CLASSIFICATION ~ PUPPY SWEEPSTAKES CLASSES The following age division classes are offered for both Dogs and Bitches: 6 months and under 9 months; 9 months and under 12 months; 12 months and under 18 months VETERAN SWEEPSTAKES ELIGIBILITY: The Veteran Sweepstakes is open to all Ibizan Hounds, who, on the day of the show, will be at least 7 years of age or older. Dogs entered in Veteran Sweepstakes NEED NOT be entered in any other regular classes at this show. Entry fee is $ Write VETERAN SWEEPSTAKES in the Additional Class space and state the AGE DIVISION. CLASSIFICATION ~ VETERAN SWEEPSTAKES CLASSES The following age division classes are offered for both Dogs and Bitches: 7 years and under 10 years; 10 years and under 13 years; 13 years and older DIVISION OF SWEEPSTAKES STAKES ~ PUPPY & VETERAN 35% of the fees are retained by SCIHC to help defray the expenses of these classes. The remainder is divided as follows: First Place ~ 40%; Second Place ~ 30%; Third Place ~ 20%; and Fourth Place ~ 10%. All prize money is paid in the ring to the person handling the dog. Undistributed prize money due to absentees is retained by the Club. Rosettes Awarded for Best in Sweepstakes and Best of Opposite Sex to Best in Sweepstakes 5

6 BEST OF BREED COMPETITION The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed competition: Dogs that are Champions of Record. Dogs which according to their owners records have completed the requirements for a championship but whose championships are unconfirmed. The entry and showing of dogs whose championships are unconfirmed is limited to a period of 90 days from the dat e of the show where a dog completed the requirements for a championship according to the owner s records. If, at the end of th e 90 day period, the championship of a dog has not been confirmed by AKC, no further entries of the dog for Best of Breed competition are to be made until its championship has been confirmed by AKC. GRAND CHAMPION SELECT When quality warrants, after Best of Breed and Best of Opposite Sex are awarded, a Select Dog (SD) and Select Bitch (SB) may be chosen from the remaining Champions (Non Regular Class winners that are Champions and Qualify for BOB are eligible) - (WD or WB are not eligible) (AKC Dog Show Rules, Chapter 3, Section 14, Effective ) AWARDS OF MERIT The Southern California Ibizan Hound Clubs allows up to two awards (a Rosette) to be presented in addition to Best of Breed and Best of Opposite Sex in recognition of an exceptional Ibizan Hound that was under consideration for Best of Breed or Best of Opposite Sex. The judge may at his/her discretion, award all or none of the rosettes. AMATEUR OWNER HANDLER CLASS ELIGIBILITY For non-champion dogs at least 6 months of age. Dogs must be handled in the class by the registered owner of the dog. Entry is limited to exhibitors who have never been a professional handler, an AKC-approved conformation judge, or employed as an assistant to a professional handler. Additionally, members of the immediate family or household of a current professional handler are ineligible for this class (as defined in Chapter 11, Section 13 of the AKC Dog Show Rules). Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs to a professional handlers organization, distributes rate cards, or otherwise advertise or represent themselves as handling dogs for pay. BRED BY EXHIBITOR CLASS ELIGIBILITY All dogs entered in the Bred-By Exhibitor Class must be individually registered with the AKC. The person handling the dog must be a breeder of record of the dog and an owner of record of the dog. Family members must be both a breeder and owner of record to exhibit in the class. NON-REGULAR CLASSES INVOLVING SINGLE DOG ENTRIES NOTE: Winners from these classes are eligible, if undefeated in another class for Best of Breed Competition. VETERAN CLASS *Veteran Dog Class *Veteran Bitch Class A class for dogs and a class for bitches that are 7 years of age or older. *Chapter 11, Section 8: of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows provides that a neutered male may be entered as a Veteran Dog in the Veteran Dog Class and a spayed bitch may be entered as a Veteran Bitch in the Veteran Bitch Class. LURE COURSING CLASS Lure Coursing Dog Class Lure Coursing Bitch Class Dogs & Bitches must have a field championship in AKC of ASFA and be at least 1 year old. The Winner of the lure coursing class is eligible to compete in Best of Breed Competition, therefore they may not have any breed disqualifications because WINNERS of the above