1 West of Scotland Cat Show 15 th December 2012 Show Report from Sharara Crichton Friendly and happy well run show which ran like clockwork at this very busy time of year before Christmas. My thanks to the club and show managers Ian and Caroline Thomson for the invitation. Thanks also to Pina, my knowledgeable and excellent steward, who handled the cats with care and consideration and I thank her for her good company and help on the day. I had the added pleasure of selecting the Overall Best in Show Persian as well as the Overall semi longhair Adult and Kitten which was most enjoyable as the quality of exhibits was exceptional. Among those that left a lasting impression was a delightful green eyed Silver Shaded longhair kitten, Zilva Jacobite Raider, who had beautiful type and a coat to match. There were several semi longhairs who need to be mentioned, a large silver and white maine coon boy, GR CH Julescoon Coolhand Luke who was very regal sitting in his pen and a lovely tortie tabby and white girl, CH Weesams Dolly Daydream who was delightful when handled. However, a fabulous green eyed white Norwegian forest kitten, Elfentanz Augustus, who had excellent type and a lovely coat together with the most delightful nature was the one I selected for Best Semi longhair exhibit and I was later thrilled to see that he was selected for Overall Best in show Exhibit which was well deserved. Congratulations! BREED CLASSES Grand Class AC Non-Self Persian Champion Adult Female 1 GR CC Smith s CH ZILVA ANGELICA PICKLES A lovely chinchilla female nearing three years of age with very good type and medium size body. Short legs supported a firm very cobby body with a well rounded rump and clothed in a soft silky well prepared coat. The head was very broad and had well spaced small ears that had long silver ear feathers. Short broad nose with a good stop and a pink nose leather edged with black. The cheeks were full and rounded and she had a strong deep chin and a good level bite. Lovely large round eyes had good blue green colour and a soft gentle expression. The chin, bib and underside of the body were pure white while the upper part of the body was tipped lightly with black and was slightly heavier on the rump. The paw pads were black and the paws were short and rounded. The coat was long and full with a long silvery white frill and had a short very fluffy tail. A gentle cat who handled easily and who was well presented. Res. Short s CH TROUILLORD JEZZABELLE Another very pretty girl, a seal tortie colourpoint, who was just one and a half years old and who was also very worthy of a grand certificate. I was sad to have to pick between these two exhibits and on another day the placings could be reversed. She had lovely type with good broad head shape that had well placed small ears showing distinct tortie colouring. Short broad snub nose with a good nose break and fully rounded fat cheeks, broad muzzle, a very strong deep balanced chin and a near level bite. Very large eyes had pleasing blue colour that was just a little deeper in the centre and with a most appealing soulful expression. She had a fully formed mask that was well coloured with seal brown and shades of red. The other points had tortie colours and the coat was very thick, dense, 1 P a g e

2 long and very full with a long frill, very fluffy trousers and a thick bushy short tail. It was of a creamy shade that was a little shady over her back. A real sweetie when handled, very relaxed and who enjoyed the attention. I loved her type and she was too sweet to be called Jezzabelle! Grand Class AC Non-Self Persian Premier Neuter Male 1 GR PC Black s PR STUPENDUS BARNABY A cream and white bicolour boy who was just over a year and seven months of age and who was just a real teddy bear! He had good type with a very broad top of head, well rounded and carrying neat round tipped ears with long ear feathers, spaced well apart. Large round eyes, very bold and with lovely deep copper colour. Broad short nose with a strong stop and a bright pink nose leather. Full rounded cheeks, broad white muzzle with fat whisker pads, deep balanced chin with a scissor bite. Thick neck with a very heavy solid body and large rounded rump. Strong three trunk legs with large rounded paws. The coat was of a mid cream shade, just a little woolly in texture and was a sound cream, dense with a frill, fluffy trousers and a short bushy tail. The muzzle, chin, bib and underside of the body were pure white and he had four white socks while his back and tail were fully cream. A gentle boy with a delightful nature. Red Self Neuter BOB Coleman s PR BAUDRONS BAGPUSS HIGHLANDA A very well built cobby large solid boy who was very heavy in weight and who is not yet two years old. Strong legs supported his frame which had a huge rounded rump, thick neck and broad chest. Very broad head with wide set ears of medium size. Beautiful large round eyes with deep copper colour and truly bold persian expression. Very short broad snub nose with a full size pink nose leather and large nostrils. Full rounded chubby cheeks and a broad muzzle, firm deep chin and a very wide level bite. The coat was of medium length, thick and full and was soft and well prepared with a short frill framing his face and fluffy trousers and ending with a medium length fluffy tail. Coat colour was a very rich shade of red and consequently showing some classic tabby pattern in places on the flanks and tail and which would have been less obvious should he have had better length of coat. A gentle boy who handled easily and who was perfectly presented. MISCELLANEOUS CLASSES AV Persian or SLH Adult Excluding Certificate Winners 1 Gregson s JULESCOON ESTELLE A very pretty brown tabby and white maine coon girl of eleven months who was very well grown with a long body, elegant neck and square ending rump. Strong legs with good boning and large rounded paws. Medium length head with correct proportions being slightly longer than the width and with well spaced ears that were tall, pointed and open, sitting proud on the head and flaunting long black tufts. Uniform width nose had a shallow curve at the nasal bridge and has a full pink nose leather. The muzzle shape was very square and had fat white whisker pads showing tabby spots. The chin was deep and firm and she had a level bite. Her eyes had a lovely wideawake expression and were large and round with greenish eye colour and were set slightly oblique and had pale spectacles. 2 P a g e

