1 As we move forward the FKSPCA is working to implement programs to help the pet owners of our community who have suffered as a result of Irma. The FKSPCA will be holding free clinics to provide routine wellness and medical As we enter the sixth week post-irma we look back on previous weeks with a feeling of gratitude and appreciation. The support the FKSPCA received preand post-irma has been amazing and heartwarming. Thanks to the support of this community we were able to foster 197 animals to safety prior to the storm. This enabled the staff of the FKSPCA to breathe easy knowing the animals were out of harm's way and, more importantly, these foster families saved lives. After the storm the FKSPCA began to receive offers of help from individuals, foundations, corporations and animal welfare partners. This support enabled the FKSPCA to provide food, vet care and temporary housing for animals belonging to displaced community residents and for animals in the community that were left during the storm. The outpouring of concern and support will never be forgotten.

We will also continue to provide free shelter through our FAITH program for residents needing someplace for their pet to go while they find shelter themselves. 5 "Tiny," the Goofball Tiny is still looking for a home! This big handsome American Bulldog is all heart and not a mean bone about him. Tiny's been in foster now for 6 months (what??!!), making it impossible to understand why this easy going guy has not yet found a forever home. He has fit in as a pack mate with his foster siblings, is a very proficient swimmer and has developed an aptitude for chasing iguanas and being an active member of his foster home's "yard guard," keeping it safe from imposters. Lovable, playful and attentive, Tiny loves sunning himself outside, taking short walks (he is approaching 8 years, and he prefers A/C over humidity), catching treats and giving big smooches. His big lips do make for some slippery strings of slobber, but if you want a smart, affectionate, snuggly couch potato stop by the Marathon Campus or call them at to schedule a meet and greet!

8 Meet "Fencey" Fencey could be the cat for you! Fencey was found wandering the streets of Key West almost 2 years ago and didn't have anyone to claim him. Fencey is incredibly cuddly, loves to be scratched and makes biscuits by just seeing a person! He isn't super fond of other felines, so he would do best in a cat

11 Meet "Whiskers" Whiskers is sweet senior looking for a home! She was found as a stray on Duval Street and her owner could not be found. Extremely affectionate, she loves attention and will meow when she wants some belly rubs. Whiskers is diabetic, a special-needs cat that requires insulin shots twice daily and has specific food to eat, but she is worth the extra effort! She is playful, cuddly and could be friends with another cat. She has lived at our shelter for 1 ½ years and is ready for a family! Stop by the Key West campus to meet this lovely girl. It's Easy! 12 They were so glad they were able to help foster during this big storm and open their home up to Jesse. Thank you so much Mieshelle, Jake, Penny, & Jesse! Interested in being a Hurricane Foster for either our Key West or Marathon Campus? During a hurricane or tropical storm, we MUST evacuate every animal from each shelter into secure homes until it is safe for them to return to our shelter. Irma presented exactly this challenge. Because our buildings can flood and are susceptible to damage in rain and high winds it is very dangerous to leave animals there during inclement weather. You can help by signing up to be a Hurricane Foster and in the event we have to evacuate, we will have your information readily available to contact you with an animal in need. Stop by either the Key West or Marathon Campus to fill out the application and be on our foster list today! Hurricane Irma, A Foster Failure Mieshelle and family fostered Jesse during Hurricane Irma and when it was time to bring her back, they decided they were in love! Mishelle said Jesse is very happy to have a home and a kitty sister. She is getting along great with their other cat, Penny (formerly known as Sara), who they adopted from from our shelter a year ago!
