3 Dear Leo Lovers, Something BIG is happening on the east coast this Memorial Day Weekend and we hope you can make plans to join us! Three Regional Leonberger Clubs have teamed up with the LCA and the New Castle Cluster to offer an event you don t want to miss. At just 6 hours or less from Richmond, Lexington, New York, Chicago, and Toronto, we are the ideal Leo destination for a huge swath of the country! In fact, the event is so BIG that there is too much information to have in just this premium and the separate Concurrent premium (available thru infodog.com). The multiple breed clubs who are sponsoring the All-Breed shows will have tons to offer as well health testing, demonstrations, complimentary food for spectators, etc. Besides the great information we have tried to pack in here, please check out the 80+ page premium for the Memorial Day Cluster on infodog.com to see just how much is going on! Consider this the Leo Centric Supplement. I am pleased to share that we are keeping traditions alive while trying some innovations at this event. One of the biggest accomplishments is the LCA s first ever Concurrent Specialty. On Saturday, we will have two POINTED shows in one day! The Concurrent Specialty follows the All-Breed show. The winner of the All-Breed Show goes to Group while the winner of the Concurrent Specialty gets Best in Specialty Show. The Clubs will have a big, combined specialty Saturday evening as well The Traditional Leo Exhibition with written critiques and beautiful rosettes and prizes. Hence, the TRIPLE CROWN! The Regional Clubs are supporting the All-Breed Events Friday thru Monday with rosettes and trophies, making these events a little more special. We hope you'll enter for the wonderful judges, majors, fun of exhibiting, and the wonderful rosettes and trophies. Tremendous talent is in the judging pool this year. These judges bring centuries of combined experience to the table. For the LCA Concurrent Specialty, we have the privilege of inviting Mrs. Ruth Zimmerman to judge. Mrs. Zimmerman has almost 30 years experience judging, is licensed for the entire working group, and has judged Leonbergers from coast to coast. She is lovely in the ring and will be a real pleasure for exhibitors. Ms. Shannon White, our Sweeps judge, has owned and exhibited numerous Leos to their championships. She has judged Leonbergers in the past and will surely do a fantastic job in the ring once more. The Traditional Exhibition this year will feature Mrs. Carol S. Brown. Ms. Brown got involved in showing by accident helping her 12 year-old-daughter enter the sport as a junior handler. Over the years she has been very successful as a breeder, handler, show superintendent, and AKC judge. She is licensed in over three dozen breeds and has experience judging FCI shows in Europe. Her patience, seriousness, and enthusiasm make for a perfect fit for this show. We are so lucky to have her. There will be food, social opportunities, parades, shows, seminars (the breed seminar by Alida Greendyk on Sunday will be fantastic) more Leo activities than should be allowed by law. The most important ingredient, though, is you! We hope you can take the time to travel out to New Castle, PA and spend time with your Leo Family. 7 Saturday: Three Shows and a BBQ Celebration It just isn t the Memorial Day Weekend without a good BBQ meal. Luckily, we have Harry Austin, BBQ Veteran, in charge of filling our hungry bellies. We ll be having the usual fair and fixin s for the grill, but if you have a hankerin for something special, let us know by Saturday Morning and we will try our best to accommodate as best we can. The BBQ happens ringside DURING the Traditional Leonberger Exhibition. Dressin casual will keep the tears away when Harry s famous sauce makes a little splash south of the chin! Saturday Shows are Limited Entry! New Castle Kennel Club All Breed Limited to 100 Entries LCA Concurrent Specialty Limited to 100 Entries *Traditional Exhibition Entries are limited by time constraints. *The Triple Crown Committee reserves the right to appoint a second judge in order to let folks go home at night!

