2 Message from Jamie Collingridge Our May highlights are a world apart, both literally and metaphorically, although they were probably made within twenty years of one another. One is a highly technical silver humpback montre de carosse by the great Abraham Louis Breguet and will be sold in Geneva on 11 May.The other is a wonderfully decorative Chinese musical and automaton clock (the pair to one sold for a record-breaking 2.5 million in the Nezu collection last year) and will be sold in Hong Kong on 27 May.Two very different clocks, but with a unifying feature both are superb examples of their kind, one embodying the very best of Swiss-French horology and the other the best of Chinese clockmaking.the Breguet was made for the Queen of Naples and the Chinese clock would most likely have been made as tribute to the Emperor of China.
