2 A Note from the Outreach Coordinator Ronda Bermke Upcoming Programs PKC Outreach has many upcoming programs. Please let Ronda know if you are available and willing to participate. Please remember that you need to be a Club member (not a trainee), and your dog needs a current copy of his/her rabies certificate on file with Outreach. Your dog needs to be very friendly with people and other dogs. Ronda will get back to those interested in each program with details regarding where to meet and parking information a few days prior to the event. Pulaski Summer School Program ~ Tuesday, June 26, 8-11 a.m. This will be an outdoor demo/program for two summer school sessions. Camp Lloyd ~ Thursday, June 28, 11 a.m.-noon (on UW-Green Bay Campus) This is a day camp for children dealing with grief from the death of a loved one. This program will involve socializing with the dogs to provide compassion and support. Algoma Farmer s Market ~ Sundays, July 8, September 2, October 7, 9 a.m.-noon We will have a table set up within the Farmer s Market to answer general dog questions and be available for socializing. We are looking for well-behaved dogs around crowds and children to spend time at our booth. This event is held outdoors. Childcare in Suamico ~ Wednesday, July 11, 9-10 a.m. This will be a demo for school age children followed by socializing. More Outreach next page...

4 PKC Outreach Super Stars Debbie Austin & Vincent Hello! Vincent and I are new to attending Outreach visits with other PKC members. Vincent and my other dog Ritz were both at Sweet Street last October. Since then, Vincent and I have started visiting schools and healthcare facilities with PKC Outreach members. Ritz is not one to enjoy visiting with people very much. But she is a good demo dog and has substituted petting for showing off all of her tricks. Vincent has become an all-around visiting dog - enjoying his demos and leaning against everyone s legs for a good petting. These visits have also been good practice for concentration on his skills. Thanks go to Ronda for organizing all of these Outreach visits! And thanks for including us!

6 AGILITY RUN-THRUS Packerland Kennel Club will be conducting Agility Run-Thrus at the Horse Barn located at the Brown County Fairgrounds, 1500 Ft. Howard Avenue, De Pere, WI Run-Thrus will take place from 7-8:30 p.m. on the following Mondays: June 25 July 9, 16, 23, 30 Cost of run-thrus will be $5 for 2 runs of 3 minutes each. 7 PKC The spring session of Canine Good Citizen has come to an end. Thank you so much to Amy Heim, Candee Brey, Wendee Draves, Bree Draves and Cody Sulewski for helping each week with this class and filling in when I was traveling and for being our test crowd. And, we can t forget to thank our greeter dog, Cal the Collie! Thanks also to Faith Beam, Kay Detample, Rob Bermke and Jerry Sulewski for testing this session of CGC teams. We can t offer the CGC class or test without the help of our Club members. Thank you for making my job easy!! 8 Business Meeting Minutes Packerland Kennel Club Business Meeting April 5, 2018 Approved: The meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m. by the President, Jerry Sulewski. President s Report: Jerry is working on getting new keys for the kennel club. Meeting with Dave Dachlet and Les Beam soon. March Dog Show went well. Grooming was more spacious and organized. Treasurer s Report: Debbie Austin stated the March balance of $$ for a year-to-date total of $$. Considerations for the negative March balance include fairgrounds rental and new Agility table. Corresponding Secretary: Kristie Katch read a thank you note written by Lisa Williams to PKC. For those who don t know, her husband recently passed away. Points for AKC Conformation are changing. Second reading and vote into membership for Danielle and Kurt Vanderbloemen. They have two Golden Retrievers, do not breed or offer stud services and do not belong to any other clubs. They are sponsored by Gary Roberson and Shellie Ambrosious. Welcome to PKC! First reading for two applications: Gary, Marsha & Danielle Lefko. They have a Lab/Border Collie mix, do not breed or offer stud services and do not belong to any other clubs. Sponsored by Karen Gordon and June Ashford. Bailey Post. She has a Rough Collie and a Terrier mix, does not breed, offer stud services or belong to any other clubs. Sponsored by Debbie Austin and Keith Rosin. Recording Secretary: Jessica Nelson read the March 7 Business Meeting minutes and they were approved with the following details changed: Award Banquet dinner is free for head instructors and board members; names on the applications need to be added. A motion was made by Karen Smith to approve the minutes as read, with changes, and seconded by Ellen Kramer. Motion passed. Committee Reports: Keith Rosin said the Agility equipment will be moved from the kennel club to the fairgrounds on April 19 at 6 p.m. If you are able to volunteer, please meet at the club. If you will be available around 7 p.m., please meet at the Brown County fairgrounds, at the horse barn. Enter the fairgrounds and turn left, horse barn is straight ahead, parallel to the street you entered off of. Agility Trial will be held on June 1-3. Premium is on the PKC Facebook page, and more information will be sent out by Keith via . Intro to Agility and Beginner s Agility instructors are needed. Classes are scheduled for Monday, but other days are also available. Questions, Comments and Announcements: Grad Puppy class is no longer available due to the small class size. People who were signed up for this class have been talked with and reassigned to the appropriate class. Mary Scott is in charge of the member list. 9 Business Meeting Minutes Packerland Kennel Club Business Meeting May 7, 2018 Approved: Meeting was called to order at 7:13 a.m. by Vice-President John Heyn. John Heyn introduced Erin Steier as the newly appointed Recording