Only 5 more school days till Spring break, so make sure you are getting in all your assignments and try to be at school as much as possible! So remember OCMS, It s a great day to be an Eagle!

2 Piggies for Preemies Update So far OCMS students have raised over $2,600 for our Piggies for Preemies fundraiser. Remember, the deadline to turn in your money is 8:00 on Monday morning.

3 Student Articles Shoe Drive By: Jack Barton OCMS has just started a new fundraiser called Friends of the Animal Shelter Shoe Drive. To do this fundraiser, all students can bring in their old shoes that are only gently worn. The shoes cannot be torn badly, but anything still in good condition is up for grabs. It doesn't matter what size the shoes are or even what brand they are. The shoes can even be flip flops or basketball shoes. They can be a size 3 or 13. Anything you can bring will help. What is the purpose of this fundraiser? It's going to help dogs at the Ohio County Animal Shelter. It will help pay to neuter dogs in our county. So your simple donation of shoes you don't even wear anymore would help a dog in need. Now, who wouldn't want to help a dog? Piggies for Preemies By: Amelia Lindsey As most of you know, Piggies for Preemies is going on right now! It is a fundraiser Beta Club is hosting in order to raise money for Preemie babies. All money will be going to Norton Children's Hospital. All students can donate money. In fact, we encourage you to do so. You can participate by bringing in any spare change and dropping it into the piggy that should be on your homeroom teacher's desk. The homeroom that has given the most money by Monday, March 27th, will receive a pizza party! Or, if you are in Beta, you should have checked out a pig to fill up and return by March 24, for one service hour! Please bring in money for Piggies for Preemies! Autism Walk By: Winter Smith This is the 2nd annual autism walk in Ohio County. It will be at Ohio County High School track. It's on Saturday, April 15. It will be from 9:00-12:00pm. You have to register teams by March 30th, and the first 6 members of a team get a free t-shirt. Awards are given for top 3 individual teams and or organization. This event will provide funding for our Local Special Olympics chapter.

4 Things to remember: If your homeroom is not participating in Piggies for Preemies, then you can bring your money into the Media Center. This fundraiser is a service project for the Beta Club and all funds raised will go to Norton s Children s Hospital. 8:00 am on Monday, March 27th, is the deadline to donate. All poetry contest entries are due Monday March 27 by the end of the day. The OCMS Career Fair is Thursday, March 30th. All 8th graders will participate in the Career Fair. Spring Break is April 3rd - 7th.

5 Emily Sisk at State! Emily Sisk recently competed at state for Written Composition for our Academic Team. Out of 124 students she placed 2nd! Congratulations Emily!

6 Art News Some of our Art students at OCMS had their work on display at the Art Guild in Beaver Dam

7 Animal Shelter Shoe Drive We have had a Friends of the Animal Shelter Shoe Drive at OCMS this week. Students were asked to bring in gently worn shoes and turn them into their teachers. The shoes will help in raising funds to spay/neuter dogs and cats at the OC Animal Shelter. Mrs. Geary s class brought in the most shoes and won a pizza party next Tuesday! Thank you to anyone who donated! Total number of shoes donated: 132 Pairs

11 Asset of the Month Other Adult Relationships Students have three or more adults besides their parents that they can turn to for advice, support, and in-depth conversations about issues. This could be coaches, teachers, neighbors, or any caring adult who you can trust and who will support you no matter what you go to them for.
