Given to me a long time ago by a treasured Aunt. There are different birds on each side. 5 This is a matching double with different game birds on both sides and in bowls. I think from Jane, a few years back. I will show both sides and inside. Delete Entire Topic

Anyone know who made them? 16 10:42 AM ET Bird with orange salt. I have seen others in the same style with different silver animals. Anyone know anything about maker of this series? 17 10:45 AM ET 18 12:43 PM ET 19 12:48 PM ET Swallow Wow Nancy you sure know how to start things off right - A fine collection of feathers you have there --

It's on the New Salts page on my website - I think it's cute! Debi, it does look like the same one, I bought it because the spoons were so different Nancy, I was wondering if it might be Swarovski, it's really better looking than the picture

The orange netting is snow fencing strung around the yard to keep the hawks and golden eagles from swooping down easily and carrying off a hen (been there done that, not pleasant) Yours is beautiful Nancy. I thought I would provide a giggle with the hens. Glad the "Chickie girls" have the protection Inez. Nice to see them! I have many of the same glass doubles you do Inez. I'll see what different ones or colors I might have.

9 Page 9 of 47 Opalescent chick salt or egg cup :20 PM ET This is probably considered white but it does have a pale blue color to it :21 PM ET 54 10:22 PM ET My blue bird without the berry. Mine are also unmarked. Different poses and coloring indicate hand painting. I have wondered about the origin since I have another unmarked set with completely different decoration, also apparently hand painted but on the exact same blanks, including the unusual threaded top for the pepper and the flower finial. 65 Kent Hudson 11:11 PM ET French Silver, 2 1/2 inches by 2 inches, 1 1/2 inches tall 66 Kent Hudson 11:14 PM ET Royal China Works, Worcester, England, 2 inches diameter, 1 1/8 inches tall 67 Kent Hudson 11:15 PM ET Poole Pottery 68 Janelle :04 AM ET Hey Inez, I think I just spotted the chicken lookout. 69 Janelle :13 AM ET You Toucan be a salt.

13 Page 13 of 47 Janelle :31 AM ET Hi Nancy, I think your Salt and Pepper bird could be the offspring of my two weirdos. If you are up this early you really need a little cat or doggie to keep you company. Hope the cold is not getting to you. Take care friend. 77 Susie P :57 AM ET Most of mine have been posted too, here are a couple that may not have been.. 78 Susie P :58 AM ET Love this trencher type style 79 Susie P :20 AM ET :42 AM ET A grouse, perhaps? Wish I did have a cat or dog, but those days are behind us. 81 Linda Houser :22 AM ET Linda Houser :26 AM ET In a couple weeks the sandhills cranes will start appearing on the platte river in Nebraska, so in keeping with that thought- it means spring is just around the corner- here are my three cranes in a sake cup/salt.

15 Page 15 of 47 05:47 AM ET Susie P :19 AM ET Salt and pepper set. Hi Sue! Aha, the pelican to remind of Florida, and love that cute salt and pepper set!! Edited :42 AM 90 Nancy C Villaverde :41 PM ET So many birds! I don't have many, but here are a couple I just found. The first is on a toothpick holder I use for Q-tips. It belongs in a set with mustard pot and open salt, possibly a tray. I had the mustard but broke it. 91 Nancy C Villaverde :43 PM ET This is a funny little set, possibly a place for two eggs or maybe condiments, shaker that lifts out. 92 Nancy C Villaverde :01 PM ET Nancy C Villaverde :50 PM ET The Salty Nut... P.J :17 PM ET I'm not sure what the blue bird with long beak on the toothpick is, but I think this is a stork, and it's on a little cup or salt probably by Moser. My brain-lag just presented me with the name blue heron for the bird on my #90.

16 Page 16 of 47 These "birds" can be salts... or they can be "egg holders"... it's an ongoing debate... what ever they are... they are in my salt collection... therefore they are salts!!! The Stork 95 The Salty Nut... P.J :20 PM ET Sorry Debi... I know Swans were not to be included... but this is part of a "set" "The Swan" 96 The Salty Nut... P.J :21 PM ET "The Duck" 97 The Salty Nut... P.J :22 PM ET Nancy C Villaverde :41 PM ET :30 PM ET "The Rooster"??? Maybe just a "Chicken"??? I bought the stork in York--how's that for rhyming? I think it was meant as an egg cup, but I kept it in my salt collection for some time. He has since flown away, don't remember where. York, PA, Nancy?

