Guests are Welcome! Directions from I-279: Take exit 12 toward US 19/Perrysville Ave. At Perrysville Avenue, turn left. Go approximately.8 mile and turn left onto Bellevue Road (Sunoco Station on corner). Go approximately.5 mile and turn right to stay on Bellevue Road. End at 301 Bellevue Road. GREATER Entrance to PITTSBURGH complex is one way. Sign will direct you to building. Yellow brick building behind large red brick building is the meeting place. There is an open parking lot or 2 deck parking garage available.
2 GOLDEN RETRIEVER CLUB (GPGRC) Member club of the Golden retriever Club of America, Inc. (GRCA) Licensed by the American Kennel Club for AKC shows and obedience, rally and agility trials and hunting tests General meeting is held the third Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m. Membership applications are available from the Membership Chairperson. Attendance at two club functions (one being a general meeting) and endorsement of two club members is required before an application can be accepted. Dues are: Regular Membership (individual) - $24.00, a second adult an additional $ Associate Membership (individual) - $12.00, a second adult an additional $7.00. Junior Membership - $1.00. Completed applications and dues are to be submitted to the Membership Chairperson. Newsletter is posted monthly on the club s website at Club members may request printed, mailed copies of the Golden Gait for a fee of $20 per year. Litter advertisements are accepted from club members only and other advertising on a space available basis. (Fees are full page - $10; half page - $5; quarter page - $2.50.) Refer to puppy referral ( below) for required clearances. Puppy referral is a service provided to GPGRC members only. (1) Both sire and dam must be two years of age or older at the time of breeding; (2) copies of eye clearances within one year of breeding must be supplied; and (3) an OFA numbers for hips and elbows must be submitted. Also hearts must be evaluated by an approved veterinary cardiologist. Acceptance and use of the information provided by GPGRC constitutes an acknowledgment that the user hereby releases and indemnifies the GPGRC and its officers, directors, members and agents from any and all liability and damages sustained by the user as a result of any information obtained from this organization. Activity cards should be filled out and sent to the Accomplishments Recorder for all conformation, obedience, tracking, agility, rally, field events or community service events before they can be reported in the newsletter. Golden Retriever Club of America (GRCA) All golden lovers are encouraged to join our parent club, GRCA. The Golden Retriever News is published by-monthly by the GRCA and contains educational articles, provides a forum for issues of interest to golden owners, highlights golden accomplishments and contains correspondent columns from the member clubs across the country. She attended our Specialty in June as well as the October General Meeting. Roseanna has a 5 month old golden named Bonny and a 5 year old Pembroke Corgi she calls Captain Morgan. Roseanna is interested in Obedience, Tracking, Agility, and Therapy We will vote on her request for membership at the February General Meeting. PET THERAPY For the Sisters and Residents It has been the tradition of GPGRC members to make monthly visits to the sisters and residents at the convent of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. This is to help show our appreciation to them for leasing to our club the meeting facilities we have. If you would like to join our small group to visit, all members and dogs are welcomed. Your dog does not need to be a registered therapy dog. However, for insurance purposes, you will need to provide proof of current vaccinations. Our visits are on the first Monday of each month, from 1-2 p.m. You will not need to commit to visit every month just whenever you want. Please call Anne Pittman ( ) or Sue Francis ( ) to schedule your visit. Please think about joining this small group. I can promise you will spend an hour with some very special people who will love your dog. It s a great way to show off your dog! WANTED: Pet Therapy Dogs If you want to get involved in some rewarding volunteer work and you have a dog registered with a therapy dog organization, there are some opportunities for you. Below are several facilities looking for some help. If you are interested, please contact the facility directly. Heritage Place 5701 Phillips Avenue Contact: Christa M. 4 PRESIDENT S REPORT The annual Pheasant Social was a huge success. There were a total of 32 people and 23 dogs. Sandy and John Wall put out a lot of effort to make this one of the best socials for your Club. I know that everyone expressed their thanks to them. I also would like to thank the cooks and the kitchen help, the gunners, the bird planters, and the photographers. After talking to Sandy, she is already planning