69 J; Customer of Poultry Business Marketing Thailand sees 20 % growth in chicken exports Q Director-general of department of Internal Trade Promotion Nanthawan S. said that the important markets of Thai chicken exports included Japan, UK, the Netherlands, Laos and Singapore. The markets with high growth rate this year included South Africa, Malaysia and Cambodia where buyers were confident in Thailand s agricultural and livestock production, compliance with international standards, as well as skilled workers, Nanthawan added.

70 J; Customer of Poultry Business Marketing Thailand sees 20 % growth in chicken exports Q Thailand s exports of fresh chilled or frozen chicken in Q grew to 140,000 tonnes, a 20 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2014 Thailand is expected to export around 620,000 tonnes of chicken this year, a rise in five per cent compared to last year with the export value of US$2.57bn

71 J; Customer of Poultry Business Marketing South Korea lifts import ban on Thai frozen chicken South Korea has decided to lift its 11-year ban on importing frozen chicken from Thailand, a move which is expected to push chicken exports of the country to grow by 6-7 per cent this year Exports were suspended in 2004 due to outbreaks of avian influenza in Thailand. The country exported 42,580 tonnes of frozen chicken worth 2.23 billion baht to South Korea in 2002 Thailand will also export chicken products to South Korea June 2015 onwards. According to department of Internal Trade Promotion, the factors that contributed to the export growth include Japan s importing of fresh chicken, problems related to chicken products in the neighboring countries and economic slowdowns in major markets

72 J; Customer of Poultry Business Marketing Japan lifted a decade-ban over Thai raw chicken meat import Japan will likely import 5,000 tonnes of raw chicken meat from Thai exporters this quarter after Tokyo lifted its 10-year ban on fresh poultry from here. The country agreed late last year to resume imports after no reports of avian flu among Thai poultry for many years. 21 January 2014
