3 ENTRY FEES $38.00 per first entry of each dog. $28.00 per additional entry of same dog (Fee includes AKC Recording Fee of $3.50 per 1st run/$3.00 additional run/per dog) DOGS ELIGIBLE TO ENTER This trial is open only to Vizslas 15 months and older that are registered with the American Kennel Club. Dogs must have a valid DNA number. Bitches in season, aggressive dogs, dogs that are blind or deaf or suffering from any deformity, injury, or illness which may affect its physical or mental performance are not eligible to participate. Dogs with a Purebred Alternative Listing/Indefinite Listing Privileges (PAL/ILP) must be spayed or neutered in order to compete. Wherever the word dog is used in these regulations it includes both sexes. CLASSES OFFERED All standard, jumpers, FAST, and T2B classes, regular and preferred, will be offered. Please consult AKC rules and regulations pertaining to Agility Trials for complete description and eligibility for entry in these classes. The exhibitor is fully responsible for entering the dog in the correct class/division. ROSETTE PRIZES Rosettes will be awarded to the first through fourth places in each jump height class. Dark Green qualifying rosettes will be awarded to all dogs receiving a qualifying score. Dogs must achieve a qualifying score to receive a placement rosette. First place...blue Rosette Second place...red Rosette Third place..yellow Rosette Fourth place....white Rosette AGILITY PRIZES The Vizsla Club of America, Inc. through the generosity of its members and friends offers a Carved Vizsla Tile for first placements in agility competition. Contributors to the General Fund and trophy sponsors will be listed in the National Events Catalog and in the Vizsla News. Purina Pro Plan Small Thermal Sack offered by Purina for first in each class. ALL PRIZES, IF NOT AWARDED IN THE RING, MUST BE PICKED UP DURING THE EVENT AT THE PURINA BOOTH. PRESENTATION OF THE WINNING RIBBON IS REQUIRED. PURINA RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MAKE PRIZE SUBSTITUTIONS OF EQUAL OR GREATER VALUE IN THE EVENT A SPECIFIC LISTED PRIZE IS NOT AVAILABLE. COURSE SIZE, SURFACE, AND TIMERS The ring for all classes will be approximately 110. X 80 ft. The surface is 1/2 inch Comfort King Matting. Electronic timers will be used. COURSE FAMILIARIZATION AND WARM-UPS Handlers in all classes are permitted to walk the course, without a dog, during a walk-through period held prior to the start of the class. The walk-through is restricted to handlers entered in that class only. No practicing in the ring will be permitted at any time. A warm-up area, consisting of a regulation agility jump, will be provided for exhibitors. The warm-up area is to be used exclusively for warming up the dog and not for training or relieving of the dog. Umbrellas are not allowed on the course during the walk thru. MOVE-UPS Move ups must be sent in writing with the information on page 6 ( is acceptable and preferred) to the Trial Secretary no later than Monday, April 22, 2013 at 6pm (CDT). WAIT LIST FOR WITHDRAWN ENTRIES After the closing date, VCA is offering a Wait List to fill openings created by withdrawn entries after closing. A maximum of 25 entries will be placed on the wait list. All entries including wait listed entries must be received by the Trial Secretary prior to April 10, PM. Any entries withdrawn prior to April 10, PM, will be replaced by a wait list entry, a full refund will be given to withdrawn entries when wait listed entries are available to replace the pulled entry. Any wait list entry that does not move off the wait list into the trial by Monday, April 22, 2013 at 6pm (CDT) will receive a full refund. 3

4 HEIGHT DIVISIONS AND AKC HEIGHT CARDS Owners/Agents are responsible for entering the proper height divisions. NEW Simplified Jump Height Card Process When filling out the entry form, there is a new section at the top of the form for exhibitors to designate whether your dog has a valid jump height card or if your dog needs to be measured. Please check the appropriate box so that the Trial Secretary knows whether to include your dog on the Dogs To Be Measured List. It is no longer required that you submit a copy of your dog s jump height card with your entry form or show it during day of show checkin. REGULAR PREFERRED INFORMATION Exhibitors may chose to enter their dog in a higher height division than required by AKC, but not in a lower height division than the AKC mandated height. All dogs entering the Preferred Classes for the first time MUST enter at the NOVICE level in both Pref. Std. and Pref. JWW. The following jump heights shall be used in all Preferred classes. Owners are responsible for entering their dog in the proper height division For dogs measuring 8 4 For dogs 11 inches & under at the withers 12 8 For dogs 14 inches & under at the withers For dogs 18 inches & under at the withers inches & under at the withers over 22 inches at the withers Dogs may be entered at this height at their owner s discretion. Effective January 1, 2010, exhibitors are no longer required to provide proof to Trial Secretaries that their dog has a valid jump height card as part of the check-in process. Furthermore, this change eliminates the need for a copy of the jump height card to be submitted with an entry form. Dogs without a valid Jump Height Card/Form may still compete; but they must be measured/wicketed by the Judge of Record PRIOR to running in their class and this measurement will be valid for that weekend of trials only. The exception to this requirement is a dog entered in the 24 or 26 height division. However, if a Volunteer Measuring Official (VMO) or an Agility Field Rep is present; ALL dogs without a valid Jump Height Card/Form must be measured at some time during the trial or cluster of trials. This does not preclude having the dog wicketed by the Judge of Record if the VMO or Rep is not available to measure the dog before its first run of the trial or cluster of trials. It is the exhibitor s responsibility to have their dog measured prior to running and failure to do so will result in the cancellation of any qualifying scores. 6 Dogs shall be moved up to a higher class at the request of the owner, as a result of the dog qualifying for an agility title. The request for moving up must be made to the Trial Secretary not later than 6:00 p.m. (CDT) on Monday, April 22, All move-up entries are subject to availability of the class and payment of any difference in entry fee. It is the option of the club to allow move-ups. Dogs so moved-up will be entered at the end of the running order. Refer to Chapter 1, Section 12 of the Regulations for Agility Trials for additional move-up requirements. Regulations for Agility Trials, Chapter 1, Section 21, (Effective June 1, 2010.) A dog which has been entered in a Novice A class for which it is not eligible to be entered in due to class restrictions on the dog or handler may be moved to the Novice B class under the following conditions: The request for the move must be in writing and presented to the superintendent or the trial secretary at least 30 minutes prior to the start of each trial. Dogs moved up will run at the end of the running order. 6