8 Sunday: A Show, a Seminar, and a Scenic Drive A Dog-Friendly, Delicious, Buffet Style Dinner is available at: Austintown Senior Center 112 Westchester Dr. Austintown, OH This is about a 40 minute drive from the show site. Sunday Night Buffet Style Roasted Chicken or Stuffed Breast Chicken Spaghetti and Meatballs Vegetable Dish Potatoes Salad Rolls Dessert Assorted Beverages. $20.00 Per Plate

9 Show Venue The show will take place outdoors. The cluster is going to have a Large Tent and our own ring(s) for us to use. Please plan for the weather. An average day in May has a high of 69 and a low of 46. An average day in June has a high of 77 and a low of 56. There will be LOTS of space! Parking is available adjacent to our show ring and you can setup your own outdoor space in addition to using the club provided tent. Please check the All-Breed premium for all the details on grooming and crating. A Ring at New Castle BYOT There will be plenty of room for you to Bring Your Own Tent if you want to have one for you and some friends. You can plant near the show ring - perfect for hanging out with friends! We plan to have play run available for Leos used to the DOG PARK experience.

10 Premiere Accommodations We have reservations at two hotels to accommodate our Leo Lovers! The Microtel Inn and Suites is relatively close to the show site and the nicest hotel in the area that will accept pets. The judges for the entire cluster are housed here, so we must be on our best behavior! If you like shopping, this hotel is directly beside 130 Premium Outlets The Red Roof Inn is 22 miles from the show site, but only 10 miles from the Saturday dinner. With rooms under $60 per night. The Red Roof also represents a wonderful savings opportunity for folks wanting to show and go on a budget! There are the cluster accommodations on the next page and RV Spaces as options as well. Wherever you choose to stay, you are likely to have Leo family around! 13 TRIPLE CROWN CHALLENGE PERPETUAL TROPHY Commissioned just for this show, the Triple Crown Challenge Perpetual Trophy is awarded in the event that a Leonberger is able to take Best of Breed or BISS at all three of the events designated by the Triple Crown Committee. The winning Leonberger will have his/her name engraved on the base of the trophy with four lines of text: call name, registered name, owner, & date of win. (Hope you have room to take it with you!) 17 Rules Applying to the Traditional Exhibition The Traditional Exhibition provides a European-style evaluation and written critique of each entry. Entries are judged against the AKC Standard. Eligibility: American bred dogs must be registered with the AKC and have an AKC number. Foreign bred dogs must have an FCI recognized kennel club registration number. Dogs must be at least 4 months of age (AKC Rule). Process (See Flow Chart!): 1. All Leonbergers are evaluated by and received a written critique from our esteemed judge. Each entry will receive a rating of overall quality Month Puppies and Spay/Neuter Classes are evaluated first. These dogs may not compete past Best Puppy and Best Spay/Neuter respectively. (Showing off for FUN!) 3. Regular Conformation classes begin evaluation with the Youth Class Dogs (Males). All Youth Dogs are evaluated and, from the winner of each class, a Best Youth is Awarded. 4. Dog Evaluations continue with the Adult Dog Classes. The winner of each class proceeds to the Winners Ring to compete with the Best Youth for Winners Dog. 5. Next, champion dogs and veteran dogs are evaluated. First place from these classes will go onto the Best In Show Ring. 6. Following the judging of dogs eligible to compete for BISS, bitches are judged in the same sequence and procedure as the dog classes. 7. At the conclusion of the last bitch ring, the Best of Breed Competition will proceed with the Winners Dog, and Winners Bitch joining the Veteran and Champion class winners. 8. From this last ring, the judge will select Best in Specialty Show, Best of Winners, Best of Opposite, and Best Veteran. 9. Specialty classes, like Best Bred By Exhibitor, will be judged after BISS. The Exhibitor is responsible for making sure you have your Leonberger in the correct class. If you have a question about eligibility, please usleotriplecrown@gmail.com We are here to help. 18 Conformation Classes for Traditional Format Show (See Flowchart on Next Page) Nonregular Classes (Baby Puppies and Spayed or Neutered Leos) Puppy 4-6 Month - Open to all puppies between 4 and 6 months of age. Leonbergers must be moved to the next age class on the "anniversary" of their birth. These would be puppies born between November 26th and January 25th.
