3 CCJLS 2018 GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS NOTICE: All exhibitors are cautioned to read carefully the following rules and regulations as same will be strictly enforced without any deviation of any kind. The Caldwell County Junior Livestock Show Committee and Caldwell County Fair Association directors reserve to officers and superintendents the final absolute right to interpret these rules and regulations and arbitrarily settle and determine all matters, questions and differences in regard thereto or otherwise arising out of, about or incident to the show. Any person or exhibitor who violates any of the general or special rules as published will forfeit all privileges, prizes or premiums won and could possibly be suspended from exhibiting in future shows THE COMMITTEE HAS ADOPTED THE FOLLOWING RULES AND REGULATIONS: ELIGIBILITY: 1. Exhibitors and helpers (current eligible exhibitors) must be members in good standing of a FFA Chapter or 4-H Club in Caldwell County, and have attended at least 5 of their regular scheduled 4-H or FFA club meetings (September 1 through May 31) within the current stock show calendar year (from end of last stock show to start of present show) and sign the official attendance sheet. New members to Caldwell County 4-H or FFA must attend at least 3 of these said meetings and have signed the official attendance sheet. The 2 summer meetings held by the 4-H and FFA Advisors may count towards club meetings. Exhibitor must be enrolled in a public school in Caldwell County or reside in Caldwell County. FFA/4-H advisors shall provide the directors verification of this rule in writing before the show. 2. Market entries shall be bona fide property of the exhibitor cared for and tended to by the exhibitor within the boundaries of the Caldwell County School Districts, Caldwell County or transfer students into Caldwell County School Districts from a county contiguous to Caldwell County. 3. Exhibitors deemed by their school system, 4-H or FFA Advisors to be ineligible will not be allowed to participate in the show nor may their project/projects participate in the show. The eligibility form will be required on orientation/validation day and must be signed by each exhibitor and parent. DATES: 1. See schedule. 2. Entry fees and COMPLETED entry forms for ALL animal projects (market and breeding) must be submitted to the designated stock show officials on validation at the designated location, day and time. Market animals (steers, hogs, lambs, goats and rabbits) must be presented at this time for official tagging unless previously tagged for major shows. All major show tags and wing bands must be verified. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE. 3. The show will open Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 4:00 pm, unless postponed by the Committee, which it hereby claims the right to do, either in part or whole, from any cause whatsoever, for the general good of all concerned. 4. Market animals being auctioned must remain in barns until after the auction. Any animal, market or breeding, left after designated time, becomes the property of the CCFA and will be disposed of as deemed proper. FEES: 1. There will be a $25.00 fee for each and every entry (Market and Breeding). 2. Ear tags are $5.00 each payable at validation day. Should any validated animal lose the tag or tattoo, the exhibitor must notify an officer of the CCFA or advisor immediately to retag the animal. PROTESTS: Protests must be presented in writing to the Division Superintendent of the class in which the animal or exhibitor is entered no later than one (1) hour after that Division is judged. A $ deposit in cash must accompany the written protest. The deposit shall be forfeited if protest is found invalid. Protest concerning the drug rule will require an additional deposit to pay for the drug test (+ or - $450). The protest committee may consist of the current officers, division superintendents and/or the Directors of the Caldwell County Fair Association with at least 5 present. (This meeting is closed.) SHOWMANSHIP: 1. Each exhibitor in Market, Breeding and Project Fair may be classified into either a Junior or Senior Age Division. 2. All exhibitors must be wearing their showmanship number before entering the show ring. 3. All eligible exhibitors/helpers will be eligible for participation and awards in all divisions they participate. HEALTH: 1. The showing of any animal that has been administered any quantity of diuretic, unapproved growth stimulant or other unapproved medication, or that has not been properly withdrawn from approved drugs is prohibited. Unapproved is deemed to mean not approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and/or the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for slaughter animals. As a condition for participation in the Show, every exhibitor must agree to submit any animal entered by exhibitor to inspection by a veterinarian appointed by the management, and agrees to have such animal submitted to any tests as may be designated and requested by a licensed veterinarian. An exhibitor of an animal producing an analysis with a quantity of diuretic, unapproved growth stimulant or any other unapproved medicine(s) will forfeit all rights and privileges to exhibit livestock in the future at the show. 2. All exhibitors and animals must comply with all Federal and State regulations.