11 Notice to Exhibitors Entries will not be accepted before Wednesday, February 27, :00 am (CDT). Any entry received before February 27th will be returned. Entries close at 6:00 PM (CDT) Wednesday, April 10, Telephone, telegraph, , telefax and unsigned entries cannot be accepted. Incomplete or illegible entries will not be accepted. No entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies any conditions as to its acceptance. Entries must be on official AKC entry forms or copies & must include the agreement and rules from the reverse side of the official AKC entry form. INCLUDE ONLY AKC/VCA TITLES ON ENTRY. A maximum of 10 entries per envelope is allowed. Envelopes with more than 10 entries and/or entries received prior to the opening date will be returned. Entry fees are $38.00 per dog, $28.00 for each additional entry of the same dog. Make all checks and money orders payable to: VCA-NE. All fees are payable in U.S. Funds. Anyone who submits any payment to the VCA, that is later returned by the bank or charged back to the VCA by the secretary for any reason will be assessed a $30.00 returned item fee by the VCA. The total fees must be paid before the entry is judged. All phone calls to the Trial Secretary will be returned COLLECT to the caller. If you would like to know the status of your entry prior to the issuance of the judging schedule upon closing, please enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope or postcard along with your entry. confirmations of entry receipt will be sent to those listing a legible address on the entry form. The Vizsla Club of America, Inc. assumes no responsibility for the owner or owner s agent entering a dog in a class in which it is not eligible to compete, or for entering the same dog twice. The Club and its members assume no responsibility for wrong or incomplete information given on the entry blank by the owner or the owner s agent. The Vizsla Club of America, Inc. may decline any entries for cause and may refuse to receive or may remove any dog on account of disease, viciousness or other causes, and no one shall have any claim or recourse against the club or any official thereof. Entry fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of Trial Committee. If, because of riots, civil disturbances or other acts beyond the control of the organizing committee, it is impossible to open or to complete the trial, no refund of entry fee will be made. Extreme weather conditions, such as, but not limited to snow storms, hurricanes, lightning, extreme heat, must be considered for the health and safety of the dogs, exhibitors and spectators. The well-being of dogs, exhibitors and spectators is of paramount importance and, in the event it is necessary to cancel or stop the trial before completion, no entry fees will be refunded. Bitches in season will not be admitted to the Trial. Any exhibitor with a bitch entered, which is in season on the Trial date, will be refunded one-half of the entry fees. Written notification must be in the hands of the the Trial Secretary no later than one hour before the start of the trial. Dogs are not required to be at the trial until the scheduled time of judging. Exhibitors are responsible for checking in with the gate steward prior to their run. Exhibitors are responsible for being at ringside when it is their turn to run. Exhibitors with conflicts must communicate with the gate steward prior to their class and gain agreement from the judge. Judges need not wait for dogs who are holding up the class. Pinch collars, electric and dummy electric collars are prohibited. Exhibitors may wear shirts or insignia of their training group. Exhibitors are governed by all the rules and regulations of the American Kennel Club, civil authorities and/or building or location restrictions. All exhibitors should obtain a copy of the Regulations for Agility Trials by downloading them from the American Kennel Club website at These trials will be held under these revised rules including amendments thereafter. Exhibitors are expected to be familiar with all rules & regulations. 11

12 Notice to Exhibitors (Cont.) Bring CLEAN athletic shows. NO SPIKE SHOES OR HEELS on the mats. Trail running shoes are not recommended, regular athletic shoes are best. The matting is a foam anti-fatigue flooring and can be easily damaged with improper shoes. NO FIRM GRIP SPRAY ALLOWED. It is damaging to all floors including concrete. The safety of the dogs is our primary concern. By entering this trial, exhibitors acknowledge that they are familiar with the rules and regulations of agility events and the agreement with the American Kennel Club. They also acknowledge that their dogs are familiar with and able to perform all obstacles safely. Exhibitors should follow their veterinarians recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. All dogs must be on a leash at all times except when in the ring or when in the designated agility warm-up areas. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to the person exhibiting the dog, who will be considered to be the owner or authorized agent. All claims for trophies and other prizes must be made before completion of the judging of the trial, and the trial secretary advised at once in the event of any discrepancy. The trial-giving club disclaims any liability for prizes after the judging is finished. No trophies will be mailed. It is expressly understood that exhibitors alone are responsible for the behavior of their dogs and/ or children. Any exhibitor whose dog and/or children create unnecessary disturbances or repeatedly engage in unsafe or disruptive behavior may, at the discretion of the Trial Committee, be asked to leave the trial site. In such case, no refund of any fees paid will be made. Food will be available for purchase on site through Cross Roads Shelter. There are restaurants and fast food vendors within a short driving distance from the show site also. The Vizsla Club of America, Inc. is not responsible for the actions or products of commercial vendors at this trial. No practicing in the rings will be permitted at any time. Please have dogs use designated areas for their exercise needs. Owners/handlers must clean up after their dogs. No exceptions. Trash cans and plastic bags will be available.