classes will compete for Best of Breed. All entrants MUST also meet ALL American Kennel Club requirements for Non- Regular Classes involving single dog entries. NATIONAL OWNER HANDLED SERIES A Rosette for Best Owner-Handler will be presented. The AKC Nation al Owner -Handled S eries will be conducted following Best of Breed judging. All dogs in the BOB competition (including WD & WB) will stay in the ring after the judge makes their placements in BOB competition. The ring steward will ask all professional hand lers, household members and current assistants to professional han dler to leave the ring an d the n the judge will then select the Best Owner -Handled (BOH). The do g an d its owner will continue to accrue points for any group placements or Bests in Show. The top-ranked do gs from the AKC National Owner -Handled Series are post ed on t he AKC Nation al Owner -Handled Series Points Ranking page. Rankings of th e do gs competing in the Series are compiled based on t he Best of Breed, Group, and Best in Show placements in this specific Series competition (See Point Schedule). The en d of year competition for the AKC National Owner -Handled Series will be held in conjunction with the AKC/Eukanuba show in December. D ogs th at finished ranked in the top t en (plus ties) for their breed du ring the qualifying period will be invited to compete in the competition. Dogs exhibited by professional han dlers on the d ay of the event a re not eligible for this competition. Dogs exhibited by current assistants and househ old members of a professional handler on the day of th e event are not eligible to enter this competition. Professional handler s are d efined as any person w ho b elongs or has b elonge d to a prof essional handlers' organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented th emselves as handling do gs for pay within the last five years. 8 RESERVED GROOMING SPACE Reserve your space ONLINE now RESERVED GROOMING TENTS: Reserved grooming space is available for $50.00 per space through WheresMySpace.com. All reserved grooming Spaces are approximately 10 x 10 feet. Reserved grooming spaces will be reserved from Wednesday after 2pm thru Sunday; however, your space will be reserved for your arrival on any day of the cluster. All reserved grooming spaces will be under the provided grooming tents. No electricity will be provided. Exhibitors and/or handlers are responsible to provide their own generators. The Kennel Club of Palm Springs, Circuit clubs, club members or service providers assume no responsibility for damage/theft of items or injury to dogs at the show. X-pens placed in your space under the tent must have plastic sheeting come up approximately 18 on the backs and sides of exercise pens. X-pens placed adjacent to the grooming tents MUST not block aisle or access to grooming spaces. Remember to keep your space clean. The grooming tents will be checked each night for cleanliness. The Cluster Committee reserves the right to make all decisions concerning assignment of the reserved grooming spaces. VIOLATERS TO THE ABOVE POLICIES ARE SUBJECT TO DISCIPLINARY ACTION UP TO AND INCLUDING A BENCH SHOW HEARING. Every effort will be made to optimize the placement of your space. Exhibitors should have no expectation of being adjacent to any specific exhibitor or ring. One check and form per space or person. Mailed in reservations should note the tent location preferences. If your desired tent is sold out, the next closest tent will be used. The Show Committee reserves the right to consolidate spaces or move exhibitors items to accommodate other exhibitors. USE OF DRYERS, ELECTRICAL HOOKUP, SCISSORING, BATHING OF DOGS OR OVERNIGHT SETUP IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED IN THE DAY CRATING AREAS OF THE MAIN SHOW TENTS. AISLES MUST BE KEPT CLEAR. The Show Committee will designate holding areas near the rings for exhibitors to put crates and tables and Dollies while they are showing. Only approved reserved grooming and non-reserved space may be used for grooming. NON RESERVED GROOMING AREA: Although grooming reservations are recommended, the Kennel Club of Palm Springs has free grooming areas, without power in the grass areas. Non Reserved Grooming areas will be marked. There is NO FREE GROOMING AREAS UNDER THE GROOMING TENTS. Please bring your own shade. Spaces might be limited - arrive early. The Show Committee reserves the right to consolidate spaces to accommodate exhibitors. 