THE EAST SUSSEX CAT CLUB 24 th June 2017 Judge: KEITH SCRUTON A small but beautifully run and most enjoyable show. My thanks to Vanessa and the committee for the invitation to judge at the show, I handled some super cats. AC PERSIAN GRAND CHAMPION ADULT MALE As a former breeder and proponent of chocolate series Persians it was with great delight that I judged this class: not one but both entries being rarely seen chocolate series cats. 1 & IGRCH BROCK S GRCH SUGARTUMP PENNYFORTHEGUY (PER bs) M What a beauty, rounded head carrying neat round tipped ears set well apart, large round deep copper orbs, snub nose with fully formed leather and open nostrils, slightly undershot bite, firm chin and well filled cheeks. Muscular cobby body supported by short strong-boned legs and complemented by a short full brush. While not as full as I saw earlier in the year the coat was soft, immaculately presented and showing the most glorious ash undercoat covered by a warm chocolate over the head, body, legs to the tail. And with a fabulous temperament as well. Absolutely scrumptious, a wonderful example of how a smoke should look. R COLIN S GRCH SUGARTUMP SIGN OF THE TIMES (PER b) M A boy that I have long admired as an example of a chocolate Persian. Smoothly contoured head with a fabulous breadth between neat low set ears, round orange eyes, snub nose, undershot and untidy bite, firm chin and well-furnished cheeks. Heavy muscular body looking a touch long at the moment as he changes his coat, short strong legs and full tail to balance. Coat well presented but currently going through the seasonal change with some harsh brindled hair and a ginger tint in places to the warm chocolate. I look forward to seeing him again when his coat has completed the moult. My congratulations to Antony Wainfur, the breeder of these two handsome boys. AV SLH GRAND CHAMPION ADULT Male 1 & IGRCH FRANCIS & BOSWORTH S GRCH ANNARIC OZZY (RGM ns ) M Moderate length head with nicely rounded contours, medium sized well set furnished ears, walnut shaped aquamarine eyes, good break at the nasal bridge, level bite and tapered chin but would like to see slightly more puffiness to the whisker pads. Well-developed rectangular body carried on medium length legs and complemented by a furnished tail. Medium length coat, a touch thin at present. Female 1 & IGRCH JONES S GRCH TIFFANY LARENDA (IMP) (MCO f 03 22) F Feminine head carrying large lynx-tipped ears set vertically and well apart on the head, round eyes with oblique aperture and set, gentle concave curve in profile, high set cheek bones, square muzzle and level bite. Long-backed body carried high on legs standing on large tufted feet; long feathered tail
to balance the body length. Well-presented silky coat with dense black and rich shades of red; triangle to white to the face, white bib on the legs and underneath. R ALLEN S GRCH EMPURRER MASQUERADE (MCO fs 03) F There was little to separate this girl from the winner basically seasonality of the coat. Large well-furnished ears set vertically and well apart, round expressive eyes with oblique aperture and set, curved profile, high set cheek bones, square muzzle and level bite. Well-developed feminine body carried tall on the legs and complemented by a long, feathered tail. Fur showing a silvery undercoat and black and paler shades of red top coat; white bib, paws and tummy Also considered TARRS GRCH PENDLESTAR TARKUSHA MAIA ( SBI a) F A promising youngster with a feminine head carrying medium sized round-tipped ears set well apart, almost round deep blue expressive eyes, proportionate length nose with a dip in the profile, would just like to see slightly fuller cheeks. Small framed body of the correct proportions supported by medium length legs; length of tail to balance. Beautifully presented bluish-white body coat with matching pastel blue points and long matching markings. However, for me, at just over a year old she needs time to mature and hopefully grow on because she still looks like a big kitten and not an Imperial. EXOTIC SH TABBY OR TABBY & WHITE KITTEN 1 & BOB FAIRS FILOSELLE LEATHER N LACE (EXO fs 22) F Charming youngster with a lovely temperament. Rounded head carrying neat round-tipped ears, round copper eyes, snub nose with the leather outlined in black, undershot bite, good depth of chin but with cheeks yet to fill out. Cobby body standing low on short legs and balanced by a short thick tail. Coat developing: clear silver undercoat with nicely marked face, black classic pattern overlaid with shades of red. RED, CREAM OR TORTIE BIRMAN ADULT BOB FINCH S CH SIOLU SNOWWITCH SUMMERS-END ( SBI d) M Adolescent male with medium sized ears set well apart on the head, almost round richly coloured blue eyes, dip in the proportionate length nose, level bite and depth of chin. Moderate sized long-backed body supported by medium length legs with length of tail to balance. Coat now a touch coarse in texture as he approaches the moult and looking a touch overheated. Red points typically showing some tabby markings, good length gloves and gauntlets. RED TABBY SERIES MAINE COON KITTEN 1 & BOB HOLDEN S COONICASTE TANGERINE DREAM (MCO d 22) F What a sweet babe of very promising type. Very large upright ears set well apart on the head and with lynxtips already developed, expressive eyes with oblique aperture and set, gentle concave curve in profile, level bite, high set cheek bones, square muzzle and deep chin. Rectangular body outline, long legs and length of tail to balance. Baby coat of lovely texture with guard hairs lengthening; rich red classic tabby pattern with all elements clearly defined shown against a paler red agouti ground. Later BOV SLH Kitten, congratulations.
