6 SCHEDULE OF POINTS FOR DIVISION 1 EFFECTIVE MAY 15, 2015 The Points toward a Championship shall be awarded to the Winners Dog and Bitch of each breed or variety based on the actual number of dogs or bitches competing in that breed or variety. If the dog designated Winners Dog or Winners Bitch is also awarded Best of Breed or Variety, the dogs of both sexes that have been entered or Best of Breed or Variety competition and that have been defeated in such competition, shall be counted in addition to the dogs that completed in the regular classes for its sex in calculating championship points. If the dog designated Winners Dog or Winners Bitch is also awarded Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed or Variety, the dogs of its own sex that have been entered for Best of Breed or Variety competition that have been defeated in competition for Best of Opposite Sex, shall be counted in addition to the dogs that completed in the regular classes for its sex in calculating championship points. After points have been computed for Winners Dog and Winners Bitch subject to the above two stipulations, the dog awarded the Best of Winners shall be credited with the number of points calculated for Winners Dog or Winners Bitch, whichever is greater. In counting the number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified, or that is dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge, or from which all awards are withheld shall not be included. 7 WELCOME TO OUR DOG SHOWS PLEASE, DON'T FORGET TO: ASK BEFORE TOUCHING OR FEEDING A DOG! Often people have spent hours grooming their dog. Other dogs are nervous at shows or may not be use to crowds or children. And some dogs grab for treats or they might have finicky stomachs. NEVER LET YOUR CHILD HUG A STRANGE DOG! Just like most people object to being grabbed and hugged by strangers, so do many dogs! WATCH WHERE YOU STEP! We want you to make sure that you don't step on any feet, noses or tails of our friends. Also unfortunately, not all dog handlers are considerate enough to clean up after their dogs. KEEP ALL FAMILY MEMBERS ON THE OUTSIDE OF RING BARRIERS! Each dog and handler has only moments in the ring for the judge to evaluate him and any distractions (food or objects thrown into the ring, body parts hanging over or under the ring barriers, and/or loud disturbances) can throw their performance off. ALWAYS ASK FIRST IF IT IS A GOOD TIME TO TALK! You might be catching someone as they are nervously waiting to go in the ring, or hurriedly grooming for an upcoming ring time, or may be just closely watching dogs that they are interested in. If we are engrossed in something, we will be happy to let you know when and where is a better time to talk. 8 AKC National Owner-Handled Series (Remember to check the box at the bottom of the entry form) The AKC National Owner-Handled Series is a non-titling competition for dogs that are exhibited by their owners that are not professional handlers. All dogs that are owner-handled and are not solely owned or exhibited by professional handlers* meet the requirements for this competition. Exhibitors must declare their dog is Owner-Handled eligible at the time of entry using the check box on the entry form. Eligible dogs will be identified by an asterisk in the steward s book & the catalog. Dogs must be handled throughout the breed level competition for the regular show by an eligible owner. Professional handlers, household members and current assistants** to professional handlers may not exhibit the dog in this competition. Owner-Handled Best of Breed/Variety will be selected from the dogs that are eligible to compete in the Best of Breed/ Variety competition including Winners Dog, Winners Bitch and undefeated winners of the non-regular classes. This excludes all dogs defeated during class and winners competition for the regular show. If the Best of Breed/Variety winner is Owner-Handled competition eligible, it will automatically be Owner-Handled Best of Breed/Variety and be eligible to compete in both the regular as well as the Owner-Handled group. If the Best of Breed/Variety winner is not eligible for Owner-Handled competition and the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/Variety is eligible, the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/Variety will compete against the eligible exhibits of the other sex to determine Owner-Handled Best of Breed/Variety. If neither the Best of Breed/Variety nor the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/Variety are Owner-Handled competition eligible and Select Dog & Select Bitch are both eligible, the judge is to choose Best Owner-Handled exhibit from the Selects and eligible Winners Dog or Winners Bitch. If one of the Selects is eligible, excuse all Champions and non-regular class winners of the same sex and then choose Best Owner-Handled exhibit from the remaining dogs of the opposite sex including the eligible Winners. If the regular show Best of Breed/Variety, Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/Variety, Select Dog & Select Bitch are not eligible, the judge may choose any eligible dog who competed in Best of Breed/Variety including Winners