9 OVERNIGHT PARKING INFORMATION Area Lot 2 is no longer available. There are two overnight parking areas: one is adjacent to the show area and one is some distance away. Most of the parking is on decomposed granite. Spaces assigned in order received. No dumping of gray water or sewage is allowed. There will be a $25.00 charge for any returned checks Please note the following parking requirements/restrictions: 1. Those wishing to park together must arrive together. 2. Space changing will not be permitted. All vehicles must park as directed by parking personnel. 3. Confirmation of your reservation will be sent if you enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope. 4. All personal generators must be turned off between 11 pm and 6 am daily. 5. All tag vehicles will be required to purchase a tag vehicle pass ($20.00 for the weekend). 6. Tag vehicles must fit into assigned space (not in aisle), or be moved to day-of-show parking area. 7. Any motor home over 40 long must have two spaces. 8. Any truck & trailer over 40 must have two spaces, or unhook; note on form. 9. All parking spaces are 22 wide by 35 long; over 35 will be parked in designated rows. 10. No foul or abusive language will be tolerated; anyone not following parking rules will be asked to leave, and no refunds will be given. No parking refunds will be made after close of entries. All parking reservations must be received by December 21, Reservations received after that date will cost an additional $10.00 per night. The cost is $55.00 (for 30 amps) per night 3-night minimum (or $ for two 30-amps.) Requests for power not made in advance, will be $10.00 more (cash), per night. 10 NOTICE TO EXHIBITORS 1. Entries must reach the Show Secretary, Doris Bandoian, 1220 N. Richfield Rd., Anaheim, CA , by 12:00 PM, NOON, Wednesday, December 21, Fees should accompany entries. The Club and the Show Secretary assume no responsibility for wrong or incomplete information given on the entry blank by the owner or agent of the owner. The Club and the Show Secretary assume no responsibility for the owner or owner s agent entering a dog in a class in which the dog is not eligible to compete, or for entering the same dog twice. 2. Returned checks do not constitute a valid entry fee. The CLUB will add a collection fee to the amount of each returned check. Subsequent returned checks for the same exhibitors may result in their being put on a CASH ONLY basis. The returned check MUST BE MADE GOOD by cash or money order BEFORE the dog will be allowed in the ring. 3. Exhibitors confirmations and judging programs will be mailed to the address given on the entry blank. If not received within a reasonable time prior to the show, notify the Show Secretary. Confirmations returned by the Post Office marked Undeliverable will be held at the Show Secretary s office. PLEASE BRING YOUR CONFIRMATIONS TO THE SHOW. 4. During the hours of judging owners are to be on call, and have their dogs ready to bring into the judging ring promptly in order that judging will not be delayed. Dogs need only be present for their judging. Dogs not needed for further judging may be excused. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to have his dog ready to be shown and at the entrance of the judging ring when the steward calls for the class. Owner of dogs or the handlers of the dogs alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging rings. This means it is not the responsibility of the ring steward, nor of any agent of the show-giving club to locate any dog, it s owner or handler, when the dog s presence is needed in a judging ring. It should be understood by every exhibitor and handler that waiting for dogs to be brought into the ring is a courtesy extended to the owner or handler of the dog. There is no rule of these clubs nor the American Kennel Club that requires a judge to wait for an owner or handler t o bring his dog into the ring. Show hours 6 AM to 8 PM. 5. Trophies and prizes will be awarded in the judging ring by completion of the breed and the show secretaries office advised at once, in the event of any discrepancy. All trophies must be claimed the day of the show. None will be mailed. 6. Exhibitors are admonished to make themselves familiar with the agreement of the American Kennel Club, referred to on the reverse side of the entry blanks that accompany the premium list. Rule books may be obtained from the A.K.C., 5580 Centerview Dr., Suite 200, Raleigh, N.C The Club, the Show Secretary or the members or employees will not be responsible for the loss of or damage to any dog exhibited, whether the result of accident or other causes and in addition assumes no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by an exhibitor/owner or handler. It is distinctly understood that every dog at this show is in the care and custody and control of his owner or handler/agent during the entire time the dog is on the show premises. 