4 Entries close at 9:00 pm EDT on Thursday, August 8, 2013, or when the 75-dog limit has been reached, whichever occurs first. As per CKC regulations no entries will be accepted, altered or substituted after this point. This test for all Retrievers, Irish Water Spaniels and Standard Poodles is approved by and will be held under the rules and regulations of the Canadian Kennel Club. Open to: Any dog with a CKC Master Hunter title or AKC Master Hunter title who has successfully completed 2 CKC Master Hunter passes* at Hunt Tests hosted by member clubs in good standing of the Canadian National Master Club during the period of August 3, 2012 to August 8, 2013 Any dog with a CKC Grand Master Hunter title Any dog that qualified in the most recent Canadian National Master Hunt Test Stake Any dog that qualified in the most recent AKC Master National Hunting Test *Note: the 2 qualifying scores may count towards the Master Hunter or Grand Master Hunter title Entry: Limited to 75 dogs. Entries will be accepted in the order they are received until the limit of 75 dogs has been met. The entry fee is $ CDN per running dog. Please Note: Canadian Non-CKC Member Participation Fee: A non-member participation fee will be charged to a resident of Canada who is a non-member of the CKC. The fee is the same as the ERN fee. The non-member participation fee is paid in any year a title is earned and covers all titles and dogs owned by that individual. In order for the title to be awarded, the non-member will have a choice to either become a CKC member or pay the non-member participation fee. Failure to comply within 30 days of notification will result in the title being withheld and the dog cannot be moved up to the next level. All Premium Lists will carry a note stating the fee applies only to dogs wholly owned by non-member residents of Canada and is not applicable to CKC members.

6 Approved CNM Hunt Test Judges: Zone 2: Ross C. McLaughlin ( ), Clayton, ON My road to the National Master Hunt Test began many years ago when I returned from a United Nations military tour in the Middle East in 1988, to find my wife had bought us a very active female black Labrador name Josie. It seems we were destined to play in the retriever game and we have never looked back. I started with field trials and then when hunt tests were introduced in for Ontario I crossed over. I have enjoyed running and judging retrievers in Ontario and Québec in the hunt test game for almost 20 years. I am an avid hunter and watching good retrievers work as a team with their handlers is always a thrill. I am looking forward to see excellent work from the best dogs in Canada. Good luck to you all! 7 Zone 3: Ross A. Campbell ( ), Clavet, SK My journey began in 1975 when my wife and I got married and she came with Lizzie a yellow Labrador retriever. I hit pay dirt as I was an avid duck and goose hunter. We moved to the farm in 1976 and got side tracked for a few years. We joined the Saskatoon Retriever Club in 1991 and the rest is history for us in the retriever world. We have been active members ever since and take part in WCs, Hunt Tests, the local Field Trials and have helped out with several National events over the past years. We enjoy training with our friends and I have judged at a Qualifying Field Trial and Master Hunt Level. We bred and trained the very first GMH Labrador retriever in Western Canada and bred and trained one of the first CH/MH Labrador Retrievers in Canada. I have run two Nationals Masters and have qualified at both events. Today my wife and I still train our dogs, and I hunt ducks and geese and have added a new passion, pheasants. I am so looking forward to judging the 2013 National Master and wish everyone Happy Training and Good Luck. Ross A. Campbell

8 Zone 4: Louise M. Roberts ( ), Mill Bay, BC I was raised on a farm in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, BC and grew up with hunting dogs. While I started with English Pointers in conformation at the age of 10, it wasn t until I had married my husband Rick that we got our first Golden. Although I have competed in a number of different dog sports since then, I found my true passion when I chose my boy Dare (UH HRCH GMH Goldngun s Double Darn Dare Ya QFTR WCX CDX CGN). Presently I am training Streak( UH HRCH NMH Goldnguns Goin A Blue Streak QFTR WCX CDX), Risq (HRCH Foxton s GNG Gawd Darn Risque MH CD) and my newest challenge, Bling (Wildwings Rednecks Diamond in the Rough). Having done all of the training on my own dogs, I appreciate the commitment, time and energy it takes to train a dog and form bonds and partnerships with each one. I enjoy pheasant, duck and goose hunting, as well deer and moose. I am a life member of the Tyee Kennel Club, longtime member of the Vancouver Island Retriever Club (VIRC), founding member of Salt Chuck HRC and Pacific Rim HRC and judge in all three disciplines. I am presently President of Pacific Rim HRC and past Secretary. I am very honoured and excited to have been asked to judge the CNM 2013 and wish the competitors all the best and hope you have a great week. Louise M. Robert

