2 An Accident One sunny afternoon, Ryan and his mother were planning a birthday celebration for Ryan s father. Mrs Tan, Ryan s mother thought of an idea. Why don t we buy a birthday cake and some sweets? Mrs Tan asked. Ryan nodded his head so they went to buy the cake and sweets. After buying, Mrs Tan put the jar of assorted sweets in the kitchen cabinet as she did not want her husband to see it. Can I have some sweets, mother? Ryan asked. No, if not you will have a sweet tooth, too much sweets are bad for your teeth. Mrs Tan said. Ryan was sad. He sat on the sofa thinking about the sweets, after a while, he thought of a plan to reach the cabinet. When his mother went to the toilet, he went to get a chair and a pile of newspaper. First, he pushed the chair near to the cabinet and placed the pile of newspaper on top, then he climbed onto the newspaper and reach out for the sweets. Smiling happily to himself, he took the jar of sweets out of the cabinet. He was as happy as a lark. Just as he was about to jump down, he lost his balance and tumbled to the floor. Ahh! Ryan screamed as he fell to the ground. His mother heard his screamed and rushed into the kitchen, and saw Ryan lying on the ground. Luckily, he was not hurt. Ryan was like a cat on hot bricks when he saw his mother. Finally, he stood up, look at what you have done! scolded Mrs Tan angrily. She asked Ryan to clean up the mess he had made. After some time, he finished cleaning up the scattered glass. He went to say sorry to his mother and she forgave him. Ryan learned that he should always listen to his mother. 3 Myself My name is Sharlynn. My class is and my school is Endeavour Primary School. I like eating cup noodles because it is tasty. My favourite colour is red, black, blue and yellow, I like these colours because they look beautiful. My favourite animals are panda, lion, tiger, bees and owl. My hobbies are dancing and singing. I have many friends. Their names are Izzah, Nitto, Zulfikar and Alisha. They all are my best friends. My favourite place in my school is the eco- garden and the library. 4 Helpful Man One sunny day, Mr Tan and his sister were going for a jog at the garden. Suddenly, Mr Tan heard someone shouting for help. Mr Tan immediately ran towards the mother and told him that his son was struggling in the pond. 5 A Fire Last Monday, Javier very bored. He went to the kitchen to see if there was anything to do. He remembered his father throwing the matchsticks into the bin. He picked the matchsticks from the bin and started to light the matchsticks.his parents were in their room sleeping. He lighted the candles and threw them into the bin.the paper inside the bin started burning. Jaiver saw thick smoke coming out from the bin. After a while, the fire became bigger. 6 Library I like the school library because I get to borrow Sherlock Homes books. I also get to collect Book Bug 2 cards because they are shiny. The Sherlock Homes books are interesting to read and the book look brand new. They are brand new because they just arrived from the library. The librarians scan the books when I borrow them. They will also scan the book when I return the books. I love going to the library. Wang Ming Hao

7 My Favourite food My favourite food is pizza because it is very yummy and nice to eat. I go to the Sun Plaza and buy the pizza there. I buy it from Pizza Hut. There are many types of pizza. 8 Lost Watch A bright and sunny morning with a fluffy white cloud in the air passing by. Mary s mother gave Mary a watch as a present The next day, Mary wore her watch to school to show off to her friends in the school. During recess, Mary s friend realised that Mary s watch was missing. 10 Library One fine Sunday Jacob, Ming Hao and Jovonn were having lessons, Ring! Ring! Jovonn and Jaocb shouted, Recess! except Ming Hao. Everyone was talking about things. Ming Hao joined them too. 11 An Accident Last Sunday, Bob was lonely so he was playing with matchsticks and candle in the kitchen. He was bored and wanted to burn some newspaper in the bin. His parents were not at home. Suddenly, the bin was on fire and Bob was scared. The flame became bigger. There was nobody at home at that time to help him. Soon, the fire started to spread everywhere in the kitchen. He ran out of the house looking for help. Luckily, his neighbour called the fire engine. Finally, the fire engine came and managed to stop the fire on time. They sprayed water. Bob was relieved that the fire extinguished. He was felling sad and he apologised to his parents. His parents grounded him for a week. Hugo Adam Desuert

