The workshop will cover topics such as; Roles of senior judges. How to accept apprentices. DQ s, Misconducts, Excusals, Eliminating Faults, and Withholding Awards. How to wicket a dog. How to span a dog rule changes. Registration will be limited to 50 UKC licensed judges. Priority will be given to judges wishing to meet or maintain senior status and mentor apprentices. Unlimited audit spots available. Audits will not count toward UKC judges education requirements to meet or maintain senior status or for new applicants. Dogs must be permanently registered with UKC, have a Temporary Listing (TL) number, or have a Performance Listing/Limited Privilege (PL/LP) number. Litter registered dogs are not eligible to enter licensed classes. Dogs must meet the registration criteria by the pre-entry closing date and time in order to pre-enter. No exceptions will be made. Entries for ineligible dogs will be returned if identified. For Day of Show entries, dogs must be permanently registered, have a (TL) or (PL/LP) number before the Day of Show entry deadline date and time. 2. Dogs must meet the eligibility requirements for the event which they are entering. For requirements, refer to the appropriate event rules and regulations. 3. An un-entered dog may be substituted for an entered dog in Obedience, Rally Obedience, Agility and Drag Racing only. Please see the CLASS CHANGE/CORRECTION OF ENTRY policy in this premium list for details. Pre-Entries open September 4, Pre-Entry Specials - Pre-entry specials do not cross over events. Conformation: $20 per entry. $100 for all 6 shows, made at the same time. Junior Showmanship: No Charge. Agility: $20 first entry. $15 second entry (same day, same dog, same trial) made at the same time. Enter 6 agility classes at the same time with the same dog for $100. Pre-Entry Closing Date: Pre-Entries entries will be accepted at United Kennel Club until Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Entries received after the Pre-Entry deadline date will be held and will be charged Day of Show entry fees. NO EXCEPTIONS. 3. DAY OF SHOW Entry Fees. Conformation: $25 per entry. Junior Showmanship: No Charge. Agility: $25 first entry. $20 each additional entry (same day, same dog, same trial) made at the same time. Drag Racing: $25 first entry. $20 each additional entry (same day, same dog, same race) made at the same time. Obedience: $25 first entry. $20 each additional entry (same day, same dog, same trial) made at the same time. Rally Obedience: $25 first entry. $20 each additional entry (same day, same dog, same trial) made at the same time. 4. Day-of-Show Entry Times. Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 7-8 a.m. Drag Racing Entries will be accepted until 12 noon. (Applies to Drag Racing only, No Exceptions. Entries will be taken at the track.) PLEASE NOTE: Performance Event entries will close in accordance with the information above OR when the numerical limit for the event has been reached (whichever comes first), after which time entries shall not be accepted, cancelled, or altered (except as noted in the refund/substitution section of this Premium List). No wait lists will be established. No exceptions will be made. Entries received after that time will not be accepted. 5. Each dog must be entered on a separate entry form. 6. No entries will be accepted if conditions are placed upon its acceptance. (No Conditional Entries). 7. Any entry missing required information, fees, or any faxed entry missing authorization for UKC to use a credit card for entry fees will not be processed nor counted as received until required information, fees, or authorization is obtained. SUBMITTING ENTRIES Gateway Nationals entries may be submitted on the Official Gateway Nationals UKC Entry form included with this Premium List or on any current official UKC entry form ( Photocopies of these forms may be used. Entries may be submitted online on the UKC official website: starting on September 4, Mailed Entries must include all fees. Any mailed entries 2018 Gateway Nationals 3

4 received prior to September 4, 2018 or without all fees will not be accepted or considered received. It is highly recommended to send mailed entries with a tracking number or delivery confirmation. Credit Card number and expiration date, as well as the printed cardholder s name and address must be included on the entry form. A faxed entry must be received in UKC s office by the closing date and time of pre-entries and must be fully legible and complete in order for it to be accepted. Faxed entries will not be accepted after the closing date and time based on a Transmission OK message in the possession of the owner; no exceptions. Faxed entries received after the closing date and time of pre-entries will be charged the Day-of-Show entry fee. No exceptions. Entries may be hand-delivered to the United Kennel Club office at 100 E Kilgore Rd, Kalamazoo MI PAYMENT FOR ENTRIES 1. Payment (pre-entry and day of show) must be made by cash, check, money order, or credit card. No entry will be accepted without full payment. 2. Make checks and money orders payable to United Kennel Club Checks and money orders must be payable in U.S. funds. 3. When paying by credit card, entry must include the card number and expiration date, as well as the printed cardholder s name, address, daytime phone, and signature. addresses should be included, when applicable. 