9 Behaviour & Conduct: The National Master Hunt Test Stake adheres to the CKC Rules and Regulations regarding all conduct and behaviour on the grounds. Additionally: 1. After a series has been officially set up by the judges, no dog on the grounds and still in competition shall leave the area of the series until it has been tested and excused by the Marshal, unless otherwise excused by the National Master Committee. Further, during the running of the stake no competing dog shall, while on the grounds, be exercised, trained or worked with the exception of a bumper thrown by the handler and this only in an especially approved area and only for the purpose of exercising the dog. 2. Any dog not entered in the stake and interfering with the running of the stake will be removed. 3. Exercise areas will be clearly defined. 4. Dogs not appearing on line when called will be given 15 minutes to do so. 5. Rotation of starting dog will be used as directed by the Marshal. 6. No person participating in any capacity in the National Master shall be subject to an indignity of any kind. An officially appointed Discipline Committee will investigate any concerns. 7. No dog to be allowed to watch any test having just run the test or not, thus eliminating confusion as to who has run and who has not and reducing the chance of altercations. 8. The first scheduled test of the National will be announced. Each next scheduled test will be posted with the call-backs. This procedure will help create fairness for all by eliminating possible competitive advantage for those involved with putting on the test. 9. Judges have no obligation to go ahead with a scheduled test as conditions may change. Canadian Kennel Club caution: It shall be the duty and obligation of the event giving club to see that a judge, club official, volunteer, or any participant at a hunt test held under these regulations, is not subject to any indignities. The Hunt Test Committee Chair shall promptly report to the CKC any infringement of this regulation, and the Discipline Committee shall have the authority to take such action as it deems fit on receipt of a report indicating that this has occurred. Photography: A formal photograph of each competitor showing their number and their dog will be taken during the first day of the event. An opportunity to purchase this photo will be provided to competitors. Custom photographs of dogs and handlers may be available through the committee photographer as time allows.

10 IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Scratches : Bitches in season may not compete and must be withdrawn. All entry fees paid for bitches in season will be refunded provided that notice in writing is given to the National Master Hunt Test Secretary before the start of the stake. Entry fees paid for any dog withdrawn because of an injury, illness or death shall be refunded in full upon receipt of a veterinary certificate. To be considered, refunds must be requested in writing to the National Master Hunt Test Secretary no later than seven days after the stake, explaining the reason for the scratch. An appropriate veterinary certificate must accompany all refund requests. Awards: All dogs receiving a qualifying score will receive a duck band, rosette and the title of National Master Hunter and shall be entitled to add the NMH prefix to the registered name. Clothing: All handlers, observers and workers must wear dark or camouflage clothing or appropriate hunting attire. Handlers will be required to official gear provided by the sponsors (such as hat, and running # bib). Game: Dead ducks, snow geese or pheasants will be used in all stakes except for the upland test, which will use live rock partridges or pheasants. Annual General Meeting: The AGM will be held at 1:00 pm at La Petite-Ferme on Sunday August 18th, 2013 Assisting at the trial: All entrants will be expected to pitch in and work to keep things running smoothly. The gun captain may ask entrants to assist by gunning, running a winger, planting a blind or helping to move equipment. Meals: Breakfasts, lunchs and dinners (including the Workers Party) will be available each day at the event, all on reservation only. The details will be provided on May 1 st 2013 in the Schedule of Activities. Reservations for the Welcome Banquet must be made prior to entries closing date of August 8, 2013.

11 SCHEDULE: Pre-Test Training Designated areas for pre-event training will be available by prior arrangement only. Club representatives will be in attendance each training day to ensure rules and regulations regarding use of the sites are adhered to. Any competitor not abiding by the training site rules will be asked to leave the site and will be prohibited from access to the remaining training sites. The Club has worked diligently to secure suitable sites for the training and testing of retrievers and we trust the CNM competitors will respect the policies put in place by our stakeholder landowners.
