1 AKC CODE OF SPORTSMANSHIP PREFACE The sport of purebred dog competitive events dates prior to 1884, the year of AKC s birth. Shared values of those involved in the sport include principles of sportsmanship. They are practiced in all sectors of our sport: conformation, performance and companion. Many believe that these principles of sportsmanship are the prime reason why our sport has thrived for over one hundred years. With the belief that it is useful to periodically articulate the fundamentals of our sport, this code is presented. CODE OF SPORTSMANSHIP Sportsmen respect the history, traditions and integrity of the sport of purebred dogs. Sportsmen commit themselves to values of fair play, honesty, courtesy, and vigorous competition, as well as winning and losing with grace. Sportsmen refuse to compromise their commitment and obligation to the sport of purebred dogs by injecting personal advantage or consideration into their decisions or behavior. The sportsman judge judges only on the merits of the dogs and considers no other factors. The sportsman judge or exhibitor accepts constructive criticism. The sportsman exhibitor declines to enter or exhibit under a judge where it might reasonably appear that the judge s placements could be based on something other than the merits of the dogs. The sportsman exhibitor refuses to compromise the impartiality of a judge. The sportsman respects the AKC bylaws, rules, regulations and policies governing the sport of purebred dogs. Sportsmen find that vigorous competition and civility are not inconsistent and are able to appreciate the merit of their competition and the effort of competitors. Sportsmen welcome, encourage and support newcomers to the sport. Sportsmen will deal fairly with all those who trade with them. ENTERING THIS TRIAL INDICATES YOUR AGREEMENT TO ABIDE BY THIS CODE. 3 COURSES & BIRDS - There will be a single course without bird field; all stakes are single course walking stakes. BITCHES IN SEASON - Bitches in season may compete in Open Puppy and Open Derby only. For all other stakes refund of entry fees will be provided for bitches coming into season after the closing date. REFUNDS - A full refund will be given for entries cancelled with the Event Secretary prior to the Closing Date and Time. BIRDS - Native and liberated quail will be used in all stakes. RETRIEVING STAKES - Retrieving for OGD-R and ALGD-R will be by call-back. BLANK PISTOLS - Only blank pistols (starter pistols) may be used. Starter pistols will NOT be fired in the Puppy Stakes. All calibers up to 0.32 will be accepted. TRACKING COLLARS - All AKC approved tracking collars are permitted. See AKC website for current list: Note that per AKC rules If the handler elects to use a tracking collar, it shall remain on the dog during the entire time the dog is under judgment. If the handler removes the tracking collar, the dog shall be considered out of judgment. Only one of the two collars may be a tracking collar. Horseback handling is NOT permitted in any stake. PRIZES - Standard A.K.C. rosettes to all dogs receiving placements. A special rosette will be awarded to any dogs finishing a field title at the event. COGGINS - Horse owners need to present a current negative Coggins. DOGS - Dogs must be current on vaccinations and in good health. EQUINE MOVEMENT REQUIREMENTS - Horses coming in from out of State are required to have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection in addition to their Coggins certificate. On the occasion that an unexpectedly large or small entry occurs which can be more efficiently accommodated by a different format than the one stated in the premium, the flexible format option allows a club to rearrange the running order of the stakes and add / rearrange judges.