4. Post-dated checks, returned checks and declined credit or debit cards do not constitute valid entry fees. UKC will add a collection fee to the amount of each returned check or money order. Exhibitors who repeatedly submit invalid entry fees may be put on a CASH ONLY basis. ENTRY CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS 1. Entry cancellations MUST be received in writing prior to the closing of Pre-Entries or prior to the numerical entry limit for performance events has been reached, and MUST include the dog s UKC number, breed and name. No cancellations will be accepted over the phone. Cancellations with all necessary information ed to gateway@ukcdogs.com will be acceptable. 2. No refunds will be given for invalid entries and dogs found to have been entered in the incorrect class after the class has been judged. 3. No refund of entry fees will be made for entries cancelled after the Pre-Entry deadline or if the numerical entry limit for performance events has been reached, except in the cases of bitches that come into season and are entered in a performance event. In those cases, refunds may be obtained by providing the superintendent with a veterinarian s certificate verifying that the bitch came into season after the closing date. The certificate must have the official logo or letterhead from the vet along with all contact information and may be mailed, provided the postmark is no later than the date prior to the day of the trial, or delivered by hand at the event to the UKC Superintendent personnel before the start of the trial(s). The UKC Superintendent will determine if a bitch has come into season on the day of the event to determine if a refund will be given. 4. Cancelled entries submitted before the close of entries will be charged a 50% processing fee for each entry cancelled or of the entire entry fee if all entries are cancelled. No entries will be refunded after the closing date and time or after entry limits have been reached. 5. Entry fees shall not be refunded if a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of the Event Committee. 6. Every effort will be made to find all duplicate entries before processing. If a duplicate entry is processed, however, no refund will be given. 7. Entry overpayments will not be refunded. 8. If, because of weather, riots, civil disturbances, or other acts beyond the control of the host organization it is impossible to open or to complete a show or trial, no refund of entry fee will be made. 9. If, in the opinion of the host club, the well-being of dogs, exhibitors or spectators is at risk due to extreme weather conditions, such as, but not limited to rain/thunderstorms, tornados, snow storms, hurricanes, lightning, or extreme heat, the host club may cancel or stop a show or trial before completion. No refunds will be made in such cases. ENTRY CONFIRMATION, ARMBANDS AND JUDGING PROGRAM 1. Receipt of online entry. When an online entry is submitted exhibitors will receive an ed receipt of the entry fees charged and then a separate containing the information submitted for the online entry. This does not constitute acceptance or confirmation of an acceptable entry. Acceptance and confirmation of entry acceptance will be sent in a separate once the entry has been processed. 2. ed confirmation of entries will be sent to the address included on the entry form as soon as possible after the entry has been accepted and processed. Please verify the classes/events your dog is entered into when receiving this of processed entry. If there are any errors, please contact UKC Show Operations Department at gateway@ukcdogs.com or (269) immediately. 3. One armband will be assigned to each dog for all shows/trials in which the dog is entered for the weekend. Armbands will not be mailed but will be available for pick up at the event site from the superintendents table. Entry confirmation information will be printed on the back of the armband. Please verify the classes/events your dog is entered into upon picking your armband up. If there are any errors, please see the superintendent at the event immediately. All entry errors must be corrected prior to the start of judging. 4. A duplicate set of armbands will be available at the superintendent s desk. CLASS CHANGE/CORRECTION OF ENTRY Owners are responsible for the accuracy of information and any errors on the entry forms. There will be no refunds for invalid entries. Dogs that, according to their owners records, have completed the requirements for a title after the closing of entries, may be moved-up from the entered class to another class for which the dog is now eligible. Requests for a move-up must be made in writing to UKC no later than one-half hour prior to the start of any regular judging at the show. All other corrections to entries must be made in writing to the Event Secretary no later than one-half hour prior to the start of any regular judging at the show. Dogs entered in Agility, Drag Racing, Obedience or Rally Obedience may be substituted if the entered dog is unable to remain entered. Substitutions will only be made for the same event type and class(es) in which the original dog was entered. The substituted dog does not have to be entered in all of the classes as the original dog, however no refund will be given for classes not being substituted. (For example, if the original dog was entered in AGI A for all 6 agility trials, the substituted dog may only be entered in the AGI A class for up to all six agility trials.) All substitutions must be submitted in writing with an entry correction form and a newly completed entry form for the substituted dog prior to the close of Day of Show entries on the day in which the substitution will be taking effect. 