Dog or Winners Bitch as the Best of Breed/Variety for the AKC National Owner- Handled Series. If the Best of Winners is eligible, the other Winners are ineligible since it was defeated. No class dogs other than the Winners Dog & Winners Bitch are eligible to return to the ring. The breed will not be represented in the Owner-Handled Group if there is no eligible dog competing in the Best of Breed/Variety or in Best of Winners competition. *Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a professional handlers organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay within the last five years. **A current assistant is defined as anyone employed by a professional handler on a full-time basis, or, assisting a professional handler at the show or any show during the cluster/weekend. 8 - Northern & Central New England Brittany Clubs March 19 & 20, 2016

9 JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP COMPETITION Juniors who win a third Novice Class with competition present, after the closing of entries for a show, ARE REQUIRED TO TRANSFER their entry from the Novice Class to the Open Class BY NOTIFYING the Superintendent or Show Secretary at least one half hour prior to the scheduled start of Junior Showmanship judging at the show. AKC Junior Handler Numbers are now required for entry in Junior Showmanship Competition. Numbers may be obtained from the American Kennel Club - PHONE: (919) For additional information contact American Kennel Club, Junior Showmanship, P.O. Box , Raleigh, NC Phone (919) or juniors@akc.org. Entry blank MUST be filled out with the necessary information, otherwise the entry in Junior Showmanship will not be accepted. NOVICE JUNIOR CLASS: For Boys and Girls who are at least 9 years and under 12 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three First Places, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. NOVICE INTERMEDIATE CLASS: For Boys and Girls who are at least 12 years and under 15 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three First Places, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. NOVICE SENIOR CLASS: For Boys and Girls who are at least 15 years and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three First Places, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. OPEN JUNIOR CLASS: For Boys and Girls who are at least 9 years and under 12 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three First Places, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. OPEN INTERMEDIATE CLASS: For Boys and Girls who are at least 12 years and under 15 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three First Places, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. OPEN SENIOR CLASS: For Boys and Girls who are at least 15 years and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three First Places, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. MASTER CLASS: This class will be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years on the day of the show, and who have won the 10 first place wins in an Open Class with competition to be eligible to enter the Limited Class Competition. The calendar for this class will be consistent with the eligibility dates for the AKC Eukanuba National Championship. All Juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master Class and may change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed all participants return to the Open Class to complete for the following year. NOTICE JUNIORS WITH A DOG ALSO ENTERED IN ANOTHER CLASS OFFERED AT THIS SHOW WHO SUBSTITUTE A DOG NOT ENTERED IN THIS SHOW MUST REMIT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP ONLY AND JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP AS AN ADDITIONAL CLASS ENTRY FEE. 10 NO PRACTICING ALLOWED IN RINGS AT ANY TIME Dogs may Arrive any time prior to their scheduled time of judging. Dogs not required for further judging will be excused. Judges Will Not Wait for Any Dog Holding Up a Class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging ring when their classes are called to be judged. All Dogs present must be held on leash or confined to their crates except when being judged or when in the exercising ring. No gasoline or diesel generators are permitted inside any building or within 100 feet of any tent in which this dog show is conducted. As specified in Chapter 12, Section 4 of the AKC Rules Applying to Dog Shows, information contained on the entry form is required to be published in the club s show catalog. This information is also subject to publication in other media. Entry Fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of the event s Show Committee. If because of riots, wars, strikes, civil disturbances, national emergencies, health emergencies, and the dictates of law enforcement or of the owner(s) of the grounds and/or facilities or other acts beyond the control of the management it is impossible to open or to complete the event, no refund of entry fee will be made. Extreme weather conditions, such as, but not limited to snow storms, hurricanes, lightning, extreme heat, heavy rains, or other circumstances including, but not limited to, the condition of the facilities or grounds and/or the ingress and egress from the grounds, must be considered for the health and safety of the dogs, exhibitors and spectators. Cleaning Up After Your Own Dog is Your Responsibility! If your dog soils the grounds it is your responsibility to clean it up. 11 Exhibitors Please Read **Please put a tarp, mat or plastic under all wire crates.