4 3. Dead animals must be removed immediately by the exhibitor and disposed of properly according to State and Federal regulations. If an animal dies after checking in but prior to the exhibit entering the ring, the exhibit is disqualified. If an animal dies in the ring, it must be removed by the exhibitor as soon as judging is completed and disposed of properly according to State and federal regulations. Any expenses incurred will be paid by the exhibitor. 4. Exhibitors must provide proper care for their animals according to stock show standards. All animals must be free of parasites, in good health and a credit to the show. GENERAL: 1. Exhibitors are eligible to enter any or all divisions of the show. However, an exhibitor may only exhibit market animals in one show in Caldwell County per calendar year. 2. Exhibitors are REQUIRED to be with their entries during validation, weigh-in, judging and sale or notify in writing with reason, a CCFA official for approval of change AND PERMISSION. 3. No project may be entered if purchased after validation date or if deemed unsuitable by the Division Superintendent. 4. The official scales may be digital. Official scales will not be available. 5. When an exhibitor presents his/her exhibit for check in before the deadline, that exhibit, tag, tattoo, wing band and/or weight will be recorded for that exhibitor and become official. No other animal can be substituted or changed to another exhibitor. a. All market animals will be allowed one official weigh-in before deadline. b. A 1% weight tolerance will be allowed. c. If official weight is over/under 1% tolerance, 1 additional weigh-in will be allowed before weigh-in deadline. 6. The CCFA President, General Superintendent, Division Superintendents and/or assistants involved may break all classes and have the right to combine classes if necessary. Market classes must have a minimum of 4 entries. The bottom 15% rounded is NOT eligible to move up and may not sell. 7. No animals may be boarded prior to the date of the show without permission of the General Superintendent or President. 8. All Divisions must have four or more different exhibitors or may be cancelled at the discretion of the CCFA Board. 9. Breeding Animal: See Breeding Division General Rules. 10. Pens will be assigned and exhibitors may not move animals unless approved by the office first. 11. Bedding may be used in all pens. Pens will be assigned and exhibitor will be responsible for its clean up, any spillage to adjacent pens and removal to the proper DESIGNATED AREA (NOT TRASH CANS). A $ penalty per pen will be assessed and deducted from exhibitor's check for not doing so before Midnight after the sale. 12. Any exhibitor who either directly or indirectly, in person or through his parent or guardian, agent or servant, interferes with, coerces, or shows disrespect for (or attempts to do any such acts) shall be guilty of a violation of these rules and shall be grounds for removal of exhibitor and their project. The show is dedicated to the promotion of high standards of competition, sportsmanship, ethics and/or fair play. Each Exhibitor is expected to strictly follow these rules and conduct himself or herself in a manner that will reflect respect upon the Exhibitor, his/her school, organization and parent. Any Exhibitor or member of his/her family who violates any of these rules may be barred from any other participation in the show and will be subject to such penalties, as the CCFA Board shall deem appropriate. 13. Each exhibitor agrees to abide by all instructions and directions from Show Officials with respect to their personal conduct and the care, control and conduct of their exhibit. The Show will not be responsible for any loss, injury or damage suffered by the Exhibitor or any third party arising out of or connected with the Exhibitor s conduct or the care, control or conduct of his or her exhibit. In consideration of the privileges afforded to his/her child or ward by the Show, each Exhibitor s parent /guardian agrees to be solely responsible for any property damage or personal injury sustained by such Exhibitor or any third person on account of or in any way arising out of such Exhibitor s participation in the Show. Each such parent or guardian, in allowing his/her child or ward to participate in the Show, agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Show, Caldwell County Fair Association and Caldwell County against all claims, demands, suits, causes of action, costs, or expenses, including attorney s fees arising out of or in any way connected with such child s or ward s participation in the Show.

