2 INT. S BEDROOM- NOON The room is decorated as Winnie the Pooh s Hundred Acre Wood, with characters painted upon the walls and two lofted beds that look like tree houses. Jacee, who is eight, is seen sitting on the brown, carpeted floor, playing with two little kittens. Jeri, the oldest sister and who is eighteen, opens the door and enters the room. She closes the door, and ducks under the tree beds to come to the middle of the room where Jacee and the kittens are. Ugh, how can you touch those nasty rat-looking things? They re so cute and fuzzy though! They re ugly and filthy. Anyways, I came in here to see what you wanted for lunch. Jessica wants to cook for us. AND both make disgusted faces at one another and laugh. I ll just have a sandwich then. That s what I told her too! I m actually baking a cake right now, so we ll at least have dessert if she messes up lunch. The door is opened and they stop laughing as Jessica, who is 14, walks into the room. She is still in her pajamas, which are a matching pink shirt and shorts with yellow ducks on them and blue fuzzy slippers. Instead of just ducking under the beds, she army crawls across the floor and begins to pet a kitten. What are y all laughing about? Nothing, but we decided to just have sandwiches for lunch. Think you can handle that? A kitten starts to walk towards the bedroom door that was left open by Jessica.

3 Close the door! Don t let the rat get in the hallway! Jessica crawls to the door and closes it. She grabs the kitten and puts it back in the middle of the room with its brother. How am I supposed to get better at cooking if y all don t give me the chance to practice? Fine. I ll take a Hot Pocket. The timer for the cake to be brought out of the oven can be heard beeping from the kitchen. Jeri goes to leave room. A Hot Pocket? Can t y all challenge me a little more please? You can t even boil water! Hey! Why can t I get out of here? Jessica and Jacee turn to see Jeri struggling to open the bedroom door. Oooh, the door locks from the outside, remember? Then why did you close it?! Don t yell at me! You re the one who told me to close it!

4 Well that stinkin cat was trying to get out! You could have just shut the door a little, not completely, if you knew we d be locked in here. Well I forgot! They all three are quiet for a moment. The timer is still beeping and strawberry cake can be smelled in the bedroom as the cake continues to bake. So much for lunch Oh hush. Momma should be home from work early today since it s Friday. She ll be here any minute. Jeri walks to the window to watch for when their mom would drive up. It is raining. Jessica and Jacee continue to play with the kittens. Then the phone rings. Jeri runs to the door, forgetting it is locked, and runs fully into the door. Jessica and Jacee roll on the floor laughing. Shoot a monkey! Stupid door! Y all shut up! The message is about to play. The phone stops ringing outside the door and the message plays. MOM (V.O.) Hey girls. It s Mom. Pick up the phone. Hellllloooo. OK, well I was calling to let you know that your dad came and picked me up for lunch and then we re going shopping afterwards, so we won t be home for a few more hours. I left Jeri a list of things y all need to get done today, so

5 everything had better be done when we get home. I ll call back again to check on y all. Bye. Are you kidding me?! Yay! We don t have to do chores since we can t get out! Noo! Mom is going to kill us! We re supposed to have the house cleaned up because Mema and Papa are coming over tomorrow! And if Mom doesn t kill us, Mema sure will! Stop being so dramatic. Besides, neither one will have the chance, because if we don t get out of here soon, the cake is going to catch on fire and then the oven and then the kitchen, then it ll spread to the living room. And guess what s next.this bedroom. Jacee and Jessica stare at her with mouths open in shock. And I m the dramatic one? They all start laughing until a loud siren begins to go off. The smoke alarm in the kitchen has detected smoke. All three are scared now and Jacee begins to cry. We re going to die for real! Shut up! You re making it worse for Jacee. Just think of how we can get out of here. I ll run and kick down the door.

6 Oh whatever, you can t even kick a stick without getting hurt. And besides, if my running into the door earlier didn t bring it down, I don t know what will. Why don t we try the window? Brilliant! walks to the window and opens it, only to realize there is a screen keeping her from climbing out into the backyard. She starts the process of removing it when Jessica chimes in. Don t break it! Daddy will be mad if you do. Seriously? We re locked in a room with a smoke alarm blaring that the kitchen is on fire and no hope of someone coming home for a few more hours to save us. And you re worried about a screen window? You re right. Need some help? Jeri and Jessica work together and within a few seconds, popped the screen off the window. Woohoo! Alright, so who goes first? Jeri pats Jessica on the back and Jacee giggles. Why do I have to go? You re the oldest Jeri.

7 Yes, and as the oldest, I have decided you re the best to go out first because you re taller. What does that have anything to do with it? That s like a five foot drop from the window to the ground! All you have to do is put your leg out and you can touch! Whereas I d feel like I was jumping from the Empire State Building. But I m in my PJs! Should have thought about that sooner lazy butt. Now get out there! She pushes Jessica towards the window and drags the toy box over for her to step on. They both step up onto the toy box and Jessica starts to climb through the window. After she has her back end hanging out the window, Jessica can t feel the ground and gets too scared to move anymore. What re you doing? I can t do it! I can t feel the ground! And it s raining! Jeri starts to laugh which then causes Jessica to laugh as they realize how ridiculous this whole situation is. I ll bet the neighbors are wondering what we re doing.

8 I m sure they have better things to do than watch for us to do something crazy. EXT. NEIGHBOR S BACKYARD PORCH The older man and his wife are busy setting plants out under the patio roof so the rain will water them. The wife looks across the way into their neighbor s back yard and sees what appears to be a pink rear end hanging from the window and long legs with blue slippers kicking around frantically. JOAN Oh look Leroy, the Kyle girls are at it again. The husband looks up to see what she is talking about and they both pull up their lawn chairs and sit to watch what will happen next. INT. S BEDROOM I m getting wet and cold! Just let go of the window sill. You seriously only have two inches to drop. I can t do it! Jacee hops up onto the toy box beside Jeri. She takes Jessica s hands and pries them off the window. Jessica slips out of the window and crashes into the small bushes that were below her. Oww! I knew you could it! Now get us out of here! Jeri has fallen off the toy box laughing too hard and Jacee gets down after she sees Jessica getting up off the ground and walking to the back door.

9 The bedroom door opens and Jessica comes limping in wet and muddied. Still laughing, Jeri gets up and ducks under the beds and leaves the room to check on everything in the kitchen. Jessica looks at Jacee who has returned to petting a kitten. I hope you re happy. I d be happier if you made me a Hot Pocket. Jessica looks at her dumbfounded, but walks away toward the kitchen to help Jeri and to start lunch. The phone rings. Jacee runs and answers it. Hello? Hi Momma. Nothing, just playing with the cats. Jessica is about to make us lunch. Yeah, I ll tell Jeri to get the fire extinguisher just in case. As the phone conversation continues, it fades to black. END.