5 a. Junior Showmanship. Show 1; immediately followed by Junior Showmanship Show 2. b. Breed Judging. Shows 1 & 2 to follow the judging of Junior Showmanship, or at the discretion of the Event Committee. c. Group Judging. Group judging to commence immediately following all breeds in that group, or at the discretion of the Event Committee. 2. Agility. Trial 1; Trial 2 to follow Trial 1; however, the order of classes and trials may be judged in any order and will be posted. 3. Obedience and Rally Obedience. Times will be announced in the Judging Program. 4. Drag Racing. Times to be announced in the Judging Program. TOTAL DOG AWARD To be eligible for a Total Dog award a dog must: On Friday, October 26, 2018, win in conformation with competition or CAOM and GAOM will be counted if applicable and on the same day earn a qualifying score in a qualifying performance event. Total Dog Hunting Title Bye-In! Dogs that have earned a hunting title in any hunting event recognized by UKC on or before October 3, 2018, can enter the UKC Gateway Nationals as eligible for Total Dog. All dogs must be designated as entering Total Dog upon submission of entry into the Conformation class in which the dog is eligible for on Friday, October 26, Altered Total Dog Award! Altered dogs are eligible to compete for an Altered Total Dog Award! The requirements are identical to the regular Total Dog requirements except that the conformation qualifier must come from the altered conformation classes. CAOM and GAOM will be counted if applicable. All dogs must be designated as entering the Altered Total Dog competition upon submission of entry into the altered conformation class in which the dog is eligible for on Friday, October 26, Conformation Requirements Win one of the following classes: Best Male/Female of Variety, Best Male/Female, Best of Winners, Champion, Grand Champion, Best of Breed, Group 1 through 4 (Note: Group 4 win only counts if there are five or more breeds in the Group class.), Best In Show, Best In Multi-Breed Show, Reserve Best In Show, or Reserve Best In Multi-Breed Show; with special permission from the United Kennel Club the following addition to the existing Total Dog Rules regarding conformation competition requirements for the Champion and Grand Champion classes shall apply solely on Friday, October 26, Champion Classes. The following will be granted a competition win: 1. Champion Competition win with 2 or more dogs in competition. 2. Reserve Champion win with 3 or more dogs in competition. 3. Champion Award of Merit (CAOM) shall count toward competition win when computing a total dog qualifier. The number of Champion Awards of Merit to be awarded shall be calculated as follows: 5-9 dogs in competition 1 CAOM dogs in competition 2 CAOM dogs in competition 3 CAOM dogs in competition 4 CAOM dogs in competition 5 CAOM dogs in competition 6 CAOM dogs in competition 7 CAOM 4. Grand Champion Classes. Grand Award of Merits (GAOM) shall count towards competition when computing a total dog qualifier. The number of Grand Awards of Merit to be awarded shall be calculated as follows: 3-4 dogs in competition 1 GAOM 5-9 dogs in competition 2 GAOM dogs in competition 3 GAOM dogs in competition 4 GAOM dogs in competition 5 GAOM dogs in competition 6 GAOM dogs in competition 7 GAOM dogs in competition 8 GAOM Qualifying Performance Event Requirements: A qualifying score must be earned in any of the following; agility trial, obedience trial, rally obedience trial, drag race (Aptitude class not eligible for Total Dog) on Friday, October 26, Dogs who meet the above requirements will automatically receive a special Total Dog award. On Saturday, October 27, 2018, just after Saturday s Best In Show competition, the following will take place (consult the Judging Program for changes in procedure, time or location): 1. A parade of Total Junior participants and qualifiers (dog and handler teams) report for the parade of Total Juniors and the announcement of Total Junior Qualifiers. 2. A parade of all Total Dog qualifiers (including Altered) for special recognition of competition. All Total Dog Qualifiers (dog AND handler teams) report for the parade of Total Dog Qualifiers. 3. Next, all Total Dog qualifiers will immediately compete in Total Dog Groups. The Total Dog Groups are the standard eight group designations. Each dog that qualifies will compete in the group that its breed belongs to. There will be NO ALTERED TOTAL DOG GROUP COMPETITION. 4. Then, the Total Dog Group One winners will proceed to the judging of the Gateway Nationals Total Dog Best In Show competition. 5. Lastly, the competition of Altered Total Dog qualifiers will compete for a 2018 Gateway Nationals Altered Total Dog Best In Show. TOTAL JUNIOR AWARD - CONFORMATION & PERFORMANCE To be eligible for a Total Junior award a junior must: 1. Compete in a UKC Junior Showmanship Licensed class and earn a 1st-4th placement with competition, or an Award of Merit. Licensed classes include Novice Junior, Novice Senior, Open Junior and Open Senior. 