5 MARKET DIVISIONS BROILER DIVISION 1. Each exhibitor may have only two market entries. 2 Pens or 2 individual broilers or a combination of 1 each. 2. A pen class shall consist of three (3) broilers. 3. Individual class is a single broiler. Classes maybe separate 4. Grand and Reserve will be chosen from the pen class ONLY. 5. The Stock Show Committee and advisors will buy all wing-banded broilers from the same hatchery on the same day in increments of 25. Exhibitor must pay for ordered broilers at time of order. 6. All broilers must be properly groomed, free of parasites and a credit to the show (no broken wings or bruising). TURKEY DIVISION 1. Each exhibitor may enter two (2) turkeys. 2. All wing-banded turkeys will be ordered from the same hatchery on the same day in increments of 25. Exhibitor must pay for ordered turkeys at time of order. 3. All turkeys must be properly groomed, free of parasites and a credit to the show (no broken wings or bruising). MARKET LAMB DIVISION 1. Each exhibitor may enter two (2) lambs. Wether lambs and ewe lambs may be shown. 2. Classes may be divided into hair and wool. 3. Lambs must weigh a minimum of 90 pounds at the official weigh-in at the show. 4. All lambs will be slick shorn to the skin from the hocks up at the time of showing. 5. All lambs must be properly groomed, free of parasites and a credit to the show. GOAT DIVISION 1. Each exhibitor may enter two (2) goats. 2. Wether goats or does may be shown. 3. Goats must weight a minimum of 60 pounds & a maximum of 120 pounds at the official weigh-in at the show. 4. Exhibitors are required to have all goats dehorned or to have horns tipped before arrival at the show. 5. They must be slick shorn with no indication of blocking from the hocks up (excluding tail) at time of showing. 6. Exhibitors will be allowed to use halters or collars in the show ring. 7. All goats must be properly groomed, free of parasites and a credit to the show. MARKET RABBIT DIVISION 1. Each exhibitor may have only two (2) market entries. 2 pens or 2 single fryer or a combination of 1 each. 2. A pen class shall consist of three (3) rabbits, either sex, and of the same breed, 3. Single fryer class consists of only one rabbit. 4. Rabbits must be not over 70 days old and each weighing not less than three (3) nor more than five and a half (5-1/2) pounds. 5. Grand and Reserve will be chosen from the pen class only. 6. All rabbits must be properly groomed, free of parasites and a credit to the show. MARKET HOG DIVISION 1. Each exhibitor may enter (2) hogs. 2. Barrows and gilts may be shown. 3. All hogs must weigh a minimum of 220 pounds and a maximum of 280 pounds at the official weigh-in at show. 4. All hogs must be properly groomed, free of parasites and a credit to the show. STEER DIVISION 1. Each exhibitor may enter two (2) steers. 2. All steers shall be slick shorn with no more than ¼ of hair except the lower tail and switch (tail switch being no more than 10 above the end of the cartilage of the tail) at time of showing. 3. Steers must weigh a minimum of 900 pounds at the official weigh-in at the show. 4. All steers must be halter broken, manageable, and free of parasites and a credit to the show.

