1 ANFIELD SCHOOL 安菲爾學校 The British Curriculum School in Hong Kong Welcome to the Anfield School e-newsletter Dear Parents, It is a pleasure to welcome you to the start of another exciting year at Anfield! Your children will be rested after their summer break and ready to be challenged in their studies. I hope that returning students will have taken note of the targets set for them in June, which will help them make maximum progress. Once again, I am reassured that the strong and effective working partnership between home and school will continue to the benefit of all students. Our focus on providing a healthy school environment ensures that you can be secure in the knowledge that the children are returning to a safe and healthy place of learning. For those of you who bring your child to school by private car or taxi, please remember that there is no parking or dropping off on the roads outside or near to the school. To avoid traffic congestion and the resulting dangers to the children, please park in the public spaces at World-Wide Gardens or else park well away from the immediate area. Your help in this matter is much appreciated.
2 Please remember that if you have any queries, however large or small, my door is always open. Vicky Davies Principal BACK TO SCHOOL Autumn term starts on Monday 27 th August Please note that for the week beginning Monday 27 th August until Friday 31 st August the children will finish school at 3.30pm. The compulsory extra-curricular activities every Monday and Wednesday will begin on 3 rd September when all the children have settled in. The Anfield School Official Facebook Page & Instagram We are delighted to share, and invite you to visit, our Anfield School official Facebook page at: The Anfield School Facebook page is filled with photos, videos and updates from Anfield. We will bring you, and your family, the latest events from within our Anfield community. 4 SUMMER UNIFORM COMMUNITY TRAFFIC POLICE The Community Traffic Officer has informed us that the roads around Worldwide Gardens will be closely monitored by their department on a daily basis. Traffic Wardens will be issuing tickets to parents who park their vehicles in the area. Thank you for your attention to this matter. PARKING Please note that there is NO parking in school or on the roadside outside of school. To avoid traffic congestion and the resulting dangers to the children, please avoid parking close to the school. We have been informed by the Management Office of World-Wide Gardens, that the local police will be monitoring traffic near the school daily from 7.15 to 8.15am and also from 3.15 to 4.45pm to ensure that cars are not being parked illegally. Please follow our advice and do not park near the school as you run the risk of receiving a parking ticket! SCHOOL BUS If you have any enquires about school bus, you may contact Mr. Yim of the school bus on or Ms. May on Please ensure that the adult who is meeting your child is clear about the pick-up/drop-off point and time. The student pick-up card must be shown when collecting the child.
5 Please remember that on a normal school day, if you decided to collect your child from school instead of letting them catch the school bus home, then the Administrative Office must be informed by phone or at least 2 hours before the end of the school day, so that the relevant arrangements can be communicated to school staff and the bus company. STUDENT PICK-UP CARDS Please be reminded of the pick-up card arrangements. General procedure for collecting students from school Anyone collecting your child from school should present his/her Anfield School Pick-up Card to the teacher at the time of dismissal. If you cannot collect your child in person, the card should be passed to one of the persons named on our Release Authorisation Form. The teacher will release your child to that person but only upon presentation of the pick-up card (student card). In the case that you are unable to forward the card to anyone, you must call the school office on as soon as possible, to inform the school as to who will be collecting your child and by providing his/her FULL NAME and HONG KONG ID NUMBER (even if his/her name is already named on the Release Authorisation Form). If we do not hear from you, we will not release your child until we have contacted you and/or an authorised person comes to pick the child up. The school will call you for reconfirmation if we have any doubt regarding non-parental pick up. STUDENT TEMPERATURE RECORD SHEET Please take your child's temperature every day before they come to school. Parents/Guardians should record the child's temperature on the record sheet which can be downloaded from the school website and sign it daily. Children will have their temperature checked again as they arrive school. *If the temperature is over 99 o F or 37.2 o C, your child should not come to school and you should consult a doctor promptly. Please contact the school to let us know that your child will be absent. THE FRIENDS OF ANFIELD On joining Anfield, parents automatically become members of the Friends of Anfield Group. The Friends of Anfield will be contacting parents shortly to pass on information of interest/notifications of events.
6 ADDRESS The majority of correspondence from Anfield School is by . Please ensure that we have your primary contact address. Contact from the Friends of Anfield will be via the Administrative Office. Your address will not be distributed beyond Anfield School. NEWSLETTERS Newsletters will be sent to you by each Friday, keeping you up to date with what your child has been learning and also passing on general information and dates for your diary. However, if there are fewer than 4 school days in the week, no newsletter will be sent. Please spare some time each week to read this important and informative communication. JEWELLERY The wearing of jewellery at school creates a Health and Safety risk to all. Small stud earrings are permitted but no other jewellery should be worn. Earrings must be removed for P.E. lessons/ecas. NUT FREE SCHOOL Anfield School is a NUT FREE school as we have a number of students and staff with severe nut allergies across the year-levels. When someone is allergic to tree nuts or peanuts, the immune system overreacts to proteins in these foods. Every time the person eats (or, in some cases, handles or breathes in) a peanut or tree nut, the body thinks the proteins are harmful invaders. The immune system responds by kicking into high gear to fend off the invader. This causes an allergic reaction, in which chemicals like histamine are released in the body. This would cause the affected student to have a severe and possibly life threatening allergic reaction, in need of medication and possible hospital care. Children eat in a communal lunch room and so expose all children and staff to nut products if these are brought in. This includes chocolates such as Ferrero Roche and peanut butter products. Therefore we ask that you please be thoughtful and sensitive to this issue when making your child s snack/lunch and not allow them bring any nuts or nut-products to school.
