2 Dear Friends, Thank you for supporting FoCCAS by attending Paws at the Plantation 2018 Welcome and thank you for supporting the animals of Colleton County. FoCCAS is extremely proud of the work we ve done in the past year and hopes to increase our success in the next year. FoCCAS has three main goals: to decrease the number of unwanted animals by providing low cost community spay/neuter programs; to educate the public about the importance of responsible pet ownership; and to save shelter animals through reclaiming, adoptions, and rescue. Last year, FoCCAS supported the spaying or neutering of 1002 animals. We offered $25 off vouchers for surgeries at local vets, worked with SNAC for a low-cost transport to Ridgeland, and initiated a community cat program. The cost to FoCCAS was $31,643 and helped residents of Colleton County prevent unwanted litters. Additionally, FoCCAS supplemented the animal shelter s county budget with $26,428. Much of this cost was spay/neuter surgeries, vaccines, and medicines for adoptable animals. 2 Considering volunteering? If you register under Friends of Colleton County Animal Shelter, a portion of the donations will be sent to FoCCAS. All you have to do is SHOP, SHOP, SHOP! Not sure what to donate? FoCCAS and the shelter have started an Amazon Wish List. The needs of the animals change from season to season (and sometimes week to week!). You can order online from your home, work, car or anywhere and your donation will be sent directly to the shelter. Be sure to use Amazon Smile too! Animals adopted from the shelter numbered 183 and an additional 196 were returned to their owners. In combination with our rescue partners, FoCCAS and the shelter were able to send 918 animals to rescue organizations both locally and across the United States. The cost to save these animals was $17,675. With your donations, we were able to save 8 highly adoptable animals needing major surgery. This is our 7th Annual Paws at the Plantation and our largest fundraiser. However, we are so fortunate to have individuals, school groups, community groups, and businesses support the animals as well through monetary donations and supply drives.