8. No grooming tables, pens or exhibitors setups will be allowed in the aisles and all grooming must be done at least 20 ft. away from the judging ring in areas specified by the club. 9. Entry fees shall NOT be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, sick, lame, excused by veterinarian or judge, barred from competition by action of the Event Committee, or because the dog is ineligible to compete due to being entered incorrectly. There is no refund of entry fees for duplicate entry. 10. Only dogs that are eligible to compete to be allowed on the grounds. 11. The Southern California Ibizan Hound Club, may decline any entries for cause and may refuse to receive or may remove any dog on account of disease, viciousness or other causes, and no one shall have any claim or recourse against the Club or any official thereof. 12. If, because of riots, civil disturbances or other acts beyond the control of the management, it is impossible to open or complete the show, no refund of entry will be made. 13. Do not leave any dogs in closed vehicles. 14. A recording fee of 50 cents per dog and an event service fee of $3.00 per entry will be required for each dog entered at any Licensed or Member Club Show. These fees are to be collected by the Show-giving Club and paid to the American Kennel Club. (American Kennel Club Rule, Chapter 11, Section 2.) 15. Dogs which according to their owners records have completed the requirements for a championship after the closing of entries for the show but whose championships are unconfirmed, may be transferred from one of the regular classes to the Best of Breed Competition, provided this transfer is made by the Show Secretary at least one half hour prior to the start of the earliest Confirmation judging at the show. 16. All persons attending this event hereby waive any claim for damages against the Club, or its, members, in the event a motor vehicle has to be entered to rescue a dog from overheating or improperly vented conditions. 17. All vehicles parked in VIP Parking Area without VIP Pass will be ticketed and fined. 18. Parents and/or Guardians are responsible for the actions of their children. THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA IBIZAN HOUND CLUB, ITS EVENT SECRETARY, THEIR AGENTS, EMPLOYEES, ETC., WILL USE DUE CARE AND DILIGENCE FOR THE WELFARE OF DOGS AND EXHIBITORS, BUT WILL ASSUME NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY LOSS, DAMAGE OR INJURY SUSTAINED BY EXHIBITORS, HANDLERS, OR TO ANY OF THEIR DOGS OR PROPERTY PARTICIPATING IN THESE SHOWS, AND FURTHER ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR INJURY TO CHILDREN AT THIS SHOW. 11 DAY OF SHOW PARKING INFORMATION Note: There are unloading areas at each end of the show grounds. Valet parking will be available, beginning on Friday, at a charge of $20.00 per day per vehicle. Some parking areas may be some distance from your ring(s). An unloading area will be provided. Please follow the instructions of parking attendants. Day-of-Show parking will be $10.00 per space. Vehicles requiring more than one space (motor homes, etc.) will be parked in the day-of-show overflow parking lot and will be charged $10.00 per space used. No overnight parking will be allowed in the day of show parking lots. Anyone not following KCPS rules risks having his/her vehicle towed at owners expense. No abusive behavior will be tolerated. KCPS and Empire Polo Club assume no responsibility for fire, theft or damage to vehicles or cargo, whether legally or illegally parked. Overnight parking is not permitted on the streets in Indio. Valet parking will be available. Towing Policy - Cars parked in the unloading zone will be towed without any public announcement. The towing fee will be $200.00, plus the $10 day-of-show parking fee. MOTELS The following are among the motels and hotels in the Indio area that accept dogs. (Some may charge a Security Deposit). PLEASE do not allow your dogs to create a nuisance! We want to maintain the good reputation of the Kennel Club of Palm Springs. Accommodations for exhibitors are becoming increasingly difficult to find everywhere, because of the carelessness of some dog people.
