10 Project Questions (6 pts) What is the ideal goal weight of your project animal? Explain why the goal weight is important and what action(s) you took to accomplish that goal. List all feeds used and % of protein and length of time fed. Why would a person feed a higher % protein feed to a younger animal? What qualities in a market livestock animal will demonstrate value to a potential buyer? What is biosecurity and why should you be concerned about it? Gestation Period Optimal number of days from birth to market What part of caring for this animal did you find the most challenging? What did you enjoy the most? 10

11 Project Story (10pts) Write a story about your Livestock Project, including this year's most significant experience. It must be a minimum of 2 pages. Any of the following outline may be used as a guide. (The outline is just a suggestion) SAMPLE STORY OUTLINE I. Introduction a. Tell what type, breed, weight, etc., of animal you are exhibiting, and why you chose this animal as your project. b. In choosing your market animal, did you conduct any research, if so, explain. II. Body a. Were there things you wish you had known prior to this project, if so, what were they? b. Day-to-Day Care: briefly describe what your daily care consisted of feeding routine, exercise, etc. including some of the Good Production Practices you used in raising your animal. c. What was your most significant experience? What did you learn about yourself and/or your animal? Was there anything that surprised you about this project? III. Summary a. What would you change or do the same the next time you begin a livestock project? For example: different feed, different breed, age of animal you would start with, etc. Species Specific 11

List four things you should do in the show ring and two things that you should never do. Name the breed of dairy goat that originated in the United States and list three facts about that breed. List the compartments of the digestive system and what the purpose is for each one. What it the major cause of death in club goats and how can it be prevented?
