WINNERS BITCH NON-REGULAR CLASSES, Both Varieties *Veteran Dogs... *Veteran Bitches (For Collies 7 years and older) *Chapter 11, Section 8 of the Dog Show Rules provides that Neutered dogs and spayed bitches would be allowed to compete in the Veterans classes only at independent specialties and/or those all-breed shows which do not offer any competitive classes beyond Best of Breed. BEST VARIETY COMPETITION Best of Variety/Best of Breed Competition - The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Variety or Best of Breed Competition: Dogs that are Champions of Record; dogs which according to their owner s records have completed the requirements for a championship but whose championships are unconfirmed. The showing of dogs whose championships are unconfirmed is limited to a period of 90 days from the day of the show where a dog completed the requirements for a championship according to the owner s records. BEST BREED COMPETITION Best in Puppy Classes - The First place puppy of each of the four Rough Puppy Classes (6-9 & 9-12 only) and the four Smooth Puppy Classes (6-9 & 9-12 only) are eligible to compete for this award. For the American Kennel Club definition of Puppy, Bred By Exhibitor, American Bred and Open classes, see Chapter 3, Rules Applying to Dog Shows. -2-

2 Junior Showmanship - Saturday & Sunday only Please Note: ALL JUNIOR HANDLERS ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE AN AKC JR. NUMBER. Contact AKC, Show Records (919) for a Junior Handler number. Be sure to include all information required on both the front and back of the Official AKC Entry Form. Novice Junior Class: For Boys and Girls who are at least 9 years old and under 12 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three First Place awards with competition present in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. Novice Intermediate Class: For Boys and Girls who are at least 12 years old and under 15 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three First Place awards with competition present in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. Novice Senior Class: For Boys and Girls who are at least 15 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three First Place awards with competition present in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. Open Junior Class: For Boys and Girls who are at least 9 years old and under 12 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three First Place awards with competition present in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. Open Intermediate Class: For Boys and Girls who are at least 12 years old and under 15 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three First Place awards with competition present in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. Open Senior Class: For Boys and Girls who are at least 15 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three First Place awards with competition present in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. he winner of the Novice Class shall automatically become eligible, upon notice to the Open Class ring steward, to enter and compete in the Open Class at the same show provided the win is the third (3rd) first place award with competition and further providing there are one or more Junior Handlers competing in the Open Class. Each dog handled in a regular Junior Showmanship Class must be entered in one of the breed classes at this show or entered for Junior Showmanship only. However, a dog that must be withdrawn for good and sufficient reason, such as a bitch in season, or a veterinarian s excuse, may be replaced by another dog meeting the below ownership requirements. Such substitution must be required in writing stating the reason for the substitution and must be accompanied by an Official AKC Form. All such requests must be made at least a half hour prior to the judging of any regular class at the show. Each dog must be owned by the Junior Handler or the Junior Handler s father, mother, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, grandfather, or grandmother, including the corresponding step and half relations. Every dog entered for Junior Showmanship must be eligible to compete in Dog Shows or Obedience Trials. BITCHES IN SEASON ARE NOT ELIGIBLE. At a specialty Show, each dog must be of the breed for which the show is held. A dog that has been excused or disqualified by a breed judge or by a Bench Show Committee may still be handled in Junior Showmanship if eligible to compete in Obedience Trials. A dog that has been rejected, dismissed or excused under the Dog Show Rules for the protection of the other dogs at the show or for the protection of the dog excused may not be handled in Junior Showmanship. Catalog Advertising Advertising deadline is Friday, February 26, Ads do not need to be camera ready, however, the best quality photo should be used to insure a more attractive advertisement. Sweepstakes is open to all Collie puppies, Rough and Smooth, six months old up to eighteen months of age. The Sweepstakes is to be designated on the regular entry form by writing sweepstakes in the blank marked additional classes. The fee for entering the sweepstakes is $10.00 for each day entered and the puppy must also be entered and exhibited in one of the regular classes at the regular rate. CLASSES & DISTRIBUTION THE SWEEPSTAKES MONEY The clubs will retain 10% of the stake for expenses. PUPPY DOG, 6 months under 9 months... PUPPY BITCH, 6 months under 9 months PUPPY DOG, 9 months under 12 months... PUPPY BITCH, 9 months under 12 months DOG, 12 months under 18 months... BITCH, 12 months under 18 months Competition for the finalist placements will start with the six class winners. As a finalist is chosen, the succeeding winning puppy from that puppy s class will be eligible to compete until the four finalist placements have been chosen. Thus the winners have defeated all the other puppies. The balance of the stake (after the club retains its 10%) will be divided for the Finalist Class as follows: 1st Finalist - 40%, 2nd Finalist - 30%, 3rd Finalist - 20%, 4th Finalist - 10% FRIDAY -- CCC Only If fewer than ten puppies are entered in the Sweepstakes for this show only, males and females six months and under eighteen months will be shown in two classes, one class for all dogs entered and one class for all bitches entered. The two class winners will then compete for 1st finalist. As 1st finalist is chosen, the succeeding winning puppy from that puppy s class will be eligible to compete until the four finalist placements have been chosen. Thus the winners have defeated all the other puppies. Please do not walk your dogs on the motel lawns (except in the show area) unless you are a guest at the Ramada. And, of course, be sure to pick up after your dogs. New Exhibitor Briefing at 9:00 am ~ Dog Show Tour at 11:00 am Notice to Exhibitors Use one entry per dog for all three days unless there is a class change one of the days. Remember to check the appropriate boxes. Should such acknowledgment not be received by an exhibitor within seven days before the show, please contact the show secretary SHOW REGULATIONS Exhibitors must obey (abide by) all regulations or requirements of the management of the facility owning the show site. Telegraph, Telephone and Unsigned Entries Cannot Be Accepted. Entries Not On Official AKC Entry Forms and Photocopies Of Entry Forms without the Agreement and Rules on the reverse side of the Official AKC Entry Form are NOT ACCEPTABLE. No Entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies any conditions as to its acceptance. Changes, additions or corrections to entry forms must be received in writing or by facsimile prior to close of entries. Changes which are received on the telephone are unacceptable. Declination of Entries. The Show will be Open from 8:00 AM until 6:00 PM. Consult Judging Program for time of judging. Dogs May Arrive any time prior to their scheduled time of judging. Dogs not required for further judging will be excused. Judges are not required to wait for dogs. They will adhere as closely as possible to the Judging Schedule. The owner or handler of each dog is solely responsible for having it ready at ringside when it is scheduled to be judged. The show-giving Club and the show secretary have no obligation or responsibility for providing service through a public address system or stewards or runners for the purpose of calling or locating dogs that are not brought into the ring when required. The Show Giving Club, The Show Secretary, their agents or employees assume no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors, handlers, spectators or to any of their dogs or property, and further assumes no responsibility for injury to any child not under the control of their parents or guardians. No Dogs will be allowed in the Show Area except those regularly entered in the show. There will be NO SPACE for unentered dogs at this show.
