Back to Message Board TOPIC: Golden Oldies V All messages of Debi Raitz :19 PM ET I don't want to restrict this to just clear glass with gold because there might not be that many. So I think once we look at all of our salts we will be surprised at how many have some form of gold added decoration. Anything goes - glass, china or any other material. My #10 should read "Stauffers" for ID I did wonder what staff members the gold salt belonged to, Nancy. lol 3 Moser cabochon with gilding.
8 Page 8 of The little on on the left is maybe-moser, the one on the right definitely not, but I do like it :47 PM ET Moser enamel with gilded edge, yellow & opal glass :53 PM ET The enamel work is delicate enough to possibly be Moser, no clear attribution. I have three of these in different colors :55 PM ET :57 PM ET Old Bohemian pedestal with different gilded flowers on each lobe.

Well, ladies, lots of beautiful salts already. We thought we had a lot of green salts, but this one may be the biggest month yet.

Think the two of mine are from Bohemian? about 1870?

Bob was finally up to some pictures for ebay and I asked him to take a picture of this little guy as I have tried every which way with my phone with no luck - Even Bob had trouble because it is a small bowl and the green is very pale so the decorations show through from the back - He did not make it in time for green - but the enameling on him is gold - The saying written across the front is "Remember Me" - Had to have been done for some special occasion and I would think there would be more out there - It came in a collection I bought and I fell in love with it right away - Love you #54, Judy, and your little green one, Mary.
14 Page 14 of 68 05:46 PM ET :51 PM ET There is something very poignant about Remember Me. Sweet too. I imagine it might have been a gift :37 PM ET While this one is still mine I will show it - Limoges square - Cobalt and gold - Very attractive little salt -- Yes Nancy - it could have been a special present - Funny I do not like monograms but this sweet sentiment - though it might be very personal - strikes my fancy and is okay 61 Debi Raitz :49 PM ET Lots of gold on this dog head condiment set. 62 Debi Raitz :51 PM ET Debi Raitz :52 PM ET One of the most beautifully decorated salts of this type I've ever seen.

