4 The Pekingese Club of America Presents Thursday Evening November 15, 7: 00 PM Members and non-members are invited ~ Cocktail Attire ~ Hors d Oeuvres ~ Cash Bar Friday Afternoon Road Trip What s Brewing With Anheuser-Busch Sharing Our Story Discover how the country s favorite beer is crafted by following it through the steps of the brewing process. Since its founding in 1852 in St Louis, Anheuser-Busch has been perfecting this process, taking pride in producing the world s finest beer, one barrel at a time. The tour will include the historic Brew House, the Budweiser Clydesdale stabe, the beechwood lagering cellar, the packaging plant, the hospitality room (yup, that s the tasting room) and the Anheuser-Busch gift shop. PCA has chartered a bus for the trip down and back for an all inclusive price with of $25. The bus will leave the hotel after the show and lunch on Friday and return in time for the Membership Meeting and PCA Dinner. Prepayment must be made to Cliff Jones prior to November 7. Best of Breed Competition The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed Competition: Dogs that are Champions of Record and dogs that according to their owner s records have completed the requirements for a Championship but whose Championships are unconfirmed. The showing of dogs whose Championships are unconfirmed is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where a dog completed the requirements for a Championship according to owner s records. Select Dog Select Bitch Awards of Merit Best Puppy from the Regular Puppy Classes Best from the Veterans Classes Best from the Bred by Exhibitor Classes Non-Regular Classes Involving Multiple Dog Entries Entry Fee $20.00 for each Unit STUD DOG CLASS: For Stud Dogs and two of their Get. Stud Dogs must be entered in the Stud Dog Class and must be shown in the ring with their Get. The owner of the Stud Dog need not necessarily be owner of the Get. While the merits of the Stud Dog are not to be considered in the placement of the entry, the Stud Dog must be examined to determine if it has a condition that would require its disqualification or excusal under the Dog Show Rules, AKC policy or the standard for its Breed. Get must be entered in a regular class, Best of Breed competition or some other non-regular class. BROOD BITCH CLASS: For Brood Bitches and two of their Produce. Brood Bitches must be entered in the Brood Bitch Class and must be shown in the ring with their Produce. The owner of the Brood Bitch need not necessarily be owner of the produce. While the merits of the Brood Bitch are not to be considered in the placement of the entry, the Brood Bitch must be examined to determine if it has a condition that would require its disqualification or excusal under the Dog Show Rules, AKC policy or the standard for its Breed. Produce must be entered in a regular class, Best of Breed competition or some other non-regular class. NOTE: As the judge s decision in the Stud Dog or Brood Bitch Class is based on the merits of more than one dog or bitch, no one of the dogs or bitches making up the entry judged first in the class will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed by virtue of having won this class. Owners will sign the Responsible Dog Owners Pledge attesting to having the dog under the routine care of a veterinarian who will work with the owner to determine an appropriate plan and schedule for vaccines and other health care procedures. There is no age limit for the CGC test. A dog is never too old to be a good citizen. Puppies who have completed all immunizations and boosters may be tested, however, because we know that behavior and temperament can change over time, when puppies pass the CGC test, owners should have them re-tested as adults. 11 Awards of Merit Awards of Merit Medallions will be offered at the PCA Regional and National Specialties. PCA Awards of Merit and are open to all. After Best of Breed, Best of Winners and Best of Opposite Sex are awarded, the judge may award Awards of Merit. The number of Awards of Merit awarded will be based on the number of dogs and bitches in competition in the Best of Breed class including winners dog and winners bitch. There is one Award of Merit available for dogs in actual competition (not entries) in the Best of Breed class including the Winners Dog and Winners Bitch as follows: 10 through 14 dogs in actual competition = 1 Medal 15 through 24 dogs in actual competition = 2 Medals 25 through 34 dogs in actual competition = 3 Medals. crufts qualification The winners of the following awards at the National Specialty will qualify for Crufts and will be presented with a Crufts qualifying certificate: Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex, Awards of Merit and Best Bred-by Exhibitor.
