Almos lke a fay-ale nevew wh Flp Bollen 1. IFTCH Saceek Zally Compeng on Feld Tals s ofen sad o be a mae of luck. Saceek Zally un n he feld al season 2004/ Feld Tals, and she won 6 ou of hese 7, geng as many CACT and CACIT les whch ae nomally moe han enough fo a lfe-me n a lfe of a dog and hs owne. Zally also won a Feld Tal n ou couny, Hungay, she go a CACT / CACIT and also won he Fnal of he Indvdual Challenge Cup. Do you beleve s jus a mae of luck? No, s no only a mae of luck. I have neve seen a bad dog wnnng a al by havng a lo of luck. You need some luck wh he eeves you ge ove he day n a way of Geng he gh eeves on he gh momen When you dve wh a ca hough a ed affc lgh and nobody hs you, hen you ae lucky, bu when someone does, doesn mean you ae unlucky. You eceved wha you asked fo because you dd somehng wong. I s he same n alng. When he dog s no good you wll eceve wha you deseve and f no you mus be exemely lucky. The only momen you need luck s when he daw fo a al s done hopng you ge a un n. To wn feld als you need n he fs place a wel aned dog wh naual hunng ably s. If hee ae oo many sho comngs n he dog you can have as much luck as you wan, hose 1

fauls wll mos of he me appea dung he al whee he dog has o pefom well on 5 o 9 eeves. Nowadays hee ae so many good dogs ha makng one msake wll cos you vey ofen he 1s place. Good dogs always seem o have moe luck hen ohes, bu o me, mos of he me hey foce he own luck. Las yea I could have won 3 FT moe bu I suggled each me on my las eeve. To be nce, some people nend hen o say ha I was unlucky, bu o me, wce he handle was cab and once he dog le me down. Ths has nohng o do wh good o bad luck and maybe hee ae some handles who wll sa hnkng ha hey wee eally unlucky, bu no me Zally s a dog of you own beedng, comes fom he kennel Saceek. He fahe s he vey well known IFTCH Saxhope Buzzad of Bndlebay (Hebe), he mohe s FTCH Kelland Holly. Fom whch of he paens dd she hede moe I mean o whch of he paens s he chaace smla o? I do hnk Zaly has moe of he fahe sde bu I wouldn have mnd f she had looked moe lke he mohe. To us, boh of he paens ae good dogs, bu Zally has a vey smla way of wokng, unnng, and have he same expesson as Hebe. IFTCH Saxhope Buzzad of Bndlebay- Hebe FTCH Kelland Holly Ngel Mann, he owne/handle of FTCH Lafayee Tolley once sad o me ha my bch emnded hm o Tolley n some way when wokng. A ha momen he ddn know ha Toley was Zaly s Gandfahe so I do hnk ha hs poofs she has moe of he dog sde as Toley s Hebe s fahe. Ngel Mann's dog FTCH Lafayee Tolley Do you have Zally wh you snce he puppy hood? (soy, Sef )How dd you choose he? No, Zaly came o me when she was abou egh o nne monhs old. I don emembe he exac age. Sefaan bed hs le n 2000 of whch I ddn keep a puppy. I aleady had wo young dogs o an a ha momen so I was plannng o have he nex yea a puppy agan. Lyda kep one puppy (Zunny) ou of hs le and Sefaan wo (Zuckey & Zally). Sefaan was plannng o sell one of he wo bches afe he had soed ou whch one was he bes. As Zuckey was hs favoue (good choose ) he was hnkng of selng Zaly bu as he ddn had 2

much me a ha momen he asked me fs f I could make he holdng he dummy whch she nended o sp ou a hs fee. So, afe I cued hs lle poblem I fel n love wh he and old Sefaan he wouldn ge he back. I am sll payng hm oday o en he, and snce he gave me Zally, he neve asked me agan o cue a lle poblem wh one of hs puppy, unfounaely Fuhe, choosng he bes pup ou of a le s beng lucky n he fs place. We defnely don beleve n puppy ess. I jus don ake he shy o ndependen puppy sng whole alone n he cone whle he ohes ae playng. If you ae he beede of a le youself you go a bee vew and dea abou he behavou of he pups because you wll see hem evey day ll hey leave he house, bu sl hen s a loey o choose he bes one. When I have o choose a puppy n anohe kennel, mos of he me s done n 10 mnues me. I have a look, how a enns ball, and dve home happly hnkng I ook he bes pup ou of he le. When sang o an afe havng hs chldhood I wll see f I dd, yes o no You ae a vey expeenced ane, havng aned many dogs successfully, havng had many Feld Tal Champons n you kennel. When dd you