Introduction of guests by President Gerry - 18 members present 3 guests Recess for dinner prepared by the Lioness. Reconvene meeting THANK THE LIONESS FOR THE EXCELLENT MEAL UNFINISHED BUSINESS: President Gerry announced the nomination of officers to be held at General Meeting on March 17, 2016, with elections on April 7, Copies of duties of officers are posted in the bar. Lion Sheri nominated Lion Tony for an office, which he declined. We need 3 rd Vice President and 2-two year directors. Lion Don Hume expressed interest in the 3 rd VP office. Zone meeting Tuesday, March 15 th at the Peach Tree Restaurant in Linda, CA all welcome to attend. Lion Rhonda Blue Star Mom s will have a packing party on March 26 th 4:00 pm. Location to be announced later. Playing cards are needed. President Gerry Committee meeting for scrapbook and convention on Tuesday, March 8, 6:00 pm. Lion Joni Easter candy (wrapped) is needed before Easter. NEW BUSINESS: Lion Rhonda Our Student Speaker, Lynsey Sullivan won the Region Contest so on to the next competition later in April. President Gerry 15 clubs have submitted pull tabs for the contest. Oroville Ophir has 51 pounds. We need to get our pull tabs to the convention. President Gerry Foothill School 8 th grade class fundraiser March 15, Drive-thru with food by Cool Hand Luke $12.00 each. 50/50 drawing won by Lion Susan in the amount of $ CCI/City of Hope - $15.00 Tail Twister - $4.00. Submitted by acting Secretary, Lion Linda (Lion Sally Secretary sent home sick) MINUTES GENERAL MEETING MARCH 17, 2016 Meeting called to 7:00 pm by President Gerry. Pledge President Gerry, Prayer Lion Roberta, Song by Lions Joni & Linda (Tiny Bubbles due to the theme of the meeting Aloha). Introductions of guests by President Gerry. 35 members present 9 guests. Introduction of members of Linda Lions Club on an official visitation. The Linda Lions are holding their Car Show on April 11:30 am on D Street in Marysville. Fees for entrance of cars is $ They will be providing posters/flyers with more information. There will be a raffle and sponsors are needed. Recess for dinner prepared by the Lioness St. Patrick s Day Corned Beef and Cabbage with all the fixings. Reconvene the meeting Thank you to the Lioness for an excellent meal. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Nomination for officers upcoming year. There are three vacancies still available. Nominations from the floor for 3rd VP Lion Donald Hume III was nominated, 2-year director Lion Janet Mincer nominated. Tail Twister Lion Susan DeGraff nominated from the floor. President Gerry Convention tickets for the $1000 raffle. We have 100 tickets to sell. All tickets sold from the floor. President Gerry update on Kases for Kids project to be held at the convention. Discussion was held about the changes mentioned at the recent Cabinet Meeting in Sutter in February. More information about items requested is still needed. Lion Sheri suggested that we concentrate on items for the older kids as most usually provide items for the younger kids and babies. Z/C Dave Jensen will follow up with Lion James Gates of Chico, for more information.