5 HUNTING DOG STAKE The Hunting Dog Stake is a non-regular field event that is designed to award those dogs that demonstrate proficiency as hunting dogs. Specifically, the stake is designed to focus on dogs that have completed their JH title and are working towards the SH title and/or dogs that need a chance to compete and obtain fieldwork to both improve their hunting abilities and to showcase their existing talents. Each brace is 15 minutes. Dogs may be collared while on point and may run with a check cord. Eligibility: Any dog that is eligible to compete in licensed AKC pointing breed field trials or hunt tests is eligible to run in Hunting Dog Stakes. Bitches in season may not run. Placements will be made at the end of each day and ribbons will be awarded for Places 1 thru 4. A dog may run, but is not eligible for placements in a stake if it: - has completed a Senior Hunter or Master Hunter title - has placed 1st in a broke dog stake. Other breeds, or Vizslas not owned by TBVC members, are eligible for placement at individual stakes only. Only Vizslas owned by TBVC members are eligible for cumulative placements and the Hunting Dog of the Year Traveling trophy. Judging: Judging is done by the Gunners and is based on a dog s actual performance and its potential as a worthy hunting companion. 8 AGREEMENT FOR RELEASE AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY ADULT (18 years of age & older) I request permission to participate in cross-country riding and foxhunting activities, or any other activities or fundraisers whether equine or nonequine related, sponsored by Misty Morning Hounds, Inc.and/or The Perry Plantation (TPP), (hereinafter referred to as Equine Activity Sponsor ). I further understand that any of these activities hold inherent risks even if I am a spectator or guest and am not riding a horse. I fully understand that horsebackriding, cross-country riding and foxhunting (which includes riding over fences, other obstacles, and steep and rough terrain) are very dangerous activities. I wish to participate in these activities knowing they are dangerous. I accept and assume all the risks of injury (including death) to me or my property. In exchange for being permitted to participate in these activities, for myself, my heirs, guardians, and legal representatives, I release and agree not to make or bring any claim of any kind against TPP, Misty Morning Hounds, Inc. or its Masters, officers, directors, members, employees, or guests or any land owners, landholders or other persons making property available for Misty Morning Hounds, Inc. for any injury (including death), to me or any damage to my property whether from anyone s negligence or not, or any other cause, arising out of my participation in these dangerous horsebackriding, foxhunting or related or unrelated activities; and I also agree if anyone makes any claims because of any injury to me (including death), or for any damage to my property, I will keep all those released by this agreement free of any damages or costs because of those claims. Furthermore, In connection with any attempt to recover losses incurred with the enforcement of this agreement, I agree to pay Releasee s attorney s fees, reasonable costs and/or expenses for which expenditure is made or liability incurred by any Releasee. My signature also authorizes Misty Morning Hounds and TPP to use images (of me and my family and friends) to promote the events in which we participate on the website and in various media formats. This agreement remains if full force, does not require renewal, & does not have an expiration date. Misty Morning Hounds and TPP endorse a policy of wearing a helmet for all mounted horsebackriding activities. I understand that wearing a helmet during mounted or riding activities adds to my personal safety. If I elect not to wear a helmet during horsebackriding, foxhunting, or related activities of any kind with Misty Morning Hounds, Inc. and TPP, I do so at my own risk and I release & agree not to make or bring any claim of any kind against Misty Morning Hounds, Inc., its Masters, officers, directors, owners, members, employees, guests, landowners, TPP, or any other person for any injuries, death or damage to my property whether from anyone's negligence or not. For and in consideration of the above activities, services, and entry fees paid or waived, receipt and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, Participant hereby does forever and finally release, remise, acquit, satisfy and forever discharge the Equine Activity Sponsor of and from all manner of action and actions, cause and causes of action, suit, debts, dues, sums of money, bonds, billings, contracts, controversies, agreements, promises, damages, variances, judgments, executions, claims and demands whatsoever, in law or in equity, which may arise or might in the future arise or herein after may arise for or against the Equine Activity Sponsor for the activities as stated above. This document is meant to be a full and complete release from any and all liability that may arise from participating in the above described equine activity. I understand that this release is effective from the date signed until revoked by Misty Morning Hounds, Inc. in writing. WARNING UNDER FLORIDA LAW, AN EQUINE ACTIVITY SPONSOR OR EQUINE PROFESSIONAL IS NOT LIABLE FOR AN INJURY TO, OR THE DEATH OF, A PARTICIPANT IN EQUINE ACTIVITIES RESULTING FROM THE INHERENT RISKS OF EQUINE ACTIVITIES. Also please contain all smoking, ashes, & butts to the inside of your vehicle. Vapor smoking out on property ok. You are welcome to use the grill and fire pit at the camping area. Please use the screen when using the fire pit. If you bring a couple of firelogs, it makes for a very easy fire-start. You are welcome to add deadfall wood from the farm. Also please pick up any manure or dog poop and put in the manure spreader or scatter in the rough woods. Please do not dump around the bases of the oak trees. Thanks!