** Exhibitors & Handlers will be allowed access to the building between the hours of 7:00 P.M and 9:00 PM on Friday to setup. Exhibitors & Handlers will not be allowed access to the building before 7:00 A.M. Saturday. This will be strictly enforced. Dogs will not be allowed to stay in the building overnight. Dogs will not be allowed in Front Main Entrance unless accompanied by a Handicapped person. Doors close promptly at 6:00 P.M. Please do not allow dogs to urinate on walls or pillars. Crates not allowed in Ring Area. All grooming and crating will be in designated areas. Ex-pens will be in convenient areas outside. Please use them. Private ex-pens will not be allowed in building. Please do not pet dogs without first asking permission (the dog may have just been groomed in preparation for being judged). Exercise caution if you're pushing a baby stroller; be cautious of dog tails and make sure your child does not grab or poke the dog he/she can reach. Avoid areas around the ring entrance which are especially crowded. The Superintendent or Club will not be responsible for the loss of or damage to any dog exhibited whether result of accident or other causes. It is distinctly understood that every dog at these shows is in the care and custody and control of his owner or handler during the entire time the dog is on the show premises. Trophies and prizes will be awarded in the judging rings to the persons exhibiting the dog, who will be considered to be the owner or agent of the owner. All claims for trophies and other prizes must be made in the judging ring before the completion of the judging of the breed, and the Superintendent's office advised at once, in the event of any discrepancy. 12 EXHIBITORS and HANDLERS will be held responsible for clean conditions in and around their crates. The welfare of an exhibitor's child is assumed to be the responsibility of the exhibitor. It is distinctly understood that exhibitors will exercise control and restraint over their children on each day of the shows. Dogs cannot be left on the grounds after the events. Restrooms are not to be used for bathing dogs or mixing food. No crating in center aisle as marked/fire lane. General Site Regulations Participants and Visitors must respect the authority of both the DogStar Activity Center Staff and the Show Officials. Failure to do so will result in ejection from the show grounds and/or Event Hearings. Participants and visitors must abide by posted signs on the grounds. Certain areas will be marked by Please Do Not Allow Animals on Grass and must be respected. Show Buildings are designated as NO SMOKING areas. The Acton Fire Department will enforce the regulation. Please cooperate. Enforcement of Handicapped Parking laws will also be strictly enforced. Do not park in designated handicapped areas without appropriate tags. Fenced Exercise Pen: If your dog needs to relieve himself make certain you use the exercise pen located at the far end of the parking lot behind our building and clean up using the scoop and bucket provided. DO NOT walk your dog on the grass or around the landscaping, DO NOT let your dog relieve himself in/on the grass/trees/ landscaping around the building we need to be good neighbors to the building s other tenants. Parking and entrance to our facility is at the back of the building. Please do not park near or block the loading docks. 13 Directions to the Event Grounds From the East or Route 128/I-95: Take Route 2 West from Route 128 through Lincoln and Concord to Rotary (MCI Concord Prison). Take the 4th exit off the Rotary onto Commonwealth Ave. (prison will be on your left). Go.5 miles and bear right onto Laws Brook Road. Go another 1.3 miles and turn right onto School Street. Proceed.3 mile to our facility on the left at the corner of Craig Road and School Street. From the West or I-495: Take Route 2 East into Acton. Go 1.4 miles past the first stoplight (merge of Route 111 and Route 2) turn right onto School Street. Proceed one-third mile to our facility on the right at the corner of Craig Road and School Street. Accommodations (Which Will Accept Guests with Crated Dogs - Please confirm when calling) Any exhibitor who allows his/her dogs to be loose and unattended in a room or to do damage to hotel property and who then does not immediately contact the hotel management to make proper restitution, will be subject to Event Committee action which could result in the loss of AKC privileges. This also applies to cleaning up after your dog at the hotel/motel grounds. Hotels that accept dogs are quickly becoming a rarity. Please behave responsibly! Clean up after your dogs, bring sheets to cover the furniture, do not groom or bathe your dog(s) inside, do not leave your dog(s) unattended in the room, and please be respectful of other guests who do not have to be up at 6:00 am.
