1 NEW FOREIGN HERPETOLOGICAL MATERIALS RECENTLY ACQUIRED BY THE GRIGORE ANTIPA >> MUSEUM OF NATU- RAL HISTORY ( ) L'auteur prksente les matiriels herp6tologiques obtenus par le Musium $Histoire naturelle Grigore Antipa H les dix derniires annies ( ). Ce materiel contient 46 espices appartenant B 16 families. 35 de ces especes n'existaient pas avant dans les collections de notre muske. On indique aussi les donateurs et les institutions donatrices. In the present paper our intention is to present only the foreign herpetological materials acquired by our museum during the last ten years. Until now the herpetological collections of the << Grigore Antipa>> Museum have been popularized by K i r i ; e s c u (1930), C 5 1 i n e s c u (1931), F u h n (1961, 1969). All these papers present Romanian specimens only. The only paper in which we can find a larger reference to the foreign herpetological specimens from our museum is that of M a r i n e s c u and R o j a n c o v s k i (1972), about dr. Ilarie Mitrea's zoological collection from the Indo-Malayan archipelago during the years This collection contains 2 species of Amphibians and 39 species of Reptiles. The new specimens come to us from donations made by foreign museums and similar institutions from abroad, as well as from expeditions organized by our museum. For instance, many valuable materials were collected by the Director dr. doc. Mihai Bgcescu, Corr. Member of the Scientific Academy of the Socialist Republic of Romania, during his participation in the French Oceanographic Expedition in the Indian Ocean on the "Thalassa" vessel in Some Reptiles were procured by our colleagues Amelie Marcus and dr. doc. A. Popescu-Gorj, who visited Israel and respectively Brazil. The 7 specimens of Pelamis platurus were received through the donation of the Captain Petre Muregan, who also donated a large Chelonia mydas mydas. A specimen of Caretta caretta caretta was given to us by dr. Geza Miiller, participant in the researches made by the "Delta Dungrii" vessel in the Libyan waters in Emphasis should be laid on the remarkable importance and rarity of the Brazilian materials donated by Prof. dr. Paulo E. Vanzolini and also of the Titicaca toad donated by Cdt. Jacques-Yves Cousteau as well as of the Sea Snakes from the Indian Ocean.
2 632 MIRCEA ANDREI Now the whole material is preserved in formalin except the Cuban Boa, the Sea Turtles and the Crocodiles which were naturalized in our Taxidermy Department. The new material is formed of the 79 specimens belonging to 46 species, 44 genera from 16 families. 20 specimens belonging to 7 species from 4 families were determined by us. Among these exhibits, mention should be made that a number of 35 species have never been contained by the herpetological collection of our musem (marked with *). The last materials come to complete and enrich our scientific collections.
