For the first time in a significant Germany Fipronil in eggs from period, eggs from Germany have been found to contain Fipronil. Highlights concerning Poultry meat and poultry products 03/Aug/2017 Following yesterday's highlight regarding eggs from Germany contaminated with fipronil, it has today emerged that these eggs did in fact originate from the Netherlands and were transported into Germany. The Netherlands was the largest Intra-EU exporter of eggs in 2016, exporting 306,427,000kg UPDATE - Eggs contaminated with fipronil from Germany 08/Aug/2017 Following the HorizonScan highlights of the 2nd and 3rd of August regarding Fipronil being detected in eggs from The Netherlands, the issue continues to escalate and has become a global issue, turning into the world s largest recall of shelled eggs since Further details have emerged on how the contamination occurred and it appears fipronil was added to a cleaning agent and sanitizer used around the chickens. 180 poultry farms around the Netherlands have been closed with a further 59 having to add health warnings for children to their products.