Double rooster with gold. 66 Debi Raitz :04 PM ET :47 PM ET 68 Debi Raitz This little one has the most flowers I've ever seen on a salt. There's another similar grouping of pink you can just see the start of. Debi - You are right #62 has left me speechless - I got it from Sandy and I'm pretty sure it is in the Compendium. The colors on the robe outlined in gold are gorgeous. I should take bigger
16 Page 16 of :08 PM ET better pictures. I like the bamboo too. Whenever I see those tiny Satsuma ones I always like the one with the bamboo best. Maybe I'll get one someday, but it's low on my bucket list :41 AM ET 70 Lynda LaLonde :47 AM ET Beautiful salts I have "OSC & H&J" with a lot of beauties - but YOU surprise me still with more and more salts I have never seen before... Mine today are from Italy Debi, #62 and #66 are absolutely beautiful. The flowers in 66 are marvelous. The debt of the intricate artestry in 62. That's almost too beautiful. It needs an entire room dedicated to it...and I have just the room. Gotta go to OSC and see if I can find it. Don't remember seeing it. 19 Page 19 of 68 Pedestal - Moser wanna be 84 Susie P :49 AM ET Steuben 85 Susie P :51 AM ET Webb pair 86 Susie P :52 AM ET :45 AM ET Love the green and gold I love 86, Susie, don't have a green Moser. 83 might be Moser too--the raised enamel decorations look typical. Of course with it in hand you are the best judge. The ones with the flat gold squiggles are the most common fakes.
20 Page 20 of :08 PM ET Tiny Satsuma with two little men with gilding. The one in front has a golden shirt, and the one behind him has a gold ringlet on his head and something gold at his side, maybe a purse. It's better quality than many of this type :13 PM ET Several years ago I bought a set of twelve of these Satsuma pairs. The larger is only 2 3/8" wide and the little one 1 1/4". I can't imagine what the little one could hold, but they looked like a table setting for condiments. I eventually sold all but this one pair :39 PM ET Gold decorated celery salt :45 PM ET 92 Czech, Moser wannabe There's the "squiggles." Can't think what else to call them. Still pretty.
21 Page 21 of :57 PM ET :19 PM ET :13 PM ET Wow! Even if those aren't Moser, they are still very pretty. I should have posted these with #34 in clear. Just "found" them. Unidentified maker :33 PM ET Webb Burmese with gilding :23 PM ET :25 PM ET This is my black swan
22 Page 22 of 68 And the matching white swan. These are French and new :35 PM ET This one is so colorful and delicate :38 PM ET This is a delicate glass salt :43 PM ET :28 PM ET Gold & white Nancy - are those figures enameled or engraved? That is really unusual.
23 Page 23 of :02 PM ET :08 PM ET :45 PM ET I think they are engraved, Jane. I will have to hunt up the salt to give you a definitive answer I'll do it tomorrow. You got me wondering, also. Beautiful - Beautiful - Beautiful -- Question - Does Gold wash on the inside of silver count in here?? It is gold, Mary! :29 AM ET I'm just drooling - new beauties My salts today are from B&G - not with much gold but :30 AM ET And one with a little blue :32 AM ET And a Seagull "Fanny Garde" design
24 Page 24 of :32 AM ET And one more :35 AM ET This one is called "Sommerfugl" (butterfly) :11 AM ET Brightest gold wash on these Gorham Model A426 salts I have seen in a long time - Thanks for the Okay Jane - Probably only way silver is going to get into this topic -- Thanks for another beautiful morning :29 AM ET Pretty color :32 AM ET I think I got this one from Mary. It is so pretty.
25 Page 25 of :48 AM ET Oyster shell shape. The gold inside is so shiny that it photographs with a rainbow effect. The outside color is a gorgeous blue, but not cobalt :50 AM ET :57 AM ET :08 AM ET Silver rams with gold wash bowl - Adding nicely to the morning Nancy!!! Thanks, Mary. Love your silver with gold wash. Jane, you asked if on my #100, are the figures engraved or enameled? I just found that salt. The figures are enameled, but lightly. You have to feel them to know for sure. That is so unusual, Nancy! So Mary - maybe you should send them to me so I can decide definitively :47 PM ET 118 Ruby red pedestal.
26 Page 26 of 68 Lynda LaLonde :21 PM ET :12 PM ET :38 PM ET 121 Janelle :50 AM ET Sue Sawyer :18 AM ET Nancy D, #117...Beautiful. I love it, too, Nancy! WHOA - you been hiding some on us Nancy - Drool and Covet!!! Some serious bling this month. Many of which I now want. How's a girl supposed to restrain buying more. Restrain?! That word is not in my vocabulary :55 PM ET :18 PM ET Little ruby drinks cup, 1 3/4x1 3/4. Almost a salt. I love that shape, Nancy! You'll be seeing some of mine when my photographer gets going.