17 Page 17 of 47 01:31 PM ET First "flock" of birds. An egret or some kind of water bird :32 PM ET European pheasant :32 PM ET Rooster :33 PM ET Grouse??? :33 PM ET :34 PM ET Baby chick - another one off my bucket list!

Glad you got a bucket list salt! Jane--nope, York, England. Or maybe it was Edinburgh, Scotland, but that wouldn't rhyme. Oh Jane, That duck cart is to totally die for!!!!! Love it!!! :20 PM ET I have a few chickens and roosters. This one is very small compared to most faience doubles :22 PM ET Faience chicken double

19 Page 19 of 47 06:24 PM ET My poor little Quimper duck that was glued together so many times. I felt sorry for the little guy. In his condition he's not worth much but these spotted ducks are quite desirable and expensive :28 PM ET Nearly forgot about these birds. One of my many favorites :29 PM ET This is pottery just like the glass double :30 PM ET This definitely a "blue" heron. 116 Susie P :56 AM ET :29 AM ET 118 Susie P :37 AM ET Here is one like yours, Jane- Not sure of the bird, either?? Susie & Jane, I would say the bird in your intaglios is a swallow. Isn't the tail what we call a swallowtail? Yay Nancy, I think you nailed it, hurrah! Thanks! Susie P

20 Page 20 of :26 AM ET I thought of swallow, but I don't know birds at all so I didn't say that. Colorful china bird on a box :26 AM ET Blown glass blue bird on a whale's tail :28 AM ET Amber pressed glass - L. G. Wright :29 AM ET Bisque hen and eggs condiment set. Everybody's nests seem to be quite well feathered -- Nice display of wings...

23 Page 23 of Linda Houser 11:40 AM ET haven't seen this one on the board yet, Mosser? 140 Linda Houser 11:41 AM ET a pottery hen on nest, not marked 141 Linda Houser 11:43 AM ET I've shown this one before 142 Linda Houser 11:45 AM ET another one I don't think has been posted 143 Linda Houser 11:48 AM ET and, just for the fun of it, my duck, even though he was meant to be an eggcup, I think- Pier One 144 Linda Houser 11:58 AM ET The Salty Nut... P.J. this could be the Richards and Hartley bird salt from the 1890s, or a Degenhart repro

24 Page 24 of 47 02:07 PM ET Linda Houser 03:01 PM ET Hey Linda... I have the same bird... only a yellow bird... Think I found it three years ago on our trip around the Gulf of New Mexico... Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama...???? My bird has a large internal bubble around his left shoulder a small bubble around his left brain and a bubble just before his tail begins...??? No markings... I like his yellow coloring... :-} PJ, mine has a lot of little bubbles also. I've forgotten where I got it, it was one of my early purchases. the bottom has a lot of wear on it, so it's likely the old one. somewhere ( salty commentz??) I've seen how to tell the difference between the new and old, besides the way it feels :11 PM ET All these salts are lovely, so many different salts with birds. Amazing. I am not a porcelain girl but the beauty in some of these is pleasure to the eye. Debiand Jane your, booboo birds are too sweet for words. I look at them and feel good. They are expencive. I watch for one but get out bid every time. I wouldn't even mind a broken one as I just like how it makes me feel.here are some of my birds :14 PM ET I have no idea if these are old or new. I still have a box of these at Richard Gloss' house in southwest N.Y. I may have to wait for the convention to get them from him :14 PM ET :15 PM ET A few more Let the birds fly...i am still cracking up over that one Debi :17 PM ET My poor memory... one of you beautiful ladies helped me find these wonderful old birds,,, many years ago. Still to this day the only old bird I know is me :19 PM ET Bird, bird, bird is the word....anyone remember that old song?? Lololololo

25 Page 25 of 47 Edited 05:19 PM :21 PM ET Love this guy, need the brother like yours Nancy. Edited 05:22 PM :23 PM ET :28 PM ET Rest of birds are still packed. Yes,, I remember that song! :40 PM ET Sorry for the old small pictures. This one is called "Yuan" by Wood & Sons. Edited 08:46 PM :43 PM ET I really like this bird condiment set :46 PM ET Another white bird :54 PM ET 160 Probably not a salt. Maybe a little candy dish for baby showers? I think it's a stork.