6 BREEDING DIVISION - GENERAL RULES 1. See schedule for dates and times. 2. Breeding Division exhibitors must comply with the General Junior Livestock Rules and Regulations. 3. Each exhibitor may enter any number of animals. Validation not required. Registration and $25.00 fee per entry is required. 4. Grand and Reserve may be the same exhibitor. 5. Breeding projects may be registered or commercial. Exhibitors must have possession of and the animal must be in the care of the exhibitor by validation. 6. Nursing offspring may be brought into the show ring with the mother. 7. All breeding projects must remain in barns until Saturday, of the show at 2:00 pm and removed by Midnight 8. Market animals may also be shown in the Breeding division. 2. The following classes may be offered: A. Doe B. Buck BREEDING RABBIT DIVISION BREEDING SHEEP DIVISION 2. The following classes may be offered: A. Ewe lambs B. Two tooth ewes, ewes showing any evidence of first two (2) permanent teeth will be considered two tooth. BREEDING GOAT DIVISION 2. The following classes may be offered: A. Doe kids, not evidence of permanent teeth. B. Two tooth does, does showing any evidence of first two (2) permanent teeth will be considered two tooth. C. Four tooth and older. BREEDING GILT DIVISION 2. GILTS may be assigned to classes by the show officials. BREEDING BEEF DIVISION 2. HEIFERS may be assigned to classes by the show officials. SHORT-TERM RABBIT PROJECT Exhibitors - K, 1, and 2 grades 1. Participants buy market rabbits or raise their own. Must be a live animal. 2. Each exhibitor may enter only one pen. This will be a carrying cage show. 3. A pen shall consist of one rabbit (either sex). 4. All rabbits must be properly groomed, free of parasites and a credit to the show. 5. Check-in is from 5:30 to 6:00 pm and show will not start before 6:00 pm, Friday, of the show. 6. Entry fee is $15.00 AND RABBITS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR STOCK SHOW SALE. 7. Participation ribbons will be awarded as no competition is involved. 8. Registration (mandatory) will be Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 11:00 to 12:00 pm at the county show barn. Entry form and Fees will be paid at that time.

7 CALDWELL COUNTY PET SHOW 1. Exhibitors may be anyone under 9 years of age and not a 4-H or FFA member. 2. No registration fee is required and registration is at time of show. 3. Each exhibitor may enter in any or all categories using a different pet. The exhibitor or member of the immediate family must own pets. 4. For safety reasons, all pets must be on leash, caged or under the control of the exhibitor at all times. They shall not go into show animal areas. At the discretion of the Pet Show Superintendent, pets may be removed from the show if they pose a danger to exhibitors or other pets. They should be clean, well groomed, in good health and free of parasites. All pets are to remain inside auction barn until their show and must be removed from premises immediately after the show. 5. Participation ribbons will be awarded in each category. 6. Divisions are: a. Best dressed pet b. Most unique pet c. Friendliest pet d. Prettiest pet 7. Pet show exhibitors will meet not before 2:00 pm, Saturday of the show. 8. Superintendents have the right to combine classes if necessary. LITTLE WRANGLER HAY HAULING 1. This is for a team of youth ages 3 (three) to 5 (five). 2. A team consists of two children. 3. Each child must complete an entry form before the event in order to participate. 4. One child pulls the wagon while the other child runs next to the wagon on a designated course and picks up small bales of hay and event is timed. 5. Trophies will be awarded to 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd place winners. 6. The event will start on Friday afternoon after the Short-term Rabbits show. JUNIOR LIVESTOCK MARKET AUCTION 1. Champions will sell first. 2. No animal in the sale will be allowed to sell for more than the Grand or Reserve Champion in its division. Once a project is sold, there will be no additional money added to the original price. 3. An 8% commission will be charged on all sale animals. 4. Each exhibitor may sell only one project with the exception of any combination of Grand and/or Reserve Champions. All Grand and Reserve Champions will sell. Any exhibitor showing more than one animal in a division understands that if both exhibits in that division are brought back for judging of Grand and Reserve and one of their exhibits is selected as Grand the other exhibit must leave the arena and is not eligible for Reserve. 5. To receive their checks, exhibitors must bring their neatly addressed (including return address), UNSEALED and stamped Thank You Letters turned in to the Caldwell County Extension Office. If HANDWRITTEN thank you is not written by March 29, 2018, and turned into the appropriate office before 5:00 PM, $ will be deducted from the exhibitor s check. If thank you is not written and turned in by April 6, 2018, exhibitor forfeits money, no check will be issued and money may be offered back to the buyer. The Stock Show Committee will be responsible for ordering buyers' pictures and frames. Cost will be deducted from exhibitors' money. Exhibitors shall deliver buyers' pictures and secure the buyer s signature on the Photograph Release Form. This form must be turned in on the day checks are issued. Exhibitors or their delegate will pick up their Buyer(s) addresses and photos on designated dates only. Check must be picked up by Exhibitor or parent/guardian (listed on entry form) on designated date only. No other arrangements will be made.