28 Page 28 of 68 Night views - very nice... My salt I don't know much about 130 Janelle :10 AM ET Some lovely salts being shown. This one is Australian. In the shape normally seen as made in Glass by Crown Crystal but this is ceramic with Gardic or Gardie Australia on the bottom. It is really hard to find salts made here. 131 Janelle :14 AM ET Debi Raitz :17 AM ET Hammersley Fine Bone China 1939 Mark. Not quite 2 1/2" wide 1" high
29 Page 29 of 68 : Your #129 has etching very similar to mine. They are found under Czech glass in the catalogs in a couple different shapes. I have three shapes with the cobalt. 133 Janelle :18 AM ET Janelle :19 AM ET Japanese? Centre has small scene and also around the outside. 2 1/2" wide 1/2" tall. Mark underneath Nice one Debi :22 AM ET :43 AM ET Thanks Debi! and pretty salts... Another where I have written Europe... This is turning out to be a great topic! So many salts I've never seen before.
30 Page 30 of Susie P :42 PM ET :25 PM ET Debi, 132 is Amazing!! And I am with Jane, Great Topic!!!. So Many gorgeous salts!! Lots of pretties and as Jane said - Some we have not seen before - Thanks for the easy viewing this month!! :38 PM ET Crown Dresden by Helena Wolfsohn circa :40 PM ET One of my favorite footsie salts -- Wait they are all my favorite if they have footsies - This one is by Ginori Pittoria 141 Judy in Texas :15 AM ET :37 AM ET Was looking for another picture and found this one...i've had the salt a very long time. I think it has the most original gold than any salt in my collection.
31 Page 31 of :57 AM ET :48 AM ET :59 AM ET :15 PM ET :18 PM ET Pretty salts Mary and Judy My today-salt is a "Royal Doulton with gold Slater patent decoration" say OSC #650 Such pretty china salts! I forgot that the Doulton Slater gold swirls would fit this caategory,. And I love the footed salt and the Crown Dresden, Mary. Maybe I'm not such a glassie after all. Two Crown Milano and a Mt. Washington with pansies. I've repurposed an old smoking set stand to hold them. Edited :59 PM Two Mt Washington with the gold Prunus Blossom pattern, one sadly chipped but too sweet to throw away. Perfect use for the smoking stand, Nancy. I do have a couple of match holders, but I'm still in the market for a humidor. lol
32 Page 32 of :14 PM ET Very nice display Nancy - but I am confused by your "Royal Doulton with Pansies" -- I am going to have pull Elaine's book and see if I have missed something - Would not be the first time -- Love the Crown Milano - Think I am having second thoughts about having sold the one I had and only keeping one - Oh well a new restart on an old subcollection - lol :29 AM ET :48 PM ET :23 PM ET :55 PM ET Well dingley dang - Proves I am not too old yet - I can still learn something - There is a Royal Doulton PANSY pattern and it is stunning - Thanks for keeping my brain functioning one more day Nancy - So if I can't have my salt in one like you - I can maybe sip my coffee - Know the picture is not a salt - but in case anyone else was as dense as me and did not know about the Doulton Pansy pattern this was a very pretty example My slip-up, Mary. Of course I should have said Mt. Washington on the ribbed glass salt with pansies. I got it right on the two little ones, and the chipped one has the Smith Bros. decorating stamp, one reason I keep it. The thing, of course, is that Doulton pieces are china, and the Mt. Washington salts are opaque glass. I think I had Doulton on my mind because I had just recognized 's Slater patent salt as much like one of mine. My mind can hold one thought at a time at best. I'm failing to get a message with photo posted. Is it me or the site? Doulton Lambeth with the gilded circles and additional decoration.
33 Page 33 of :57 PM ET :35 PM ET Bottom of the salt with three little legs, the Lambeth mark, and several sets of initials, none of which I can identify. I did the magic thing--reboot, and the problem was me. Well we were both a little dingy Nancy - I missed the part about the difference between glass and china - Got so enthralled with the pansy pattern --- Hmm when I am up to it - I need to go to the nursery and get some pansy plants for my one little flower area - that is if the glads have not completely dominated it this year -- Any who - pardon my porcelain/pottery mind - you know it always goes there first :10 PM ET Well looks like I put a damper on this board so I will just take it over -- Miniature taza style with a tad bit of gold :11 PM ET :11 PM ET Top shot
34 Page 34 of 68 Third Taza :12 PM ET :13 PM ET One of my sweet Limogese - did I spell that wrong again -- I love this style with squishy side handles :14 PM ET :16 PM ET Limoges Gout de Ville Limoges pheasants -- My goodness with my faience and my little porcelains one would think I was French rather than Hungarian/English
35 Page 35 of Enough of my nonsense and board captivity - I give it all up for the greater cause of sharing Janelle :38 PM ET :47 PM ET :50 PM ET :45 AM ET A few heraldic salts, the three at the back with three handles. All with a touch of gold. That Tazza is rather special Mary. Thanks Janelle - I think Don purchased the third one but I still have the other two - I love them and have not been able to find more - Big Bummer -- lol I love the shape of your heraldic lower left corner - Like your tazzas a lot, Mary. And your heraldic, Janelle. Love the lady and the unicorn, Janelle! I have a cute miniature heraldic condiment set, covered mustard, shaker, and open salt fused together. I haven't checked to see if there is any gold :38 PM ET :42 PM ET Another swan with lots of gold in bowl.
36 Page 36 of 68 Pretty swan :48 AM ET Very nice morning! Nancy - how many swans do you have? And now some Italy salts - I'll just call them 1, 2, :48 AM ET :49 AM ET 1

