ROMAN CHAMOMILE (Anthemis) The most effective essential oil for taking the fire and itch out of hot spot and other skin eruptions. It calms inflamed skin areas and is safe to use on dogs. Chamomile is used extensively in Europe for the skin and hair. (Flower) LAVENDER (Lavendula augustifolium) Lavender is highly effective at soothing and healing irritated skin. It is known as the universal oil because of its many uses. Lavender is an antiseptic. (Flower) PATCHOULI (Pogostemon patchouli) Patchouli has nourishing and rejuvenating properties for the skin. (Herb) BASIL (Ocimum basilicum) The holy herb in Indian Ayurvedic medicine. Basil is healing and revitalizing. (Herb) ORANGE, GRAPEFRUIT, LEMON & LIME OILS These oils are derived from the peels of these citrus fruits. These peels contain d-limonene, which is lethal to fleas but safe for dogs. (The peel) SANDALWOOD (Santalum album) This ancient oil is moisturizing to skin that balances the astringent qualities in the citrus oils. (The tree) TEA TREE (Melaleuca alternifolia) Tea Tree oil is antibacterial, antiviral, and antiseptic, which means that it can kill bacteria that can cause staph infections and kills fungi that grow on certain dog s skin types (such as Shar Peis, Pugs, & Bulldogs). It can sooth insect bites and some other skin irritations. A little tea tree goes a long way. Like every other essential oil, with the exception of lavender, do not apply tea tree directly to skin. In its concentrated form, and without being in a carrier oil base, this oil can burn the skin. (The tree leaf) CEDARWOOD This oil cleanses the skin. Aromatherapy Herbal Therapy for Pets

8 1. This Match must be sanctioned by AKC and held in a suitable place approved by the Board. 2. Puppies must be at least three (3) months old to qualify for entry (AKC Rule). 3. Owners of dogs DO NOT have to be members. 4. Dogs CAN NOT be shown with major points. 5. Professional Handlers can only show their OWN dogs. 6. Sanction Match Chairman MAY show own dogs at this Match. 7. The Sanction Judge* will be selected according to rules listed in the Standing Rules. 8. Club Secretary must submit paper work to AKC according to AKC guidelines. 9. Sanction Match entries shall be judged as follows: a. Males and females being judged separately according to age and classification division (bred-by or open). b. First place in each division according to sex will compete for best in that division. The Judge selects Best Open and Best Bred-by male & female. c. For the final class, the four division winners compete for Best In Match and Best Opposite Sex. 10. Cost of Club Trophy for Best In Match will not exceed fifty ($50) dollars. 11. MARGARET BROWNELL PERPETUAL TROPHY accepted at the Board meeting October 26, 1974 for Best Puppy. Trophy shall NOT be retired. 12. Sanction Match Chairman will give a complete financial report to the Club treasurer with the money, if any. 13. A complete report must be given to the Club Secretary and it is to be attached to the Club Minutes. 14. CODE OF ETHICS Members of the PCBC have an obligation to protect the welfare and the best interest of their breed by conducting themselves in a manner as to reflect credit to themselves, their breed and the PCBC. Members who exhibit are expected to observe the highest standards of sportsmanship; conduct themselves in such a manner as to reflect positively on the sport of showing dogs; and exhibit good will at all shows and obedience trials. Members who contemplate breeding a litter, or who allow use of their stud dog for the same purpose, shall direct their efforts toward producing dogs of quality, of even temperament, vigorous and free of health problems. They shall be familiar with the Bulldog breed and its PCBC/BCA/AKC approved standard, and breed only those specimens which conform to it. Members shall not engage in false or misleading advertising or misrepresentation of their breed, nor shall they malign their competition by making false or misleading statements regarding their competitors dogs, breeding practices, or person. BLATANT DISREGARD FOR THE STANDARDS SET OUT IN THIS CODE SHALL BE CONSIDERED UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR AND NOT SUPPORTED BY THE PACIFIC COAST BULLDOG CLUB.
