Murphy (8) Gender: Age: Male 8 months Weight: Activity Level: High (puppy) Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: Unknown Yes Unknown Phoenix Joe Phone: Additional Information: HELLO! Murphy here! A yellow lab mix. I am about to steal your heart only if you have a lot of extra patience and love to share. I am only 8 months old and a special needs puppy. They told me I have a muscle disorder that makes me walk kind of funny sometimes when I first get out of bed. Don't let that scare you because my Dr. said I will live a happy, normal life. I am shy and scared and at first I just wanted to hide from the world. My foster Mom taught me what love and understanding could do for me. I am inexperienced at living as a puppy should, however even as I wobble or prance around the house, there is sparkle in my eyes that was hidden before. I have a new playmate name Pia a 6 year old lab, and I enjoy being around her and her sister Dizzy, a 13 year old lab who likes to relax and sleep a lot. My foster Mom takes me for a walk everyday in the neighborhood, I get nervous really easy but she does take time and is patient with me then I come back and rest in my crate or just hang around with my buddies in the living room. I do my business outside without any problems. I finally mastered the doggy door from watching my foster sisters going in and out! My foster parents are so very proud of me. My foster Mom and Dad have a pool but I don't go in. My sister Pia only sits on the baja steps she doesn't swim either, so I just watch her when she goes and puts her face in the water. I am working very hard to come out of my shell. My foster Mom and Dad say I am a very sweet boy just need extra patience. I don't know about kids or cats yet. My foster mom has dogs only no kids or cats. Their neighbors come over and visit sometimes and say hi to me. I do need to learn a lot as a puppy. For example, I need to know what doggy bed to lay in. I just like the rugs in the living room now. Remember I am only 8 months I'm still a puppy! I will learn as time goes by, sometimes I show interest on your nice floppy slippers or anything I'm interested in if you're not watching. Foster Mom always tell me NO. Sometimes, I think my name is NO not Murphy :) My foster parents said I need to find 17 my special forever parents that would understand my previous history and be patient with me and teach me how to trust again. Again, If you're looking for a special loving puppy I'm the one. Please contact my foster parents.
Monty (4) Gender: Male Age: 8 Weight: 74 lbs. Activity Level: Medium-Low Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: Older Yes Younger Probably Yes Unknown Tucson Liz Phone: Additional Information: Meet Monty, a big hunk of love. Monty was left abandoned in an apartment with some other dogs but we don t know why as he s such a sweet boy. He is a yellow lab about 8 years old and 74 lbs. and was obviously an outdoor dog previously. He has now been house trained and knows how to use a doggy door. He gets along great with other dogs and is really mellow, he hasn t been around cats so we don t know about them. He has been around older kids and seems to enjoy their company but he loves people in general and is always wanting to give out kisses and smiles. He will need someone willing to do some training with him, although he knows sit he does have some bad habits like counter surfing and is tempted to raid the trash can. He just loves to follow his person around and lay next to you on the sofa. If you are looking for an easy going hang out buddy, Monty is your guy. 18
Sage (4) Foster to Adopt *** Foster to Adopt *** Gender: Age: Weight: Male 8 weeks 6 lbs. Activity Level: High (puppy) Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: Yes Yes Yes Phoenix Jessica Phone: Additional Information: My name is Sage. I am an adorable, yellow 8-week old male Labrador mix puppy with a little brown on my muzzle. I was found abandoned in a Tucson apartment with my litter mates and parents before being turned in to Desert Lab Rescue. I'm a puppy so I need patience, training, and exercise as I grow so I can be the best dog ever. I m very playful, friendly, trusting, and curious. I get along great with my two big foster brothers, but I haven t been around any cats yet. Like every puppy my age, potty training is a work in progress. I am a very confident little guy and I love exploring every nook in the house, so it would be best if I had a parent who can watch me while I do that to make sure I m safe. I love to chew almost everything because I m teething, so I need lots of puppy toys to chew on. Also, I will need a home where I won t be left alone for more than 4 hours a day because I'm so young. I am not yet crate trained. I might cry if no other dogs or people are in the room with me, but I will certainly grow out of that in time. It's just that my litter mates were always around me and I'm still adjusting to that. Due to my young age, all current pets in your home MUST be up to date on their vaccines and you ll need to provide proof of that to my foster parents before taking me home. I am available as a foster-to-adopt. What this means is that I am still too young to receive my rabies shot or be neutered so I can still go live in my forever home and DLRR will take care of the remaining vaccines and boosters as well as my neuter when 19 I m ready at 16 weeks. Until then, I can t go to any dog parks, pet stores, or even venture further than my own fenced yard and house for my own safety. If a puppy is what you want, I'm your boy!
Louie (4) Fox Red Gender: Male Age: 2 Weight: 50 lbs. Activity Level: Medium-High Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: Older Some, possibly Probably not Phoenix Judy Phone: Addional Informaon: Louie is a smart, beautiful boy who was found on the streets of Casa Grande and rescued from the pound by DLRR. He is a lean and athletic looking dog whose youthful exuberance and energy are delightful to observe, but also mean he needs a lot of exercise! He could be an excellent running companion for someone who likes to jog, and he could be great at agility training, too. He s house trained and good in the house when left alone, outside of liking to eat socks, so no leaving socks around! When out for walks or riding in the car, Louie sometimes reacts to other dogs, bicycles and scooters, and occasionally people, with bark or two. We aren't sure if he is fearful of them or if he is protecting his people. He loves sniffing, observing, and being outdoors, so a dog door or person that lets him go in and out at will is a must for him in his new home. He enjoys sleeping in his crate, and literally runs to it at bedtime when he gets a treat, but outside of nighttime, he has free range of the house. He is not a big barker at home and he's good in the car. We have not had an opportunity to observe Louie around young children but he loves older ones. Louie has had some obedience training and will sit, lie down, and go to his place on command! He s wonderfully affectionate, and because he wants to get ALL the attention from his people, he would be best as an only dog. Louie 20 is anxious to meet you so call his contact person if you would like to make a date!