have a feelng ha Zally should be an exceponally good dog, ha she s gong o become such a bloody good dog I mean dd you have he feelng befoe he eal caee began ha you have a easue n you hand, o jus came? I loved he fom he fs momen I go he. All my ohe dogs I only lke hem. She was full of enegy and powe, yes somemes a lle b cazy. Tha s maybe he eason why weundesand each ohe ha well She s a bddable dog and was leanng so fas and vey easy o an. I neve old Sef I cued he lle poblem fo holdng he dummy n one day as he would have asked he back he nex day. When I ook he fo he fs me o a shoo fo pckng-up, beng vey caefully n sendng he, I saw she would become my bes dog eve. I sen he fo a bd n suga bees of whch I hough was dead. I ddn know he bd had moved some dsance so when she h he fall she ook some scen bu couldn make a lo of. She kep lookng fo he bd fo maybe 10 mnues whou askng one me; whee s he bloody hng? She was so nexpeenced n hs and hen fnally she pcked he bd. An olde and moe expeenced dog would have pcked hs bd much ease and qucke, bu he way she was yng o solve hs ou heself was a joy o wach. Afe she found I was a vey happy man and some fends and guns who saw he wokng wee also que mpessed lke myself. The same hunng season she won he fs novce FT a he age of 20 monhs and only needed 3 uns n Open Feld Tals o become a FT CH no beng 3 yeas old. In he same peod she also won a novce al n England makng he Zally and Flp he wnnng eam qualfed o un n Open Tals. I only know a few on he connen who ae qualfed o un n Open als n England and maybe one day you wll be he fs Hungaan. 3

Hopefuly, one day In whch way do you hnk s Zaly moe o dfeen han aveage dogs? I was exemely lucky o ge a dog lke Zally. In a way of speakng, she aleady had he FT-Tle when we nomaly sa ou ohe dogs n Feld Tals. She had somehng moe hen he ohe dogs I had ll hen. The dffeence s he dog hmself and hs s dffcul o descbe, bu by havng somehng moe she also eceved auomacaly moe aenon of me, as we al nend o an he bee dog moe lkely han he less bee ones. We do pu a lo of me n anng all ou dogs bu Zally was always ha one whch eceved he bgges pa of and hs s sll he case, ogehe wh he dogs unde 2 yeas old. Wha do you hnk s he sengh ha makes he wn evey me? Luckly I don wn evey me. I would be happy f I could wn evey yea one al wh a dog. Wnnng oo much wll make people hnk I know all he judges Some do so bu mos of hem ae no compeng wh dogs o ae nvolved n he wong spo. In an ohe wod we call jalouse. Zally won 13 als ou of he 26 we have un, ncludng hose n he UK, and she ganed a oal of 23 FT awads. All he feld als she has un ae buned n my mnd and of evey al I can emembe evey eeve she pcked o no pcked I don lke o show up abou he senghs. I pefe o le ohe people alk abou he, good o bad, bu I am a poud man abou he and I hnk I can say ha she s an al-ounde. She can be un n any al, walk-up o dven, n any cove and on any game. She wll face bambles, neles and wae whou any doub, and hs jus o please me. She s easy o handle, has a vey good memoy and makes less msakes hen myself. If we fal, mos of he me s my faulbu I sll feel a pvlege peson beng n he fs ow wachng he o hun. She has a specal syle and I mss he evey me f I ake anohe dog o shoo nsead of he. In he fuue I wll have o lean ha one day she wll be oo old fo allng and wll become vey dffcul fo me o do bee. I am well awae of hs and had wokng on a eplacng dog. Do you hnk f Zally has a weakness o would you say she s jus he pefec dog n evey way? Lke people, a pefec dog doesn exs. We al y o ge as close as possble o pefecon bu as we ae no pefec ouselves, he dog can be nehe. I s up o us o an he dogs o a good sandad and develop he naual ably s. In ha way we have a bg nfluence n geng he dog as close o pefecon. Some people can do hs bee hen ohes even f hey have he less bee dog.. Zaly also has weaknesses bu I don el hem. As long as I know hem I can wok on he yng o solve hem. I s up o he judges o see and fnd he weaknesses of a dog, no up o he handle o ell hem o eveybody, especally no o he judges If hey can fnd he fauls of a dog by dong hs n a way hey don wan o see he dog falng, hen we ae alkng abou good judgng. Unfounaely hs s no always he case because some people lke o see dogs falng. 4