5 Five Minutes continued Lion Sally informed the membership that the Anderson Lions Club will be providing name tags for the backpacks, suitcases, duffle bags, etc. Lion Joni Update on Easter Egg Hunt. Wrapped candy is still needed and there will be a egg-filling project after the general meeting. Lion Joni told us that the Lioness donated $100 towards the expenses of the Easter Egg Hunt Thank you Lioness! Lion Joni asked for 8 dozen cupcakes and volunteers to hide the 11:15 am on Saturday, March 26th. Lion Susie = update on the Spring Crab Feeds. There are approximately 122 tickets sold. Set up will be on Friday, March 18th. Raffle prizes are still needed. Lion Roberta will make up a special prize for the Crab Feed; namely, a wheelbarrow filled with good stuff. Donations were given at the meeting by several members for raffle items. Lion Susie read a Thank You Card from one of the winners of a raffle prize at the February Crab Feed, Lion Bob Agles from the Wheatland Lions Club. Lion Susie announced the Adopt-A-Highway project will be in April. Date not scheduled yet but all will be notified. Lion Sally gave an update for the Blue Star Mom s project for our Military. Lion Rhonda will pick up items from the club on March 23rd. NEW BUSINESS: President Gerry asked Lion Cindi Fitzgerald to come to the front where she was presented with a silver membership key for sponsoring two members. President Gerry asked Lion Bob Winchester to the front where he was presented with his 10-year membership chevron. Both members were very surprised to receive their awards. Lion Janet Mincer asked the members if the $200 profit from the Monday Night Comfort Foods could be donated to the Annual Veteran s BBQ thank you Lion Janet. Lion Cindi There is going to be a change in the processing of the Shares Card proceeds. She will have more information next month. OTHER BUSINESS: Lion Sally told the membership that our Student Speaker representative won the Region contest and will go on to the next level. The next contest will be on Saturday, April 2:30 pm in Chico, CA. The contest will be at Chico State in the Bell Memorial Union, Room /50 drawing was won by Lion Sheri Vess in the amount of $ CCI $35.00 and Tail Twister $ Motion to adjourn the pm by Lion Linda, 2nd by Lion Mary vote MSP Submitted by Lion Sally Carter, Secretary Lion Diana Wheeler is our Sunshine Chairman. Please contact her at with information about our members & their families. This month many of our members are still ill with that pesky virus that has been going around the club. Lions Gertie, Sally, Tammie, Rhonda and President Gerry are still having problems with their voices. Lion Jerry Harger fell and broke his hip. Lion Jerry is a fairly new member and we wish him a speedy recovery. He is at the Fountains for rehab for the fall. Lion Colleen Kelly is still ailing with her bout with pneumonia and other problems. Please let s keep Lion Colleen and Lion John is our prayers. SORRY NO BOARD MINUTES DUE TO THE CHANGE IN THE DATE FROM THE 24TH TO THE 31ST. MINUTES WILL BE IN NEXT MONTH S BULLETIN. 6 Six MONDAY NIGHT COMFORT FOODS Thank you to Lion Janet Mincer for her specialty Shepherds Pie which she prepared for our Monday Night Comfort Foods on March 10, The members and their guests enjoyed the food so much that we ran out. Lion Janet s efforts provided $200 in profits, which she asked to be earmarked to go towards our Annual Veteran s BBQ. Lion Janet is one of our members who is so very talented. She usually makes up our Raffle Baskets for different functions which are works of art. Our Monday Night Comfort Foods have a variety of chefs fixing their favorite foods. Soon our focus will change to our TACO nights. These events raise funds to help pay for our bands for our dance parties, our Christmas for the Needy, as well as other service activities. Lion Debbie Burlingame prepared her scrumptious Chicken and Dumplings for the Monday Night Comfort Foods on March 21st. We all look forward to this culinary delight when Lion Debbie has the time to prepare her specialty. As usual, the food was divine and was all gone before the evening ended. Lion Debbie asked to have the profits earmarked for the Christmas for the Needy Project. Lion Linda Saala s contribution to the Monday Night Comfort Foods was her wonderful Grilled Cheese Sandwiches with homemade Tomato Soup. So Yummy! You just have to join us! Come down eat & enjoy! See you at the next Comfort Foods Night!

7 Seven SPRING CRAB FEED MARCH 19, 2016 Lion Susie Trundy and her helpers get ready to serve up the succulent crab, shrimp, pasta, and all the fixings that go to create this wonderful event for the Foothill Lions Club. These events sell out as seating is limited. Our next Crab Feed will be in November 2016, so put this on your calendar early as reservations are mandatory. The hall looked so elegant, the raffle table was manned by Lions Kenn & Sheri Vess. Lion Roberta created a special prize as an extra special addition, a wheelbarrow filled with really good stuff. Thank you to all that donated raffle prizes. The 4-H were there to help us. We could not do without the help of our local 4-H. Many thanks to all that helped to make the evening special. Our 4-H helpers and PDG Paul Halcomb with 1st VP Kim Hall manning the welcome desk. Was nice to see Lion Paul & Lion Roberta visiting and working since they moved out of the area.

8 Eight ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT AT THE FOOTHILL LIONS CLUB MARCH 26, 2016 Lion Joni, Lion Susie, Lion Kim and the other helpers hosted a great time for our members and our guests from the community. Thousands of candy-filled eggs were hidden in our park area for the egg-hunters to find, with their parents eagerly watching. A coloring contest was manned by Lion Susie as she was guarding the stuffed animals to be presented to the children. Prizes of Chocolate Rabbits were presented to the winners of the coloring contest, which were judged by age group. Lions Susie and Kim did a great job keeping the children s interest while the egg hiders were busy outside. A visit by the Easter Bunny started the egg hunt and a good time had by all! Several parents congratulated our Lions Club for hosting such a great community activity for the local children. The kids were so excited and filled with laughter. Cupcakes and juice were served to the kids.