Daisy (35) Gender: Female Age: 12 Weight: Activity Level: Low Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: Yes Yes Yes Phoenix Kristen Phone: Additional Information: Hi my name is Daisy(35) and I am 12 year old chunk of chocolate love! I was turned in to DLRR when my dad had to go in to an assisted living home. I have a shorter stature for a lab but I have some extra pounds that need to come off for me to be happy and healthy. I enjoy all 3 of my lab foster siblings in the home. Though I am not as active as they are, I like to watch them play and swim. I love my soft bed and sleep well all snuggled up in it. My ideal home will get me some exercise and work on regaining my girlish figure. I enjoy getting pets and love from my foster mom. I am very gentle so kids in the home would be fine. I think cats would be ok too because I don't show a reaction to much. I have not barked once in my foster home yet. I do really well in the home while foster mom is away at work. I am an easy going girl that would just like to live out my golden years in a comfortable place with a lot of love. Who can't resist a little chocolate? Update: Daisy decided she had enough of watching and decided she was going to swim herself. She is quite the fish now and really enjoys swimming. This will be great exercise for her. 21
DLRR Black Pearls DLRR is committed to saving the lives of Labrador Retrievers, but perhaps these black dogs are the ones who need us most because they simply do not get noticed. According to the President of the Los Angeles SPCA, black dogs are: the hardest to adopt out, they are in shelters the longest and therefore, they are most likely to be euthanized if nothing happens. This unfortunate phenomenon has a name: Black Dog Syndrome. If you are thinking about adopting a dog, please don t overlook black dogs, they are just as loving and wonderful as lighter colored dogs! 23 Rico Gender: Male Age: 9 Weight: 80 lbs. Activity Level: Medium-Low Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: Unknown Yes (see notes) Unknown Tucson Cristan Phone: Addional Informaon: Hello! I'm Rico, a 9 year old 80 pound black lab who was turned in by my owners to the good people of DLRR. I am very tall (so tall my foster mom laughs and calls me a horse!) I am completely housebroken, am not destructive and I have learned to use the doggie door easily. I had other canine companions at my old home that I got along great with but my smaller foster brothers and sisters intimidated me a lot at our first meeting and I'm still a little wary of them--we share the back yard and toys just fine but when they all gather around me I get a little worried. My foster mom says I will need very slow and patient introductions to any new siblings. I get very excited when I see other dogs walking by or encounter them on walks although I normally walk well on a leash. I know basic commands like "sit" and "give five". I take my treats gently and love to snuggle. 23
Charlie (25) Gender: Male Age: 10 Weight: 109 lbs. Activity Level: Low Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: Yes Yes Unknown Phoenix/Florence Jewel Phone: Addional Informaon: Hi, Charlie (25) here and I have to say that I m kind of disappointed that my new forever family hasn t called my foster mom to meet me. I m a 10 year old big, soft teddy bear and an easy dog to have in your home. I love my morning walks so much that I tend to get a little excited when I see my foster mom get my leash. I m very good on the leash and the only time I pull is when I see a bunny. Sure wish I could play with one. I like my naps and going outside to lay around to check out what s going on in the neighborhood. All I really need is for someone to love me, walk me twice a day and feed me breakfast and dinner. See how easy I am? Call my foster mom to meet me, you won t regret it! A note from my foster mom: Charlie had a seizure the morning of October 15, 2018 which fortunately did not seem to have any long term effect. We took him to the vet and all his bloodwork came back normal. The doctor said it could be a one time thing (paws crossed). We have been watching him closely and he has not had another one this past week. 24
Pepper (9) Foster to Adopt *** Foster to Adopt *** Gender: Age: Weight: Male 8 weeks 6 lbs. Activity Level: High (puppy) Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: Yes Yes Yes Phoenix Tracey Phone: Addional Informaon: My name is Pepper (9), but my foster mom calls me Tiny. I'm a little guy now, but I have a big dog personality! I am an adorable, black 8-week old male Labrador mix puppy. I was found abandoned in a Tucson apartment with my litter mates and parents before being turned in to Desert Lab Rescue. I'm a puppy so I need patience, training, and exercise as I grow so I can be the best dog ever. I m very playful, friendly, trusting, and curious. I get along great with my two big foster pups and love to play and wrestle with them and I follow them all over the house. I have been sleeping in my crate at night with minimal fuss and I'm becoming a little more comfortable with my crate every day. Due to my young age, all current pets in your home MUST be up to date on their vaccines and you ll need to provide proof of that to my foster parents before taking me home. I am available as a foster-to-adopt. What this means is that I am still too young to receive my rabies shot or be neutered so I can still go live in my forever home and DLRR will 25 take care of the remaining vaccines and boosters as well as my neuter when I m ready at 16 weeks. Until then, I can t go to any dog parks, pet stores, or even venture further than my own fenced yard and house for my own safety. If a puppy is what you want, I'm your boy!