26 Page 26 of 47 09:07 PM ET Almost out of bird salts...how about a few real ones? This little guy fell out of a nest about 20 years ago. I fed him baby food, mushed up berries and worms when I found them. My golden Sandy would watch over him. He went everywhere I did for about a month. When I worked in the yard I put him in my hanging basket. When he learned to fly he would go up in a tree, but would still come back when I made his feeding sound noise. Then I guess he was just old enough to find his own food and start life on his own. That was fun. I have some old pictures, not digital ones. Maybe I'll dig them out and scan them before the end on the month :08 PM ET Hummingbird that let me get pretty close for pictures in :10 PM ET Last one...some wild canaries from last summer. 164 Janelle :28 AM ET I cannot find anymore bird salts so this is Toby & the Butcher Bird having a stare off. Jim feeds about 11 Butcher birds 4 or 5 Kookaburras and various other birds depending on the season in the morning. The Butcher bird has a beautiful voice and is named because he takes his food and hangs it on a twig in the trees to store for later :20 AM ET Love the real bird photos! Debi, the hummingbird is wonderful! Janelle, heard of the Kookaburra, but not the Butcher bird! Here is a hawk that sits in a backyard tree waiting for my song birds at the front feeder. I have plenty bushes for them to flee to, though. Interesting. Birds we will never see "live"!

27 Page 27 of 47 08:35 AM ET :11 AM ET Not B & G china - but Seagulls from a lake near me :19 AM ET Amazing...what number of salts... B&G, Denmark :35 PM ET Salt and pepper, Franck, Finland 170 Janelle :21 PM ET :14 PM ET 172 Janelle :38 PM ET :02 PM ET Nancy, this is Wockeye, she/he ( both sexes look the same) and the two new babies. Wockeye is blind in one eye and has been coming for years, a very good parent. Kids are typical, very noisy and demanding., love your collection of B&G seagull salts. Janelle, Wockeye is adorable. I do love birds, my grandmother used to tell me she had to feed her "feathered friends" every morning. I have a feeder outside my living room window and regularly have a red headed woodpecker, a male cardinal; chickadees and sparrows., I think your seagull salts are lovely and such a variety. Nancy, I love the fact that they are wild and trust us. We have Spangled Drongos that come from Indonesia each year to breed here and soon as they arrive they come to say hello.

28 Page 28 of 47 Elfinware Hen on Nest :05 PM ET German 800 Winged birds :06 PM ET There are three of them holding the bowl :07 PM ET German Alpaca metal :10 PM ET Can't remember the type of bird - want to say squab - but think that might be a Mary word and have no bearing on reality :11 PM ET 179 Susie P Peacocks?? Debi, LOVE the story of successfully raising the bird, that was wonderful!!!! And had to be a thrill!!

29 Page 29 of :24 AM ET Mary, the German is awesome! Nancy? You and I have the same, same many times! We must be related!!! Love all the photos of real birds:):) Susie P 180 Jan Schmidt :44 PM ET :20 AM ET Debi--your picture is a hummingbird moth. Here is a ruby throated hummingbird, which I think is the only one that visits your neck of the woods. Easy to mistake one for the other! This is one visiting the feeder on my dining room window. Edited :45 PM I'm sure you're right Jan. I think I looked it up back when I first took the pictures and that sounds familiar. I have seen other types around, very iridescent green and teeny tiny, but they take off if you get anywhere near them. This one didn't mind me being around. They come for the Larkspur in mid to late summer. The wild canaries like the Coneflower seeds in late summer :50 AM ET 183 Janelle :03 AM ET Sometimes I feel this page only is made for me - you don't imagine how many beauties (can I say so?) you show that I've never seen... My is neither a real bird nor a salt - but it's Royal! It's lovely. And Debi, it is amazing to see something like that hummingbird moth that's in your backyard and the other birds etc. Something that I would never have come across before. We do learn something new here everyday. It's Bonza. My, aren't I being very Aussie today. Interpretation- really good :59 AM ET 185 Susie P :50 AM ET :21 PM ET French Art Deco Oh, absolutely Adore this French Art Deco; have never seen this before?? Wonderful!! Bird story:-- this house has an upper porch. When winter set in I decided to feed the birds. I put out peanut butter. The birds eat it like crazy but their little tongues don't lick it off their beeks. Lololololol they have to wipe it off any way they can. My favorite is this tall bush with seed tuffs still attached. They stick their little beeks in and out, in and out and get a loufa clense.

