaned and a new "Do" as you can see in the picture. She is a lovable, active dog that has adapted well to her big yard and new adventures. Thank you for doing all that you do for these wonderful animals and their new owners. Please keep up the good work! Pamela Corl "We adopted Suzie Q from the Shelter in January 2010 and have just celebrated her one year anniversary with us. From the moment we saw Suzie Q we knew she was the right dog for us and she settled into her new surroundings from day one. She loves to play with our neighbors' dogs, namely Sally, Mocha and Nestle and adores her daily walks, plus snuggling up with all her soft toys at night. 7 Mailbox happy endings... Merry Christmas! I just gave the boys their presents (cat toys galore) and I can hear them upstairs jingling and playing very happily. I'm including some pictures I took of them recently, though I was hoping to take a few pictures of them for Christmas, but they are way too busy playing! I hope you enjoy their pictures as much as I enjoy them! Rachel, McQueen & Siriano Dear West End, We just wanted to send you a few photos of Rosie (now Cheeto) so you guys could see how much she has grown! We are absolutely loving her -- she has been a ton of fun and is happy and healthy. The vet was really impressed with how up to date her vaccinations and overall health was, so thank you very much for taking such good care of her.