12 A FIRE One sunny day, the sun shone brightly in the blue sky. Tom woke up, he smelt smoke. He looked out of the window and saw smoke at his neighbourhood. Tom ran out of the room and told his father that the neighbour s houses was on fire. Tom called the fire department. Soon, there was a crowd of people under the flat. The firemen came. 14 A Greedy Boy One beautiful night, Tom was eating potato chips. His mother said, Tom don t eat too much. Tom said, Don t worry. He did not want to listen to his mummy. Tom was as stubborn as a mule. After that, Tom ate another type of snacks as he was so greedy. His brother looked at him and quickly, he told his mother that Tom ate too much. She said, Tom do not eat too much. But Tom did not listen to his mother. Suddenly, Tom s tummy hurts and he cried and said, Ouch!. After he had said that, his tummy hurts badly. He vomited. Tom s mother was shocked and saw what happened. She immediately brought him to the hospital. Three days later, Tom s family visited him in the morning. He woke up and saw his family. He was so happy to see his family but he was still in pain. The doctor said he ate too much junk food and he was as sick as a dog. Today, Tom learnt to listen to his love ones. Loh Zi En, Dawn

15 A Lost Puppy One sunny afternoon, when Jane was walking home from school, she saw a cute puppy. The cute puppy was very scared of her but she was not scared of the cute puppy. She did not know why did the puppy came out to the garden without its owner. The cute puppy looked very frightened to see Jane. After that, the puppy went nearer to Jane. She touched the cute puppy and it wagged its tail. The cute puppy loved Jane as it wagged its tail enthusiastically. Soon, Jane carried the puppy and thought about what she would do with the puppy. Maybe, she would sell it or would keep it. She decided to find the cute puppy s owner. So, she remembered in the lift near her house, had a poster of a dog. The dog looked exactly like this puppy. Then, she went back to look for the poster to help the puppy find its owner. Finally, Jane went to the owner s home with the cute puppy and she saw the puppy s owner. The owner gave Jane some money but she did not accept it. The owner was very happy to see the puppy again. The puppy was happy to see its owner as well and it kept licking her face. 16 A Lesson Learnt Last Sunday, my mother bought a jar of assorted sweets. As she put the sweets into the cabinet, she told me that I should not eat any sweets because I was sick. My mother walked away because she needed to rest. I took a chair and some newspapers. I placed the chair down and then I placed the stack of newspapers and started climbing them up on the chair. But then, I lost balance and fell. I flapped my arms wildly in vain to attempt to regain my balance but to no avail. I fell with a loud thud and I broke the jar of sweets. It shattered into pieces. My mother came in and saw the pieces of glass and I was beside it. She was angry and asked me clean up the mess. She grounded me for a week. I felt sorry for my action. Tay Yi Jing, Charlotte

17 A helpful boy Last Saturday morning when the sun was shining brightly, Ben decided to go jogging. After he had jogged for a while, he felt very thirsty. He realized that he forgotten to bring his water bottle. Then, he went to the nearby shop to buy some drinks. On the way home, he saw an old woman at a void deck. She looked very weak. She was not feeling well. Her face was as white as a sheet. Then ben approached the old woman and asked, Are you alright aunty? Before she could answer, suddenly she fainted and fell to the ground. Immediately, Ben shouted for help. Help! Help! But unfortunately, there were no sign of anybody around. Suddenly, he spotted a public telephone at a nearby bus stop. Soon in a blink of an eye, he arrived there and dialled 995 to get help. He told them that an old woman had fainted and needed help. Not long after, Ben could hear the wails of a siren from the ambulance coming towards them. Soon the paramedics came out from the ambulance and used a stretcher to carry the old woman. Next, shes sent to the hospital. Finally, the old woman regained consciousness. The doctors treated her. Her relatives were there and they praised Ben for his help. The old woman smiled and said, Thank you for saving my life. Ben said, It is my pleasure. He was pleased that he had done a good deed. Cayleen Chlovelle