30 Page 30 of :28 PM ET The Salty Nut... P.J :53 PM ET :31 PM ET :19 PM ET The Salty Nut... P.J :01 PM ET :41 PM ET The Salty Nut... P.J :18 PM ET Debi, Jan...That IS a hummingbird moth. I have never seen one. That is just awesome. I use that word...'awesome' a lot but it fits. I am nuts for that picture Debi, Thank you.... Pant, Pant, Gasp, Gasp, Drool, Drool... Love, Love... Where ever did you find that unusual double??? Cutest little birds too... but I'd love it what ever little critter was impressed on the handle!!! What are the dimensions??? Cute, Cute!!! Hi P.J. - it's 50mm x 65mm - I've bought it in France OK girls, we ARE going to France. My mother is from Paris. Huummm, does that mean, genetically, anything from France is mine???? Jyett, Very pretty French salt, I like her. Edited :21 PM and... The last time Olen and I were in France - Paris - There was the Greatest "Flea Market" - Blocks and blocks of shops and markets with EVERYTHING!!! The "St. Ouen Antique Market" in Eastern Paris... (Olen just looked it up for me)... That's where I got my Daum Nancy's and a couple of Bauccarats and... MARY... that's where I got the lady that reminds me of you!!! A GREAT place to shop if you ever get to Paris!!! Had a ball even bouncing around in my handicapped scooter!!! I'd be ready to go again if I didn't have to fly!!! UGH!!!!! P.J. I would love to go to France. A Cruise ship would be a joy To travel on to France. Edited :42 PM... LOVELY idea!!! Been there... Done that!!! Living in the Southwest desert... It's a long way from here to the cruise ships!!! As I said though... It's a GREAT idea... In fact... The first time I went to France WAS on a Cruises of The Capitals of Western Europe!!! Fantastic!!! Got to visit with a salting friend in the Netherlands at the time... GREAT... In case some of you are wondering... I'm in the edit mode at the time... hit the wrong button...??? By for now... :-} Edited :20 PM :06 AM ET :07 AM ET and P.J. - when are we going to meet each other in Paris? I'll just take a plane Salts - not so old hens

31 Page 31 of 47 Older :08 AM ET 197 The Salty Nut... P.J :33 PM ET Oldest - and an art/type I don't know Old double hen from France??? Not really sure about this one The Salty Nut... P.J :36 PM ET The Salty Nut... P.J :54 PM ET :12 PM ET Another double... Got this one in France and does say "Made in France" inside bottom of one "well"... Does this allow me to say... both came from France???... The last time I was on a plane... April coming home from Cairo,Egypt - we were on planes for 36 hours- that's right thirty six HOURS - (door to door) - 4 planes... NEVER, NEVER, NEVER want to do that again!!!!! And though, I LOVE PARIS... no matter what time of year... I will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER fly into or out of Charles De Gaulle if my life depended on it!!! Would you believe it... going into and out of that airport they called the city police in to clear Olen because he had a pace-maker!!!! Like he was going to blow the airport or the airplane up?????? No, my friend, I have had it with flying!!! And we were flying first class... I can't imagine how they treat coach class anymore?????? No thank you!!! Last time I was on a plane was before 9/11 - May of 2001 to the Cali convention. That was it for me. Can't even imagine what you have to go through at airports now and have no desire to find out. I wouldn't mind trying a train sometime but that would only work if I was going west. You can't go east from the Detroit area without either going to Chicago first or going to Toledo to catch a train east. Hard to believe there is no Amtrak service between Detroit and Toledo but there wasn't the last time I checked it out :10 AM ET 202 Of course no airplane for you P.J. - but much more than 36 hours "on your Cruise" to Paris:-) and P.J. I've never seen double-hens (even if I live about 1 1/2 hour (by plane) away from France) My bird also from France

