The OKC purchased Connie's three part series that will show you how to start a dog in obedience to getting them ready to show in Utility. DVD 1 - Untrained dogs are taught basic obedience skills as well as the fundamentals of retrieving and jumping. DVD 2 highlights recall skills, recalls, drop on recall and signal exercises, jumping skills, broad jump, go outs and directed jumping. DVD 3 includes heeling skills,m halts, turns, pivots and finishes, retrieving skills flat retrive, retrieve over the high jump, gloves and articles, and stationary skills of stays, moving stand and stand for exam. These DVDs build on each other so the best way to really learn her methods is to make time for learning each month. I have previewed all of these DVDs and they are fantastic. I have tried her methods and they are easy to use and make sense to your dog. Mark your calendar for the 3rd Wednesday of January, February and March. The first DVD will be January 21 at 6 pm at the OKC building. We will enjoy Potato/Bacon/Cheddar cheese soup and French Bread. Cost is $5 per person. In Memory and Thankfulness Submitted 12/27/14 by Helen Briwa Ken Ochalla died this week in the Omro Hospital. He went in with pneumonia on Tuesday and was on a respirator for several days when he asked to be removed. He died a short time later. He has been suffering from ALS and had deteriorated since he came to his last OKC meeting this fall. Ken contributed to the OKC in many ways. He and Mary Jo were in charge of floor tapinng and the groomingarea at the Spring Show; he and Mary Jo were also n charge of the summer picnic and did a fabulous job. He had served a term as OKC President and had done many other things for the club. We send our best wishes and condolences to Mary Jo and her family. The OKC will miss him! 2 2014 OKC Awards Party Recap A good time was had at the 2014 awards party held at Primos in Oshkosh on Wednesday, December 10th.!!! Thank you to those OKC members who came to celebrate the success of fellow club members as well as the holiday season! There was definitely "Good Cheer" in the air. The OKC acknowledged 25 dogs and their owners / club members on earning 64 AKC titles. Titles were earned in the following areas: conformation, obedience, rally, agility, coursing, barn hunt, therapy dog, and canine good citizens Once again we stuffed ourselves on a fabulous buffet and appreciate those folks who took the time to complement the service, food, and location. We want to send a HUGE thank you to the following companies who donated to our party. This year we were able to put on this party for WAY under the budgeted amount due to the generosity of the following local businesses: Holt's Jewelry in Neenah donated ALL the engraving on our goblets again this year! Door Prizes donated by. Lakeside Animal Hospital Oshkosh donated a free spay/neuter. Epic salon in Neenah donated a gift certificate for a free haircut and various products. Meriel, Midwest Vet Supply, and Royal Canin... donated products including food, Frontline, Vetra 3D, a variety of supplements and more. The 3rd Annual Ugly Sweater Contest was another hit. Thanks to Pete Pischke our secret judge for handing out the honors. The lucky winner was Julie Siefert with 1st runnerup going to Karen Combs. Kudos to all who created, purchased, or simply dug out their ugly Christmas sweaters... 4 2015 Obedience / Rally Run-Thrus Friday, January 2nd Obedience and Rally Novice Friday, February 6th Obedience and Rally Advanced Time: 6:30 p.m. start time. Sign up begins and building opens at 6 p.m. Cost: $6 for the first run. $3 for each additional run with the same dog. Location: Oshkosh Kennel Club 220 W. This is a great chance to socialize your dog as well as practice and prepare for trials. The Oshkosh Kennel Club is a beautiful facility and we will enjoy sharing it with you!