2. Award of Merit for UKC Junior Showmanship classes will be calculated as follows: *Award of Merit will only be given if the individual class meets these requirements. 6 Junior Handlers in competition 1 AOM 9 Junior Handlers in competition 2 AOM 12 Junior Handlers in competition 3 AOM 15 Junior Handlers in competition 4 AOM 18 Junior Handlers in competition 5 AOM 3. The Junior must also earn a qualifying score in any one performance event on the same day the conformation requirement was earned. Qualifying performance events are Agility, Obedience, Rally Obedience, Drag Race (Aptitude class not eligible). 4. Juniors who meet these requirements will automatically receive a special Total Junior award. JUDGING CONFLICTS FOR DOGS COMPETING IN MULTIPLE EVENTS 1. Exhibitors are responsible for being available for judging at the scheduled time. 2. Every possible effort will be made to accommodate exhibitors who have dogs entered in multiple events, but judges are not required to wait for dogs. Exhibitors are advised to notify stewards in all rings affected by the conflict so that judges make accomodations as necessary Gateway Nationals 5

6 3. If a performance exhibitor misses a scheduled judging time, the judge has the discretion to allow that exhibitor to run at the end of the class when possible or mark the dog absent. The Judge s decision is final. No dog may be judged after the class has been awarded. EVENT HOURS Show/trial judging times will be published in the Gateway Nationals Judging Program. Event hours are from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. unless otherwise stated in the judging program. GENERAL BUILDING AND PARKING INFORMATION 1. Building will be open to exhibitors at 7 a.m. and stay open until 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2018 through Sunday, October 28, (Overnight security is not provided and no dog(s) may be left in the building overnight.) 2. All event location times are Central Time. 3. Please follow the directions of the parking attendants to facilitate an orderly traffic flow through the unloading areas and in the parking areas. Vehicles are allowed a 15-minute unloading time. Violators will be towed. 4. Empty grooming space may not be saved. Grooming space is on a first come, first served basis. 5. No rugs or ground cover mats are allowed on the grooming room floor. No tents or non-grooming tables are allowed in the grooming area. 6. There will be absolutely NO SMOKING OR VAPING in any buildings. Smoking is only permitted in designated areas. 7. NO powdering or other grooming products used to alter or enhance a dog s coat or color are allowed. 8. Overnight parking for R.V. s and camping registration available. For camping information, see the Camping Reservation form in this Premium List. EXHIBITOR AND GENERAL INFORMATION 1. All events are held under the Rules and Regulations of the United Kennel Club. By entering these shows/trials, exhibitors acknowledge that they are familiar with the rules and regulations of the event(s) in which they have entered. 2. UKC, its agents and its employees assume no responsibility for any loss, damage, or injury sustained by spectators or by exhibitors and handlers, or to any of their dogs or property, and further assume no responsibility for injury to children not under the control of their parents or guardians. UKC is not responsible for loss, accidents or theft. 3. UKC encourages exhibitors to present their dogs with the least amount of grooming necessary to enable a Judge to properly compare each dog with the standard of its breed. Dogs should be clean, with nails cut to a length suitable for the dog to perform the work for which it was bred, and with clean teeth. The Judge s determination that this rule has been violated shall be final. UKC enforces rules against artificially altering pigment and coat color, coat texture, and surgical alterations as outlined in the UKC Rules and Regulations. 4. THE OWNER OR DESIGNATED HANDLER of each dog is solely responsible for having it ready at ringside when its class is to be judged. The host organization, event committee, and superintendent have no obligation or responsibility for providing service through a public-address system, or stewards or runners for the purpose of locating dogs that are not at the ring when required. 5. Dogs may arrive any time prior to their scheduled time of judging. Dogs not required for further judging do not need to remain in attendance. 6. Please remember to turn off cell phones and/or pagers before entering rings. 7. Dogs are not to be left unattended when crated in soft mesh crates, in an unlatched crate or on a grooming table. 9. Except when being judged or when crated, dogs must be kept on a leash being held by a handler. 10. Exhibitors and dog owners are expected and required to clean up after their own dogs. Any person witnessing a violation of this rule must report it to the Event Committee. The Event Committee may ask any person violating this rule to leave the event grounds. No refund will be made if an exhibitor is asked to leave the grounds. 11. Absolutely no alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs will be allowed on the grounds or in the buildings on the day of a UKC Licensed event. 12.
