MARK YOUR CALENDARS, The PCBC Specialty Weekend is just around the corner, April This year s theme is CABANA BULLIES. Come and enjoy a fun filled weekend. 2.) As part of this year s scheduled events; A Poolside Welcoming Appetizer party on Thursday evening, BCA DivII will be Hosting their Sweeps & Specialty on Friday followed up with a Bar-B-Que, PCBC s Sweeps & Specialty on Saturday with a Fiesta Banquet in the evening, and a Sanction B Match & PCBC s Specialty on Sunday. Details will be forth coming. 3.) A Health Clinic will be held on the Saturday of the Specialty weekend, sponsored by PCBC. Dr Butchko will be in attendance. Cardiac and Knee Patella Screening will be performed. The clinic will be open from 10am to 3pm for a fee of $20/dog. All dogs are welcome, not just ones entered in the show, must be 12 months of age. This will be handled on a first come first serve basis. All dogs screened will receive a CHIC certification. 4.) Donations for the Goodie Bags are being sought. Please contact Kelly White. A Trophy Pledge sheet is also included in this issue. 5.) The month of March will see a White Elephant Sale at our monthly meeting and a Fun Match on the 21 st. Details will be published in the next issue. 6.) This year we will be having two (2) Club meetings at a show site. The first is in May and will be held at the Rio Hondo All Breed Show. The second will be in September at the Santa Ana All Breed Show. They will be held at a TBD location of the Show sites, with dates & times to follow in a future edition. 7.) Last year the BCA Div III Rescue experienced a large number of attained dogs. Hopefully with ongoing education, responsible breeders, and your support, these numbers will not continue to grow. 8 This about says it all... Just a Dog From time to time, people tell me, lighten up, it s just a dog, or, that s a lot of money for just a dog. They don t understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs involved for just a dog. Some of my proudest moments have come about with just a dog. Many hours have passed and my only company was just a dog,d but I did not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by just a dog, and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of just a dog gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day. If you, too, think it s just a dog, then you will probably understand phases like just a friend, just a sunrise, or just a promise. Just a dog brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. Just a dog brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person. Because of just a dog I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future. So for me and folks like me, it s not just a dog but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment. Just a dog brings out what s good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day. I hope that someday they can understand that it s not just a dog but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being just a human.