8 Caldwell County Youth Project Fair 1. The Caldwell County Youth Project Fair is open to current members of 4-H Clubs, FCCLA, and FFA Chapters of Caldwell County. They must meet General Rule No Project fair entry date. Turn in the completed entry form, eligibility form and $10.00 for each item entered on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Country show barn. No exceptions. 3. All entries will be checked in at the county Show Barn Friday, of the show between 8:00 and 10:00am. 4. Judging of the Project Fair entries will be Friday, of the show starting at 10:00am. Public and exhibitors will not be allowed in judging area during judging. Exhibit area will be open to the public from 1:00 to 7:00pm. 5. Ribbons will be placed on entries as determined by the judges and will remain on judged items until items are picked up. Ribbons will be awarded on merit of the item. Failure to follow rules will result in automatic Participation ribbon and CAN NOT BE AUCTIONED. 6. All entries are for INDIVIDUALS only except for category IX which may be teams. (category IX will not be judged or auctioned) 7. The Division categories are: I Arts paintings, drawings II Crafts A Original B kits III Woodwork IV Photography (must be 8x10 and placed inside a plastic sheet protector) No frames will be allowed during judging or display at project fair. V Foods A Breads B. Cakes/Pies C. Cookies/Candy Food entries may be divided into categories by the project fair superintendents, as above (A, B, C). All food items should be on sturdy disposable containers (no decorative, ceramic, or glass containers or plates allowed) and covered with plastic wrap. Please provide a sample of entry on a disposable plate in a Ziploc bag for judges to taste. No refrigeration will be provided; therefore, exhibits requiring refrigeration will not be judged. The recipe must be submitted on an 3-1/2 x 5 index card at check in, and cannot have participant s name on it. VI Food Preservation A Dried Foods B Home canning Home canning entries must be presented in either pint or quart size traditional standard type canning jars. These jars will not be opened for tasting. VII Clothing and Textiles A Sewing B Knitting C Crocheting Clothing and Textile entries may be divided into categories by the project fair superintendents, as above (A, B, C). VIII Metal Works (individual only) IX Youth Individual or Team Educational Exhibit (Will not be judged and cannot be auctioned) 8. Entries with any identification (as name, initial, or picture) will not be judged and cannot be auctioned. 9. There will be no livestock or live animal entries in the Project Fair. 10. All entries must be made or completed since the previous year s Project Fair. 11. Entries will be divided into Junior (Grades 3-8) and Senior (Grades 9-12). All exhibitors are subject to UIL no pass/no play regulations. 12. Clover kids (must be enrolled online through 4-H Connect) will register on-site, will receive participation ribbons and are not eligible for the auction. 13 Entry that receives participation ribbon, Clover kid entries and Division category IX- Youth Individual or Team Educational Exhibit ARE NOT eligible for auction.

9 14. All items not sold must be picked up BY THE EXHIBITOR between 7:00pm and 8:00pm Friday, of the show. No provisions are made for entries after that time. Exhibitors removing items earlier must obtain permission from a project fair superintendent first. 15. Proper precautions will be taken to protect all entries, but the Project Fair Committee/Stock Show committee will not be liable for damages or loss. The committee reserves the right to protect the entries by asking anyone to leave the area that behaves in a manner which places any entry in danger of being damaged. 16. A silent auction of the judged entries will be held for divisions I-VIII. The minimum bid will be $ Auction may start at 1:00pm (if judging is complete) and will close at 7:00pm on Friday, of the show. Items must be picked up and paid from 7pm to 8pm. Project fair closes at 8pm Friday. 18. Photos for Grand and Reserve Champions exhibitors will be made at 5:30pm during the Livestock Show Sale Saturday evening. Winners should be present. 19. There will be an 8% commission on all sales. 20. Addresses for the thank you notes are to be picked up on the designated date and time and at the designated place. No other arrangements will be made. Thank you notes must be turned in by March 29, 2018 before 5:00pm to Extension office or check is forfeited.