32 Page 32 of 47 Janelle :17 AM ET Tis a problem we have living in Australia, not that close to anything unless you want to go to Antartica. A long trip to get to anywhere else. 203 Janelle :28 AM ET Found a chook in my cabinet, compared to the White ones it would be master salt size.it has a registered number which shows the design was registered by the International Bottle Co on Feb 6th :38 AM ET 205 Janelle :01 AM ET :50 AM ET Janelle - didn't you just forget one of the most beautiful places in the World - New Zealand??? :-) "The forbidden Swans" to tell that "the white mute swan" is the Danish national bird, New Zealand is pert near a state of Australia. Lol What a nice collection of hens. Double hens, new one on me. Swans beautiful also. Somewhere, I have a nice grouping of porcelain swans. Lenex, Bavarian, German...is what I remember. If they didn't fly the coup, they'll turn up. Edited :51 AM :04 PM ET Okay I will take some of the heat off of you for the forbidden swans - A recent win and not here yet - as I have said before - If I outbid you on this one I am sorry - well sort of - and then again :05 PM ET Close up of the BIRDS sometimes referred to as swans Nice one Mary, very very nice. Certainly no ugly ducklings in that one.

33 Page 33 of 47 Janelle :32 PM ET :39 PM ET Hey - Maybe they are geese - they appear to have the attitude of geese :42 PM ET That is one kind of a very elegant salt Mary!! Swans or geese...does not matter No doubt about mine - a House-sparrow :53 AM ET Oh I do love the little sparrows - But one of my favorite little birds is the Phoebe - We have them here - for some reason they have survived with the cats - They catch most of their food while it is in the air - Flying bugs and such - so do not spend much time on the ground - Even when they do land in the back yard - The boys just look at them and go -- Okay so its that Phoebe - he lives here --- Glad so many of you have gone to the birds this month - The salts are incredible as usual - I am sure I have more - Have 9 days to find them - lol :09 PM ET Janelle Jefferson :41 PM ET Janelle :32 PM ET Peacock Cute birds, real and on salts. Just looked up the phoebe, nice little things. No sparrows here, they think we are too rural and prefer living in town. Hey Mary, just had another look at your birds, think they might be Geese, they certainly look fierce and have an attitude. Not smiling like swans.

34 Page 34 of :42 AM ET :45 AM ET :30 AM ET :56 PM ET The Sparrows lives all over - think it's our most common bird Salts: Pottery, Magrethe Dybdahl, Denmark, your 4 little bird salts are adorable! They are cute,! Jyett, Those are adorable, what's the size? Can you give another pic with a coin or another salt for me to see size. They really are cute and if tiny they would really rock. I finally unpacked my Crane Salts (nuts). I am not a porcelain lover...though as I unpack and see all the porcelain salts, nuts and celerys, radish sets I have, I question myself. Gatta get pics for you guys :27 AM ET - they are about 30 mm high x 80mm x 43mm (picture with flash - sorry) She has also made some a little bigger - I think as eggcups :30 AM ET Pewter-bird - not quite sure which? :15 PM ET :58 AM ET European pheasants on Royal Crown Derby salt.

I only have a couple more, the first has a pretty butterfly on the other side, and this lovely white bird 233 Susie P :21 AM ET And love the detailed birds on this double :35 AM ET :36 AM ET Found these awhile back on Replacements.com but I have never seen one anywhere else.

37 Page 37 of 47 They are Herend double salts :37 AM ET 237 Sue Sawyer :55 AM ET Nancy C Villaverde :48 PM ET :07 PM ET My favorite of the three. Love your Herends, Debi. Lovely Herends, Debi. I had one or more similar to Susie's 233, but I let them go as I shifted from china to glass. I do still have a fairly large shelf of porcelain and pottery, can't give it all up. Your #233 looks a lot like my #6, 7, & 8. Maybe different game birds. Mine is marked with blue crossed swords :21 PM ET LOL! I should have been more specific. I found the PICTURES on Replacements.com. I have never seen one in person and don't own any of them. Wish I did but I'm pretty sure they must be expensive. Not sure if any prices were listed or if they even had any in stock. The blue one pattern name is Chinese Bouquet - Blue, the brown one is Rothschild Bird, and the red one is Fortuna. There were many more shapes and sizes of open salts in the Rothschild Bird pattern pictured including the individual above :14 PM ET These are not mine. I remember Mimi Rudnick, the "salt lady" showing me the large owl which had a

