1 Hello Everyone 06/24/17 Time for another installment on our newsletters, so here goes. I absolutely hate starting off with sad news but have no choice. Many of you remember Jean and Larry Lohr who at one time lived here in the park and then moved over to Vizcaya after a short time in Northport. They d gone to Virginia to see one of their grandsons graduate and while there Larry went golfing with family and had a massive heart attack on the course. His funeral was Tuesday and his wife Jean plans on selling the home they have in Vizcaya and returning home to live near family. If any of you wish to send a card please send them to Jean Lohr, 403 Victoria Drive, Bridgewater Virginia 22812, c/o Chuck Keller. In lieu of flowers please send the money you would have spent to Kyger Funeral Home, 3173 Spotswood Trail, Harrisonburg, Virginia to help pay for the funeral. Thanks and God Bless. We have had way over 20 inches of rain since you all departed for home. Lightning struck May 20 th and took out Mary Potter Johnsons television, vcr and other electrical things. Dick Frutinger lost his air conditioner and had to replace it. Everyone in the park heard that awful boom when it struck! Since then we have had rain almost every day. The canal is super full and the grass was almost knee high before the mowers could find a day when it didn t rain to mow it. We ve had a bear in Riverwood. It didn t cause any real damage but did find their trash cans interesting until people

2 were advised to move the cans into their garages (no kidding duh) It is believed what with all the fires we have been having lately that the bear was pushed out of its home. It was caught after about two weeks of roaming around and they relocated him to a new home without garbage cans. People have seen a fox in our park and we have placed signs all over saying.free rabbits eat here. Sure hope he can read. We ve been having some great eat outs while you ve been gone. About twenty to twenty six of us are experiencing a few added pounds around our middles but the foods been yummy. Let s see, we ve visited Olive Garden,Walleys, CiCis, Olympia, Sonny s, Perkins, Plaza Mexico, Josephs Deli, among a few and this Wednesday for lunch we plan on going to Elviros. Friday night dinner is still up in the air. We have had numerous potlucks here in the park also. We even bet on the Belmont horse races. What fun. The great hats and costumes were a hoot to see. Next year we plan on making five adult stick horses and make a race track around the clubhouse so that we can have even more fun. It seems all we do is eat and then eat some more. It will soon come to an end though because the real shakers and movers in the park are going up north for a few months..mary Ellen Paquin, Sue and Fred Bender, Beth Roach, and Donna Wallace will be gone for a good spell and Frank and Penny are traveling to Alaska. They will not be taking the camper. It will go up for sale real soon. Anyone interested in a motor home???? There will be two real nice homes in Vizcaya going

3 up for sale also. Three bedrooms two baths etc. (Jean Lohrs home and her cousins place) If interested let Ken know. Whiskey Creek has closed its doors for good. After forty some years, they have decided that they aren t able to make ends meet anymore. It took one week to close the building, move out furniture etc. and put up a for sale sign. WaWa s hasn t shown any signs of building yet and O Reilleys auto is on 41. Have any of your Wal Mart stores gone under renovations? The one in Port Charlotte has installed more of the self check out registers and people standing there to help you through it. The shoe department and many other places have been moved, so you will have a little bit of trouble finding things. It s more open like the other ones. The plan is to make ALL Wal Mart layouts the same no matter what state you are in. People are not happy and jobs have been cut back. Earl Chappell was in the hospital not long ago with leg problems. He has since been released and joins us for our nights out to dinner. He has always had leg problems but they seem to be getting worse, so please put him in your prayers. Gas down here has been flip flopping between $2.21 and $2.05. The little station just down from us is the cheapest and the one over by Publix. Food has come down some since you all left. Even with the influx of summer vacationers, our food and gas are manageable. The heat has been almost unbearable at times..carports are registering temperatures of 110 and

4 more and the humidity after the rain is suffocating. Women are glowing (sweating) a lot this summer and the men just look bedraggled! Hairdos are things of the past and we always look like we just stepped out of the shower in our clothes. More men are sporting bald heads and women s hair lines are shorter and shorter. We are having some trouble with rats in our circle. Along with the rabbits, which have signs of mange, we are having to cope with rats. Some are quite large while the palm rats are smaller, but hey a rat is a rat no matter what size right??! The rabbits are getting freakier and freakier. It s like they know what you are thinking and you can just see the smirk on their faces when they run away from you. Many of them just stay put and make you walk over them. Those are the ones sporting cigars and we call them the mafia lords. THEN there are the mosquitoes!! Yikes they are voracious! Remember some of the lines from movies on t.v. like Don t go into the long grass from Jurassic park and Don t go into the woods? Well DON T!!! If you step off the sidewalk or roads, you are just asking to be eaten! Yup they can drain a human in no time flat. The people that walk around us looking pale are no longer thought of as people who haven t gotten in the sun yet, but known as people who went into the LONG GRASS! Ha ha. If you walk to slow, they will find you. There have been no problems in the park so far. All home are looking good. Roof s are sound and no leaks in the ones Ken

5 watches. The clubhouse and library have been painted and Frank is trying hard to get the trees trimmed before the hurricane season starts up with a bang. So far no storms have been sighted in our area. I m sure I already told you that Edgewater is open with four round-abouts. If you aren t familiar with them, be careful and mindful of what lane you are in. Think I will close now.