Zally s now 6 yeas old. Do you plan o un he n he nex season o was he las season when you un he on Feld Tals? Nex season I wl un he agan n Feld Tals. If I look back o las hunng season I don see a eason o ee he. She sl caches my eyes and when anng she s unnng and wokng lke ou youngses. Fuhe I am no afad of losng o no feelng oo good o say o anohe handle hs dog was bee. In Feld Tals, one day you e up and he nex you e down agan. Relavang he good esuls you ganed one day makes ease o accep losng he nex day. If you don see you own, o he dog fauls you wan sand long n hs spo. People who ae always lookng fo excuses fo he own o dog msakes ae quckly fogoen. Nobody wll beleve hem anymoe afe a whle and hey wll be sandng whole alone one day. Zally and Flp compeng on he ICC Thee s only one place whch coun n a Feld Tal and hs s he fs place. Only one compeo can gan hs esul and all he ohes ae n one way o he ohe, he loses. I wl un Zaly as long as I feel we can compee fo he fs place and I hope she doesn wan o become smae han he handle by sang o do he own hng. Hebe was egh yeas old when Lyda eed hm so f she looks afe he fahe n hs as well, I can un he fo 3 moe seasons. Nex season I only would lke o be lucke n he daws of he open als n he UK. Afe I qualfed he o un n open Tals n 2002, I only had wo uns ou of 40 nomnaons. We ae membes of 12 gundog clubs n he UK bu s so dfcul o ge a un n a al wh 100 o 200 nomnaons fo each open al and hs only fo 12 places n a one-day and 24 n a wo-days. I s ease o ge a un n an al-age o a novce al bu sll hen you go much moe enes hen places. I am deamng of ganng a good esul n an open al n England, jus lke he fahe dd. Maybe afe ha I wl ee he, so le s hope. Eveybody who s nvolved n Feld Tals and eeves, knows you kennel vey well. Would you jus descbe how you selec he dogs fo you kennel, wha ae you pefeences? Eveybody has hs own dea abou he dogs he o she wans o an o un. Pesonally I lke dogs whch ae que sof bu sll wllng o wok afe hey eceved a fa hdng, peendng hey know wha hey have done wong. Lyda and Sef have he same dea abou ha. The dog has o sand some pessue as well bu we don wan hose who wl y you ou evey me. Tanng a dog should be fun and no a fgh each day. If so we wll fnd hem anohe home. Fuhe he dogs have o be fas, havng he hunng ably s and he wl o please. Those hngs you can an no dog, hey ae bon wh. Don hnk al ou he dogs ae good as we also have falues, even moe as we would lke bu mosly people wll no see hem The dog has o be anable and lean fas once hey had hee chldhood. When we sa wh memoy s and handlng, we wl aleady ge an dea whch dog wl un ou o be a good o bad one and hey have o cope wh he basc befoe hey ae 2 yeas old. The nex seps ae 5

bngng hem unde shoong condons and see how hey cope wh he eal hng. If hs all go wel hey can sleep n ou o Sef s kennels. Neve hnk you need many dogs o be successful. You jus need one good dog evey 4 o 5 yeas, bu mos of he mes you need many dogs o fnd ha good one How do you choose a se fo you bches? Do you have a pefeence fo a specal Englsh lne? In evey lne you wll fnd he same domnan Ses. Expeenced beedes old me ha he bch lne s he fs hey look a. Fndng a good se s much ease as you can choose ou of many FT.CH dogs. If we choose a se fo ou bches we also look fs o he pedgee bu moe o he dog self. We have o lke he dog and wan o know somehng abou hs chaace and hs you can ead on al knd of papes. Hebe s he ype of dog we lke, bu you can say kennel blnd so you need o look fo new blood else whee. Fuhe we wll always choose a dog whch has been unde shoong condons and no only wokng es. The bes pefome on wokng ess can be geaes pes on a feld al o shoong days. Reevng a dummy o wam Game unde shoong condons ae lke ngh and day, 2 oally dffeen hngs. So he dogs had o be unde shoong condons by pefeence a feld als, eal feld als well undesood, and no only he ones whee hey how pheasans ou of cages and shoo hem. I don wan o know whee he bd wl leave he gound and fal afe been sho befoe I ave n he lne. If so, we alk abou wam game ess and