39 Page 39 of :59 AM ET :35 AM ET :55 AM ET 183 Sue Sawyer :42 AM ET You hardly ever see blue,! Or the shape of #7 - Very nice!! Nancy D and Sue are our Swan Guardians and I think their ponds are probably fuller than most - lol, love the colors of your Italian glass salts. Never counted all my swans, but I do have many. For some reason I'm drawn to them. Yes, I do love the swans also. I have somewhere north of 130 swan salts and around 40 who don't hold salt. Always looking for another one :16 AM ET :18 AM ET For the "Swan Ladies" Nancy - I knew about you - but Sue - this I didn't know. I think Lacy Salts are what I can't resist :-) and some small French glass with a metal-rim - the problem is - I don't know anything about these A swan with gold from "Decor Main", Paris, France
40 Page 40 of 68 Gaudeville, Limoeges, France :22 AM ET :38 AM ET :04 PM ET And here a pair of them I can't resist right now - unfortunately they "don't hang on the trees" France, the only thing I can tell you about your swan is "Décor Main" is French for hand decorated. I love, love, love your #186! Thanks Jane - you are the French expert?? perhaps I should use a translator now and then :-) And yes I'm also crazy about these petit French beauties - and I'm still seaching for informations
41 Page 41 of :02 PM ET about them And I forgot a swan for the Swan Ladies I know a little French, and a little German, and a little Spanish, but I'm definitely not an expert! :52 PM ET These aren't mine, but I wish they were :55 PM ET 192 Sue Sawyer :24 PM ET Debi Raitz :41 PM ET :57 AM ET Another pair that I covet Thanks for the eye candy,. : Your #188 has been found with labels marked Bayel, France. The Duncan Miller reference in H&J is wrong. Ed Bowman has them on his Color List under references on the website. Thanks Debi - I have just found it in France - thats why I didn't write Duncan Miller at #188 Now I have tried to take a pic of the label at Ed Bowman's list - I cant get it clear - but still I'll try to add it to my swans And thanks for your kind comments all
42 Page 42 of Debi Raitz :58 AM ET :51 AM ET : I found this image on Bing. I think it's the same shield shaped label but it might be a more recent one. Thanks Debi - I think I'll add both :02 PM ET Newest salt, just arrived. Fits into this category. It's tiny, 2" x 1 1/4", 1 1/4" tall. Probably Bohemian, gold patterns look like it :03 PM ET :24 PM ET 200 Debi Raitz Gilded pattern on the ends. Very pretty, Nancy!
43 Page 43 of :39 PM ET Debi Raitz :44 PM ET That's the shape I'd like to find with cobalt Nancy. It's shown in the Czech catalog. Forgot the company name right now, but it's there. I thought it was square. Always learning something new! Here's the page. It's Hosch. I have the round one (#5033). Yours is #5034. I also have the pedestal I showed earlier and an oval one not shown on this page :37 AM ET Lovely morning!! Greetings from Funen Glaswork :37 AM ET And from China :41 AM ET 205 Czechoslovakia
44 Page 44 of :13 PM ET :21 PM ET Susie P :04 PM ET :56 AM ET That's it on the Czech Hosch catalog, Debi. Thanks. There are two more still listed on ebay if anyone wants this one with green and gold. It's very pretty. I think mine has less gold loss than the photos on the listing. Don't you love those 1912 prices? It's like looking at company prices for American salts that were priced by the dozen. If prices keep coming down, we may be close to that again. Oh,, the pair in 186, no words, beyond GORGEOUS! Well you took care of my morning dry mouth!! 209 Susie P :16 AM ET Susie P :17 AM ET A few more I believe Nancy D has a twin?

Debi gave a link to the catalog page a few posts below. This round shape might be the #5013.
46 Page 46 of Susie P :26 PM ET :34 PM ET Susie, regarding #210, not quite the twin. Yours has more gold. Hi Nancy D, okay - close cousins then!!pretty salt!! Nice to see a variation. Love them both :50 AM ET Lovely morning - Susie I love your ducks Nearly forgot my Flora Danica :52 AM ET And the small fat (for butter or salt?)

Love the KPM ones. The San Fran loser looks like the gold rush to me. KPM is good - Lots of knock-offs that are pretty nice looking in their own right also -
50 Page 50 of :03 PM ET My last one is an Unknown - Shown in the OSC Plate See Nancy - That was what it was supposed to do - Make you think of the gold rush - It may have lost the vote - but it sure won my heart :28 PM ET :29 PM ET Well as long as I am taking over the board here - I forgot about Dopplewandglass - So Here is #1 #2 is a pair - How appropriate :30 PM ET :30 PM ET #3