3 The bib and underside were white and she had four white paws. The coat was soft and glossy and shorter over the head with a ruff already forming and the coat was shaggy on her tummy and trousers. The classic tabby pattern was very distinct on the face and body and she had clear bracelets and a long ringed tail that had long flowing fur and tapered towards the tip. 2 Green s JULESCOON ISISY A nine month old tortie silver classic tabby girl with good type and build. Medium length head which was a little square in shape having the face length and width more or less equal. Tall pointed ears were sited far apart and sitting proud on top and were open at the base and had long black ear tufts. Large round eyes were set slightly oblique and had greenish yellow colour and were circled with pale spectacles. The muzzle was fairly square in shape and had clear tabby spots. Her nose was not quite uniform in width and had a very shallow curve at the nasal bridge which could have been more concave. The chin was firm and tapering giving the face a slightly pointed shape and the bite was level. Body shape was long and rectangular and was well grown with a square ending rump. Legs were muscular and the paws were large and rounded. Her coat was longer on the body and with a glossy topcoat and a full ruff framing her face. The face had clear tabby pattern visible. Tortie colours were evident throughout the coat and she had a long flowing tail and distinct barring on her legs. A very relaxed girl when handled who was well shown. AV Persian or SLH Aristocrat Adult 1 Gregson s JULESCOON MARK CAVENDISH A well built brown tabby and white boy who is just eleven months of age but already with good physique having a long rectangular body, square ending rump set on strong well boned legs with large white tufted paws. Medium length head of correct proportions having the length slightly greater than the width. Tall open ears, pointed with long black tufts and sitting well apart on the skull. A shallow concave curve at the nasal bridge in the uniform width nose. Good square muzzle showing tabby spots and with fat whisker pads and long whiskers. Oblique eye set with large round yellowish eyes circled with pale spectacles. Firm white chin and a level bite. The bib and underside were white and he had four white paws. The tabby pattern was clear over the body and head and the coat was shaggy and of good length on his tummy and breeches. The tail was very long and well furnished with flowing fur and had a slightly tapering tip. A fellow with a wonderful relaxed nature and a promising future. 2 Gardner s LIONMAINE MOULIN ROUGE A tortie tabby and white maine coon girl nearing two years of age who had a very bright tortie tabby coat that was very appealing. She was large and long in the body with a rectangular shape, square ending rump and an elegant neck. Strong legs with good boning had large paws that were well tufted. Medium head shape with fairly tall pointed ears that had black tufts and which were open at the base. Eyes of greenish yellow were large and round in shape and had oblique setting in the face. Excellent square muzzle with good cheek width and a uniform nose that had a shallow curve in profile and a pink nose leather. White areas of coat were pristine and she had a white bib and underside with four white socks. The coat had a glossy topcoat and was shaggy on the trunk and 3 P a g e

4 showing clear tabby pattern visible on face and body and the tail was long and well furnished. A very relaxed exhibit who was delightful to handle. 3 Bremner s TUYET KLODA A very attractive brown tabby norwegian forest girl with good type and showing a perfect profile with a straight nose that had a pink nose leather outlined with black in a very triangular shaped face that had equilateral dimensions. Large ears were well opened, wide at the base and followed the lines of the sides of the face and had pale ear feathers and tufts. The muzzle was spotted, the chin was firm and the bite was level. Expressive green eyes had a slightly oblique setting in the face and were oval in shape and circled with pale spectacles. Body was well grown and firm with strong well boned legs that had tufted paws and the hind legs were set high. The coat was soft and double and had glossy guard hairs showing good tabby pattern on the head, face and body and she had a full ruff framing the face and shaggy trousers and a long bushy tail. 4 Forbes s WEESAMS KATJA AV Persian or SLH Novice Kitten A lovely kitten class, full of quality, that deserved the extra placings. 1 Kilmartin s COONFLAKES LEXINGTON A delightful tortie silver classic tabby kitten of four months of age with good type and who had a well grown body for her age, of correct shape, being long in the body, rectangular in shape with strong well muscled legs and rounded paws. Head shape showing correct proportions with the width slightly less than the length and of medium size. Tall pointed ears sat well on top and had tufts and ear feathers covering the wide ear bases and well feathered. The profile had a nose of uniform width with a shallow concave curve and a pink nose leather edged with black. Soulful large eyes, rounded in shape, had yellow colour and were set oblique in the face. The muzzle was very square and showing tabby spots and she had a firm chin with a level bite. Bib and underside were pure white and all four feet had white paws while the body was showing a silvery undercoat with tortie colouring overlaid with tabby pattern. The coat was fairly long on the trunk and was glossy and had a long well furnished tail. A kitten that was developing well and who was a real sweetie when handled. 2 Craig and Bell s SHEERBLISS MIRICLEOF JOY A favourite babe of mine who is now six months old. She is a black silver spotted tabby and white exotic girl with excellent type who has a lovely exotic facial expression that cannot fail to please. Strong rounded head with neat well sited ears. Beautiful large round eyes with muddy colour that will be very good later and a delightful bold expression. Short snub nose with a tiny pink nose leather. Fat chubby cheeks that were well rounded. Broad muzzle, strong chin and a level bite. Cobby body shape, firm and solid set low on strong legs with short fat paws. Excellent dense plush coat that was soft and stood out well from the body and had perfect tabby pattern throughout face, head and body and ending with a short thick tail with super dense black rings. A real sweetie with a delightful temperament. 4 P a g e