38 Page 38 of 47 mouse spoon. It was a Tiffany and she took it with her everywhere. The head tips back to show the salt bowl :17 PM ET These are not mine, but it wish they were :19 PM ET Again, not mine, but I love this set :31 AM ET :43 AM ET :45 AM ET 248 Susie P :37 AM ET Susie - your #232 make me drool And some "Bird on Nest" : I suspect most of your bird with nests are the Swedish made ones. Very nice collection of them. Nancy D: If those are two shakers with the larger owl, it seems the large one would be a mustard with spoon. Very cool set though. I'd take it. Nancy D! We are really sisters, we have so many of the same salts and likes, LOL!, Thanks, I bought it for the butterfly which is on the other side, but the whole thing is lovely!! Really nice group of birds on next, delicate coloring! :45 AM ET Lily pot with bird. Susie, I have often thought we have the same tastes. Also Lisa Tiedman and I seem to like similar salts and the German fairing pink pigs. 250

39 Page 39 of 47 Linda Houser :35 PM ET I've been trying to find a bird salt in my collection that I know I haven't taken a picture of yet. Can't find it, must be time to clean out some drawers! but I did remember that I had this hummingbird made by our local glass artist. The picture doesn't do it justice. Thought you might enjoy it :00 PM ET Dopplewandglas with bird - I know I have shown some of these - but can't remember which ones so please forgive the duplicates if any - Just wanted to join the tweet fun :02 PM ET Elfin ware :04 PM ET German Crystal and silver duck :05 PM ET Inside of KPM bowl :06 PM ET 256 Parrot with roses

P.J :47 PM ET The Salty Nut... P.J :48 PM ET Mary... LOVE your little parrots!!! And your Pheasant is Beautiful!!! Now... I have a question... First, I'll show you this is in the right category... birds... all four feet are BIRDS... and the feet have balls with claws???... I'll start there... The question... Is this the type of thing that will go in the "reverse auction" at the convention??? Additional photo to follow...

41 Page 41 of 47 Here are the feet... Additional photos available... All pieces match Janelle :10 PM ET Nice birdies being shown. I found these, I don't think I have posted these on here before, the two birds maybe on the pairs. I think they are Murano 263 Janelle :16 PM ET Duck in his silver tray, small fish form the base of the tray underneath the duck :01 AM ET Very nice morning! 42 Page 42 of :43 AM ET :17 AM ET They were made in Sweden by Reijmyre and also by Mosser in the USA but I'm guessing because of where you live, most of yours are Swedish. 43 Page 43 of :35 AM ET , beautiful peacocks. All your collections are so nice to look at. Oh, forgot to thank you for pic of birds with salts to compare size. Those little birds are very sweet. I am just awe struck at all these birds. I got these Crane nuts way back when I started collecting salts. I fell in love with the painting and color. I remember having to fight like crazy to get each peice. They are Nippon,Noritake.?.(..my eyes arn't working today) green mark :36 AM ET A better pic :38 AM ET New or old hen?? My Mom got this for me and we don't know anything about her. Edited :38 AM :40 AM ET :41 AM ET I don't shine my silver, rather like the patina. Swans-a-pretty :49 PM ET :51 PM ET Whoa - We are going over the top here at the end -- Finally remembered I had a feathered Faience - Knew I had to have at least one - lol lol --- Double duck - Quite a quacker upper...