Secretary. President's Report: no report, Jerry not in attendance. Treasurer's Report: Debbie Austin reported a small loss of $$ for the month of April. This was in part due to the expenses of the Awards Banquet and awards given out at the banquet. Year-to-date total is $$. Recording Secretary Report: Erin Steier read the Board Meeting Minutes from May 1, 2018 and the Board Meeting Minutes from May 7, Corresponding Secretary Report: Kristie Katch read two second membership readings: Bailey Post has a rough Collie and a Terrier mix, does not breed or offer stud services and is sponsored by Debbie Austin and Keith Rosin. Gary, Marsha & Danielle Lefko have a Lab/Border Collie mix, do not breed or offer stud services and are sponsored by Karen Gordon and June Ashford. Kristie Katch had a first reading for Ann, Peter, Phillip and Jacob Birdsall, have Golden Retrievers, do not breed or offer stud services and are sponsored by Julie Daul and Nancy Watts. Old Business: June Ashford stated that the deal she worked out with Lizer Landscaping was for removing weeds and clearing the ditch, not the Club fencing. Dave Dachlet said that Tim Bauknecht was involved with this the last time. Debbie Austin said she was working on setting up the lawn mowing schedule at the Club. Sandy Mineau, Emily Reiser, Erin Steier and Derek Townsend have volunteered to help out. New Business: Karen Gordon asked that persons involved with Club communications form a committee to discuss information given out through the various lines of communication. John Heyn stated he thought that was a good idea. Erin Steier agreed. Karen will collect contact information for all involved. June Ashford asked if the expandable gates used at the Club could be replaced with gates that are safer for classes. She also asked if some Agility equipment could be left at the Club for the K9 Sampler Class. Derek Townsend is working on pricing and will build 20 gates. 10 Board Meeting Minutes Packerland Kennel Club Board Meeting ~ May 30, 2018 Approved: Present: Jerry Sulewski, John Heyn, Lynn Des Jardin, Mary Jones, Debbie Austin, Kristie Katch, Derek Townsend, Cheryl Sulewski, JoLynne Stewart Meeting called to order at 7:05 p.m. by president Jerry Sulewski. President s Report: Jerry Sulewski is still working with Martin Hardware to have the PKC building re-keyed. This project should be completed in the next two weeks. Treasurer s Report: Debbie Austin reported the May income/loss is $$, with the year-to-date income/loss at $$. No income is recorded yet for the June Agility Trials and there is still an outstanding check from the NE Wisconsin Dog Show Classic. Mary Jones presented the Cash Flow chart from the Dog Shows, indicating both Manitowoc and Packerland Clubs with profits of approximately $$ each. Debbie asked Mary about restrictions for camping at the Dog Shows. Recording Secretary Report: Lynn Des Jardin read minutes from the April 5, 2018 Business Meeting and the May 7, 2018 Business Meeting in Recording Secretary Erin Steier s absence. A motion to accept the April Business Meeting minutes was made by Cheryl Sulewski and seconded by Debbie Austin. Motion passed. A motion was made by Kristie Katch to accept the May Business Meeting minutes and seconded by John Heyn. Motion passed. Corresponding Secretary Report: Kristie Katch had a first reading for membership for Mary, John, Michelle, Alyssa & Julia Warron. They have a German Shepherd, do not breed or offer stud services and don t belong to any other clubs. They are sponsored by Karen Gordon and June Ashford. Old Business: Debbie Austin reported that the contents of the storage unit PKC rents is now added to our insurance policy. Kristie Katch offered to get quotes from other insurance companies to be sure we are paying competitive rates. Kristie made a motion to get quotes from other companies, Derek Townsend seconded the motion. Motion passed. Debbie thanked the lawn mowing crew for helping out cutting the grass at PKC. The lawn mowers are Sandy Mineau, Emily Reiser, Erin Steier and Derek Townsend. Debbie will contact Ken Sulewski in regards to the heating/ac unit. Debbie needs to know how to program it for AC now that it is summer. Director of Training Report: Derek Townsend reported that if he can t find anyone to help with the Director of Training position he will resign. He doesn t have the time this position requires to devote to it. Cheryl Sulewski offered to assist Derek by answering s related to training. Derek and Cheryl will be Co-Directors of Training. Derek priced materials and has offered to build new gating for the Club, at an approximate cost of $427. A motion was made by Kristie Katch for the gating project and seconded by Debbie Austin. Motion passed. Cheryl Sulewski asked at what age puppies can start classes at PKC, as she gets asked this question by trainees. It was agreed at 16 weeks of age they may start classes, as long as they have had negative fecal checks and started vaccinations prior to training. Proof of Rabies vaccinations will be needed when the puppies are old enough to vaccinate. There was a discussion on the age of puppies to begin training. It was decided that puppies can begin classes at 8 weeks of age, as long as they present proof of a negative fecal exam and have had their first round of vaccinations. Sandy Dunand made a motion to change the puppy eligibility age for classes from 16 weeks to 8 weeks, seconded by Francine Lutz. Motion passed. Debbie Austin is looking into finding someone to alter the size of some leashes we have in the equipment cabinet at the Club that are not selling. She also stated there are now buckle pinch collars for sale in the cabinet. Jerry Sulewski contacted Erik Swan to discuss updating the PKC web site. A motion was made by Kristie Katch to have Cheryl Sulewski be the liaison between PKC and the web master for updates to the web site and was seconded by Lynn Des Jardin. Motion passed.
