2 2 The Australian Cattle Veterinarians Annual Conference Register online at Conference introduction The Australian Cattle Veterinarians (ACV) is one of the largest special interest groups of the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) and our Cattle Veterinarian Conference is a key event in the AVA event calendar. Vets at the Cattle Vets Conference come for the expertly curated scientific program, the supportive collegial atmosphere and the friendly social program. The Conference is designed for Australian Cattle Veterinarians who are predominately mixed practitioner veterinarians who have a special interest in bovines. Our vets have a strong role to play in supporting the health, welfare and efficiency of production animal farming, delivering products for both domestic and export markets. About the ACV Annual Conference The 2018 ACV Conference, titled Living on the Edge consists of three full days of scientific presentations (3 6 April) held at the Esplanade Hotel, Fremantle, Perth WA. The ACV program showcases the latest trends in bovine veterinary practice. You will also find out about the latest products and innovations at the trade exhibition. A preconference liver biopsy workshop will be held on Tuesday 3 April and a post conference bull testing workshop on Saturday 7 April. The location is a move from regional and remote locations where traditionally ACV conferences have been held. Based on past participant feedback, we are trialling a major metropolitan location that is easily accessible for delegates and industry to attend. The warm and sophisticated hotel includes some of Fremantle s best restaurants and bars and proudly boasts one of the largest convention and exhibition facilities in Western Australia. Only a three-minute walk away from the conference centre are local hotspots such as the Fremantle Esplanade Ferris Wheel, and the renowned Little Creatures Brewing. The world heritage listed Fremantle Prison is a quick fiveminute walk away, and a picturesque 25-minute ferry ride takes you to the unique local attraction and protected nature reserve Rottnest Island, home of the Quokka, a small wallabylike marsupial and the world s happiest animal. 4 4 The Australian Cattle Veterinarians Annual Conference Register online at About our international speaker, Dr Peter Constable Dr Constable obtained his veterinary degree from the University of Melbourne in He has worked as an agricultural animal veterinarian in Australia and mixed animal practitioner in England. Dr Constable obtained MS and PhD degrees from The Ohio State University, an Honorary Doctorate from the Université de Liège in Belgium, and is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and the American College of Veterinary Nutrition. Dr Constable has co-authored more than 230 peer-reviewed publications and is the senior author on the 11th edition of Veterinary Medicine, a textbook of the diseases of cattle, horses, sheep, pigs, and goats. Saturday 7 April BULLCHECK Virbac in collaboration with ACV is offering a Liver Biopsy workshop on Tuesday 3 April which will include a mineral workshop and wet lab.