44 Page 44 of :59 PM ET 283 Jan Schmidt :32 PM ET :19 PM ET He is Desvres rather than Quimper or Henriot - Actually a Geo Martel piece - Love his emblem decoration -- - such a sweet penguin and love the peacocks. Mary - like your ducky. Mine is rather lonely. Maybe he could come to visit???, are the adoption papers final?!!! LOVE your peacock salts! And soooo many others that you have. Gorgeous! Jane - NO - He does not like the cold... nice try though :57 AM ET :08 AM ET :37 AM ET :39 AM ET 289 Oh yes Jan - you just have to sign The Peacocks are new - and I didn't outbid any - it was a "buy now" offer. I do like them as a pair - but then I think "they are not a pair"... Just admit it. You hate polishing silver like the rest of do. Some things look a bit nicer with a little patina, but shiny silver is gorgeous. Just hate trying to keep it that way...and constantly shining plated silver will wear it away. So your correct comment should be that you're saving the silver plating. LOL Mary: Love the ducky! : The real peacocks picture is gorgeous too. We did have a rather fine showing this month. I'm inclined to go with Mary's suggestion of square salts but I don't know if there would be very many. Any other suggestions? Check the past topics link above to make sure we haven't already done it. We never did salts with labels or marked salts before. That would be quite a few...although photographing some marks might be tough to do, especially on glass. Huh, I really thought I'd get alot of comments about the Crane nuts. You guys didn't really like them? They are small, just under 3". Super thin porcelian. Oh well, for me, not crazy over porcelain...these take my breath away. Yea Debi, ya got me. Sterling is beautiful when polished. Although, I do have a quad coated silver tea service that I really do love unpolished. Edited :41 AM I like them. I like how stylized the birds are. Probably quite modern looking for when they were made. I'm not much into porcelain or china either unless it's my more traditional blue and white china.

45 Page 45 of :54 PM ET The Salty Nut... P.J :23 PM ET :21 PM ET :30 PM ET :36 PM ET, I have one of those crane salts. I have seen tea sets with the same motif. I have also seen the cranes with a pink background. I like them very much, just haven't found many to buy. Ahhhh... salts with labels on them... want to know a dummy... that's me... now you know!!! When I first started collecting... any salt I got that still had a sticker... into the sink it went to soak off the sticker... duhhhhh... And I even once got a salt... a turtle, I believe... that had some gold embossing on him... yep... soaked him in all sorts of "stuff"... even tried turpentine for a week... steel wool and a wire brush finally worked to get that gold "paint" off that little guy... Yep... I was going to be a "purist" I was going to only collect clear crystal salts... didn't want any ugly stickers or "paint" on em... nope... the dope got all that junk off em... LOL,LOL, LOL Now you want to set up a category of salts with stickers on them... Well... see ya in April!!! :-} I truly think there are quite a few square salts out there - Lots of them in silver - which I do love to polish and make shiny bright - and even porcelain and pottery - Guess we could add rectangular too -- Sometime when we run out of ideas we could take a couple of pages from the books and see if we can amongst all of us - account for each and every salt on the page -- I am not talking the Daum pages - But just regular salts - Guess that means we would have to work at the back of the OSC and mostly the H&J - Might be fun though -- Marks would be good too as long as SOME ONE OF US don't have to know what the mark means -- Hey this would be a way for SOME ONE OF US to find out what we have Ohhh, P.J., I am betting we all have a story of something interesting we have done. The money I have OVER SPENT on salts. AND EMBARRASSED to admit I still sometimes do it. When I do, sigh...i get angry at the salt and don't like it very much. Sometimes I worry about my brain. I - who have aided and abetted the Bimini Glass boom - threw away my first one because I thought it was plastic... I guess I have been on meds longer than I thought The Salty Nut... P.J :15 PM ET Mary... You're just too funny... I found these little ones while on the Rhine River In Pasau, Germany... WAY BACK WHEN??? Had NO idea they were salts... just thought they were just the prettiest little things... just had to have them... never thought they would make it home whole... they were sooo fragile... Well they are in my "primary" cabinet... eye level... front and... foremost... LOL!!! OK... This photo was just shot... ugh... against a kleenex and I tried to photo shop correct... the colors all seem to run together because I tried to rush it... anyway... the front one is the prettiest lavender and the two back ones are pretty green... these were the only three the glass shop had because the town was just recovering from a monumental flood... I should have gotten a card from the shop... dumb me... didn't know any better... live long enough and you learn... :-} :06 PM ET 296 A few last birds - Black blown glass with gold highlights. Edited :07 PM

You have seen these Cranes with a pink background?????? That would be so flipping awesome. I believe these to be very rare, only because I always look for them and never find them. Wonder what it means when the Nippon stamp can't be found. Jane, Your blow Rooster is beautiful :40 PM ET :40 PM ET Unpacked more birds Bird, bird, bird is the word