2 WHITMARSHS COONFLAKES MORGANA (MCO f 22) F Another promising kitten with large ears set vertically and well separated, round eyes with oblique aperture and set, concave curve in profile, high set cheek bones, square muzzle, level bite and good depth of chin. Longbacked body standing tall on the legs and complemented by a feathered tail. Well-presented brown tabby coat overlaid with shades of red. BROWN/BLUE TABBY (INC BI-COLOUR) MAINE COON NEUTER BOB ELSON S GRCH & IGRPR ISHCUS QUINTESSENTIAL (MCO n 03 22) MN Impressive young male with strong masculine head carrying large lynx-tipped ears set vertically and well apart, large expressive round eyes with oblique aperture and set, proportionate length nose with gentle concave curve in profile, high set cheek bones, strong square muzzle, level bite and good depth of chin. Long-backed muscular body supported by long legs standing on large tufted feet and balance by a long well-furnished tail. Excellent silky coat with warm agouti ground colour and clearly defined classic tabby pattern; white feet, tummy and bib. I later had the pleasure of making him BOV SLH Neuter and he went on to become BOV SLH; many congratulations Also considered FLEMMING S IGRPR COONTASTIC DANCING BRAVE (MCO n 03 22) MN A senior very mature male lacking quite the presence of the winner. Large tipped ears set vertically and with width between, round eyes with oblique aperture and set, gentle concave curve in profile, level but untidy bite, square muzzle and deep chin. Long very heavy body carried high on the legs and balance by a long, feathered tail. Well-presented coat, richly coloured agouti ground and black classic tabby pattern; white to muzzle, bib, legs and tummy. SILVER TABBY SERIES MAINE COON NEUTER BOB not awarded, ELSON S OBIGC & IGRPR NORACOON MOLPOLOLE (MCO fs 03 22) FN I was sorry not to be able to award the BOB to a girl that I have judged in the past but sadly her bite is now not only missing incisor teeth but more significantly- and my reason for not making the award she has gone undershot. AC COLOURPOINTED OR MITTED RAGDOLL NEUTER BOB HAMPSHIRE S GRPR RAGSHAVEN COCO CHANEL (RAG n 04) FN A delightful girl with a superb temperament. Medium sized round-tipped ears set slightly forward and separated by a flat plane, blue eyes, gentle dip in the proportionate length nose, level bite and rounded muzzle. Feminine body of good size carried on medium length legs and balance by a nicely feathered tail. Immaculately presented coat with dense seal points, white chin and under to the tail, white mittens to the front legs and white to the hocks at the rear. 1 & PR GODFREY S PARTYPLACE ROSSLYN (RAG b) FN Feminine head carrying medium sized forward tiled ears set well apart, clear blue eyes, gentle dip in the profile, level bite and rounded muzzle. Well-developed body of good weight and size, medium length legs and wellfurnished tail to balance. Coat of good texture with warm chocolate points; scarab to the head where
the mask is not quite solid and typically paler limbs that you get on pointed breeds, some slight lighter tonal shading to the back. KORAT NEUTER BOB TREACHER S GRPR SALUAY CHUAANG DOW (KOR) MN Strong heartshaped head with good width between large luminous green eyes, large round-tipped ears flared at the base and set high with a large flat forehead between, short nose with slight downward curve, and slight stop, level bite, firm chin and good muzzle. Strong muscular semi-cobby body supported by proportionate length legs standing on oval paws; medium length tapered tail. Single medium length blue coat that is lying close to the body with silver tipping and just the odd white hair. TONKINESE NEUTER BOB MACEYS IGRCH & PR FECHELDEE DAISEYMAY (TOS k 32) FN Mature well-presented lady who I have had the pleasure to judge as an entire. Gently rounded top of head with width between medium sized slightly pricked ears that are broad at the base and have oval tips, well set large expressive aquamarine eyes, moderate wedge with good muzzle and defined whisker pinch, slight nose break, level bite just a touch untidy given her age and depth of chin. Nicely balance moderate length feminine body of good weight carried on slender legs standing on neat oval feet; tapering tail to balance. Short, close-lying coat just a touch open down the spine but given the weather it is not surprising well defined caramel tortie with the brownish-grey base colour showing a clear metallic sheen broken throughout with apricot and merging into slightly darker head legs and tail. AV PERSIAN TITLED ADULT 1 BROCK S GRCH SUGARTUMP PENNYFORTHEGUY already reported on above. 2 PARKES CH LADYGEM FORGET ME NOT (PER n 03 22) F Attractive lady with rounded head carrying neat well set ears, round rich copper eyes, very deep stop, slightly undershot bite, firm chin and full cheeks. Cobby body standing low and balanced by a short full tail. Wellpresented coat with rich brown tabby to head and tail. AV SLH ADOLESCENT ADULT 1 FINCH S CH MUSRAFY SNOWWITCH INDIRA (SIB n 03 22) F Short broad wedge with rounded contours, medium sized round-tipped ears set well apart, slightly oval eyes, slight concave profile line, low set cheek bones, level bite and slightly rounded chin. Adolescent body of good shape and size, medium length legs and tail to balance. Good coat textures and presentation. 2 CANDLER S KATTJEWELS PHOEBE (NFO g) F Sweet young adult with triangular head sporting moderate sized ears set vertically and set so that the lines of the ears follow the line of the head to the chin, straight profile giving that snooty look, oval eyes, level bite and depth of chin.
Feminine body of good length carried high on the legs and balanced by a well-feathered tail. Wellgroomed coat with coarse top and woolly undercoat. 3 TARRS GRCH PENDLESTAR TARKUSHA MAIA already reported on above. AV SLH JUNIOR ADULT 1 WHITMARSHS CH COONFLAKES KILKENNY (MCO n 22) M Not yet a year old and looking mature for her age. Large lynx-tipped ears set vertically and well apart, expressive round eyes with oblique shape and set, gently curved profile, square muzzle and level bite. Long welldeveloped body standing tall on the legs and complemented by a long flowing tail. Excellent coat texture and presentation showing a clearly defined classic pattern with warm agouti ground. AV SLH LIMIT KITTEN 1 WHITMARSHS COONFLKES MORGANA already reported on above. AV SLH NON-BREEDERS NEUTER 1 ELSON S GRCH & IGRPR ISHCUS QUINTESSENTIAL already reported on above. 2 CAMILLERI S IGRPR CHEHAM MASTERCHESTER (RGM a 03 32) MN Masculine head with nicely rounded contours, medium sized well-set ears, walnut shaped aqua eyes, good nose break, puffy whisker pads, level bite and depth of chin. Rectangular muscular body carried on medium length legs with a proportionate length tail to balance. Good density of coat for the time of year. 3 HAMPSHIRE S GRPR RAGSHAVEN COCO CHANEL already reported on above. AV SLH DEBUTANTS NEUTER 1 FRANCIS CATSAMORIE SWEETCHLOE (RGM a 03 32) FN Mature lady of good type with head showing nicely rounded contours, well set medium sized ears, walnut shaped aqua eyes, break at the nasal bridge, level bite and puffed whisker pads. Rectangular body outline, medium length legs and feather tail to balance. Well-presented coat. 2 PHILLIPS S MUSRAFY POLYARNY (SIB n 03 24) MN Only just adult and needing to mature. AV SLH VETERAN NEUTER 1 FLEMING S IGRPR COONTASTIC DANCING BRAVE already reported on above.