next year s event. That s what I call on the ball. Thanks again Sandy and John for a fantastic day. Your Christmas Party at the Osheka s is coming up very soon. If you haven t contacted them yet, please do so. Time is running out. There is information in the newsletter about time and directions. Melissa Jarvis has decided to put the Grooming Seminar on the back burner until next year. She will let us know as things progress. Your Club has sent a donation of $250. to the GRCA Zeke Cancer Fund. Each year a certain amount is donated to a charitable fund to help dogs. Your Board has decided to eliminate the Outstanding Member of the Year award. This award is listed in the Award Guidelines. The dues will be raised $1.00 for the upcoming year. Junior membership will remain the same. Note on the back of your renewal sheet you will find a questionnaire to fill out. Please give this some thought so we will know how you feel about helping out in different venues. Mark your calendars for the Awards Banquet on March 3 rd at Carmody s. It is the same place we had it last year and everyone really enjoyed themselves. You won t want to miss John Schurman s slide show. Don t forget to send him your favorite photos of your dogs. There are several positions available. Many of the people who have asked to resign have been doing their job for the club for many years and simply just need a break. If you value the events sponsored by our club and want to do your fair share to make sure they continue, please volunteer. You need not worry about not having experience. The individuals vacating the positions will be most happy to share their knowledge and experience with you. If you are unsure please check the website for the master list. here is a lot of work required to get all the certificates and plaques together before the banquet.

8 DIRECTIONS TO CHRISTMAS PARTY Vicki and John Osheka 1908 Aspen Court Conway, PA Coming from Route 65 (Ohio River Blvd.) Going North Stay on Route 65, straight shot...you will go through Sewickley, Leetsdale, Ambridge, Baden When you see a sign for Northern Lights Shopping Center (on your right by an ESB Bank), you will be making the next right hand turn (11th St) by an Exxon Station and Rite Aid. Go up the hill, which will bear to the left making an "S" turn...when you pass the Citgo Station on your left, slow down, you will be making the next left hand turn onto Sampson. Go four short blocks, it will take you pass ball fields on the left and then into our plan "Birchwood Falls". Go into the plan and approximately 1/4 of a block you will see a sign for Aspen Court. Make a right, we are the second home on the left hand side. (Ranch Home) From Pittsburgh Coming from downtown Pittsburgh, drive over the Veteran's Bridge (Rt 579) heading onto 279 North. Stay on 279 which will merge onto 79 North. Go to the 3rd exit, Cranberry Twp (exit will be on the left lane). The exit will bring you onto Route 19 North. Stay in the left lane, you will go through 3 lights. At the 4th light, you will see an Exxon on your left as well as an AT & T store with signs saying Freedom Road. You will make a left there. Continue following directions below. Coming from Butler (North) You can come down Route 79 to Cranberry exit. Make a right at the exit and continue to bear to the right once off the exit, crossover Route 19, this will turn into Freedom Road. Continue following directions below. Turnpike directions Whether you are coming from Ohio or from Pittsburgh direction, you will be getting off the Cranberry Twp/Warrendale Exit...Once off the exit, at the light turn left onto (Route 19 North). This will take you into downtown Cranberry. You will pass a Giant Eagle on your left. At the second light, make the left onto Freedom Road. The exit will bring you onto Route 19 North. Stay in the left lane, you will go through 3 lights. At the 4th light, you will see an Exxon on your left as well as an AT & T store with signs saying Freedom Road. You will make a left there.
9 DIRECTIONS CONTINUED: Continue to drive on Freedom Road for approximately 6 miles. You will be traveling out of Cranberry into New Sewickley (Beaver County). Some of the sights you will see are "George Moving & Storage" on your left, then the intersection of Lovi Road. Continue straight through the intersection. You will pass on your left Tri County Soccer Indoor Field, about 1/2 mile from there, you will reach the intersection of 989, make a left up the hill. (sign will say Ambridge turn left) At the top of the hill is Conway Walrose Road, make a right turn. 2 Miles from there you will see a small sign saying "Welcome to Conway", slow down because you will be making a right hand turn at the second road, "Sampson Road". (If you miss the turn you will see a Citgo Station, turn around and go back 1/2 block and make a left onto Sampson) Go four short blocks, it will take you pass ball fields on the left and then into our plan "Birchwood Falls".