no a feld al. I know ha you ae plannng a le wh Zally. Have you decded aleady fo he se you ae gong o use? If yes, why dd you choose ha dog? I was plannng o have a le wh Zally hs yea. She s vey egula n comng n season and heefoe 's vey dffcul o plan such hngs wh he. If she would come n season now and we would le he have puppy's, I wll loose he fo a o long peod dung he shoong season. As hs peod s vey mpoan o us wll be no fo hs yea bu nex yea. Las yea I aleady had a ls of people who asked me fo a puppy of Zally bu I ddn' wan o le he mae because hey also asked me o be n he eam fo he Inenaonal n Shebone. One week befoe hs even " he bloody hng" came n season and I had o ake he dog whch I gave a my daughe o go o England. :-). Luckly eveybody can handle he and she sll emembeed me :- ), bu fo he same eason as now I ddn' le Zally maed a ha me beng aleady end of May. I also ealsed hen she could become he nex me n season aound he peod of he Coupe d'euope n Ausa. So I asked my ve o gve he an njecon no o become n season whch I sll ege. Besde of havng ganed such a wondeful esul n Ausa, I was gone n 5 mnues and joned he an's :-) uned ove he sysem compleely. So f all goes well nex spng I wll use Heke Klebe's dog Chaman of Dukefeld because we lke he dog. He's sll young, bu snce he s a puppy he aacs my aenon. Chaman of Dukefeld - Jack 6

Heke keeps me nfomed abou hm and as we have a blnd us n he ownes, I know he' s a good dog. He has been unde shoong condons and saw hs fahe and mohe wokng. He has he naual ably's we ae lookng fo and Heke loves hm lke I love Zally:-). Ths s somemes moe mpoan hen choosng he fs FTCH of he ecod. Bu I am no n a huy as we have enough suff o an a he momen and as we all have a full me job, 's somemes dffcul o ge hem aned popely f he ae oo many dogs. Fuhe we pefe o be called anes/handles nsead of beedes. We lke o say and do wha we hnk, and as beng a beede only, you have o wach you wods n alkng abou he good dogs of ohes people. You could be losng a poenal clen :-) A las queson. Pehaps you have many nce memoes wh Zally, she mus have had some gea eeves whle you wee alng ogehe n he las few yeas, I also saw some of hem myselves whch jus made my flesh ceep, would you shae he mos memoable wh me, a vey specal expeence you lke o emembe? I have a lo of good memoes wh Zally bu also some bad ones. I pefe o alk abou an expeence nsead of a eeve. I s no a sho soy so I hope you have some place on you web I un my fs feld al n I emembe I was vey nevous ha day and afe a whle my dog un n. The dog fel I was so nevous so I ed o ge my neves unde conol he nex me and woked que wel. Nowadays I am que elaxed when alng whou sayng I have no neves a al, so don msundesand me, you need some o wn als bu no n a way hey ake ove all he conol! In 2002 I eceved he schedules of he feld als n England and eneed some nomnaons fo a un n a novce al. Afe a whle I eceved he daw back of he Suffolk Gundog Club and saw I was ffh eseve fo he 3 als I eneed. I phoned Mke Tallamy, who became a good fend ove he yeas, and asked hm f I had a chance o compee n one of he 3 als Zally beng 5 h eseve. He answeed me defnely, bu can be n he one begn Ocobe, end Ocobe o he one n Januay, I don know, bu f eve you ge a un, be my gues and say a my place. Thee days befoe he fs al I eceved a cal of he club s seceay elng me I go a un n. I saed shakng and acceped he un. I odeed he boo cke, wen o he bank geng some pounds and phoned Mke n he evenng o el hm I had a un. Oh you lucky boy bu s been so wam and dy laely ha hee s no scen a all. The gound s lke concee. Make sue you have all he necessay documens and o be sue, phone o he kennel club and ask f you go eveyhng. So I dd he nex day, Thusday he 3 d of Ocobe. I wen o wok and phoned fom hee o he Feld Tal seceay of he Kennel Club, Ms Anne Geeves, and asked he f I had he necessay documens. I hough eveyhng was ok and made hs phone call only o please Mke. Do you have an ATC-numbe? No, you need an ATC- numbe f you wan o compee n England wh a dog no egsaed n he UK. I cos you 12 pounds and you wll ge by pos n 2 weeks. In 2 weeks bu I have o compee on Sauday he 5 h... 7