5 Extra 2 Wright s POWERKATZ INSPIRATION A very sweet tortie classic silver tabby and white girl with excellent build having a long lean body which was a good weight, elegant neck and square rump set on strong legs with large paws. She was not quite nine months old. Head of medium size had well opened tall ears, pointed sitting far apart with short tufts. Her nose was of uniform width and had a pink nose leather and a shallow concave curve at the nasal bridge. The muzzle was fairly square and she had a firm chin and a level bite. Eyes were oblique set, large and round with yellowish colour and a very appealing expression. The coat was short over her head with a ruff developing and the fur was glossy and longer over the back breeches and shaggy on her tummy. Tortie colours were bright on her face which had a blaze over the nose and forehead and clear tabby pattern present and also was very clearly defined over the body with a silvery undercoat. The bib and underside were white and she had four white well tufted paws. A friendly girl who was happy to be admired and who was well shown. 3 Leitch s SUPATOFT MISTIQUE Attractive usual somali girl of six months who had good type and a sturdy firm body with well boned legs. Moderate size head with large ears set well apart. Nose had a shallow break in profile and her eyes were oval shaped with amber eye colour, circled with pale spectacles and with a bright alert expression. She had a firm chin and spotted muzzle. The coat was a warm rich brown colour and was very well ticked with black. She had a dark line down her spine which continued to run along the upper part of her tail which was of a good length. A little growly when handled but it was only rude language for us! Extra 3 Pringle s ELFENTANZ ANASTASIA A green eyed white norwegian forest kitten of six months of age with good type who was well grown with a strong firm muscular body of good size for her age, set on sturdy legs. Correct triangular head shape where all sides were equal and with tall, well feathered ears that were large and in line with the sides of the face and spaced well apart but lacking ear tufts. The forehead was slightly rounded and had a tiny blue smudge. Good almost straight profile with a long uniform width nose and a pink nose leather. Eyes were oval in shape and had a slightly oblique setting with green eye colour and bright expression. Rounded muzzle with a shallow chin that falls away a little. The body was clothed in a long white coat that was thick with fluffy trousers and a long full tail. A very attractive and promising kitten who was very relaxed and happy to be admired. AV Persian or SLH Novice Neuter 1 Morton s SHEERBLISS LARA Cute cheeky faced black tabby and white exotic girl with good type and who is one and a half years old. Strong firm body shape, cobby shape with strong legs, fat paws and a broad rounded head. Neat well set ears with rounded tips. Large eyes, bold and rounded in shape had excellent copper colour and showing spectacles. Very short nose with an extremely strong stop and a pink nose leather. Broad muzzle showing tabby spots and with fat whisker pads, chubby cheeks that were well rounded, a shallow chin which could have been deeper and a scissor bite. The face had a most appealing expression and had very distinct tabby pattern on the upper areas with white on the right muzzle and chin. The bib and underside were white and she had white socks that were quite high on 5 P a g e

6 the legs. Tabby markings on the body were excellent as she had a clear butterfly over the shoulders and three strong spine lines down her back. The tail was short, thick and very well ringed. Coat texture was prefect being thick, dense, very plush and soft. A super natured girl who was in good condition. 2 McGurk s ARMORICA GUIDINGSTAR An eleven month old silver classic tabby maine coon girl with pleasing type and heavy build. Body shape was long and rectangular with a square ending rump, fairly long neck and sturdy well boned legs with large paws. Medium head with the length slightly longer than the width and had tall pointed ears flaunting long ear tufts and pale ear feathers covering wide ear bases. The profile had a shallow concave curve at the nasal bridge and was of uniform width and had a pink nose leather edged with black. Attractive eyes that were large and fully round with yellowish eye colour and set slightly oblique in the face and surrounded by pale spectacles. Very well developed square muzzle with fat whisker pads and which had tabby spots. The chin was balanced and firm and she had a level bite. A short ruff was filling out well and she had a full coat that was longer on the trunk and shorter over the head. The face had clear tabby lines but the body markings were more diffuse. A very long flowing tail completed the picture and tapered gently at the tip. A well presented girl who was promising and who had a very pleasing expression. 6 P a g e
