3 PARKING DAY OF SHOW PARKING (THURSDAY TO MONDAY) Parking is payable to Fairplex upon arrival. Do not mail ahead of time. Gates open 6:00 AM. Parking is $10.00, motor homes will cost more. Any damage caused to any power that is supplied by Event Power Solutions or the Pomona Fairgrounds equipment, is the sole responsibility of the person whose vehicle caused that damage while plugged into that power. These damages must be paid for at the time of the damage. All parking will be on asphalt. Bring appropriate ground cover. Plastic must be under saw dust and plastic wrapped up sides of x-pens to prevent saw dust from blowing into other set-ups, and MUST be cleaned up at departure. Each parking space is for one vehicle only. (Trailer and tow vehicle are considered as one vehicle.) You may purchase a Tag Vehicle permit for $5.00 per night. All vehicles MUST be parked inside the lines of your assigned space. If you wish to park together you MUST send your reservation forms in one envelope. No separate requests. Your area must be left clean when leaving Fairplex. NO washing of mats or dog equipment. Any vehicles parked illegally (aisles, fire lanes, no parking areas) will be towed at the owner s expense. Any arguing or abusive language to members of the parking crew and you will forfeit all parking privileges for the rest of the circuit. There will be no refunds, and the matter will be referred to the Bench Show Committee. There is a waste-dump station located by the bathroom in the picnic hill area. No discharging of grey water or sewage in undesignated areas. No electrical cords can run across any roadways or fire lanes. Handicap parking may not be close to the rings but will have easy ring accessibility. You need to send a copy of your handicapped license with your name on it. (No copies of placards will be accepted.) If your check is returned and not cleared up within a three-month period, you may be denied future entries and parking. $25.00 returned check fee Reservations close when entries close. 4 Challenge Trophies The following trophies are offered by various donors through the Cocker Spaniel Club of Orange County for competition at its Specialty Shows only. For permanent possession these trophies must be won three times by the same owner, not necessarily consecutively and not necessarily with the same dog or bitch. FRANDEE S MARQUIS TROPHY (Silver Plate Tea Set) for Best Black Cocker Spaniel. First offered at the Spring 1984 Specialty Show. Lisa Pino of Crazy Q Cockers offers the GCH CRAZY Q S N WINELIGHT SOULFUL SENSATION TROPHY (Ceramic Figure) for Best ASCOB Cocker Spaniel. First offered at the May 2018 Specialty Show. The Cocker Spaniel Club of Orange County offers the DEE DEE WOOD MEMORIAL TROPHY (Ceramic Sculpture by artist Eileen Weston for Best of Breed). For permanent possession, this trophy must be won three times by the same owner(s), not necessarily with the same dog or bitch. First offered at the Summer 1993 Specialty Show. Trophy to remain in the possession of the club. A Ceramic Cocker Spaniel on Wood to commemorate the win will be offered at each show. Puppy Sweepstakes Rules To stimulate interest in showing promising purebred Cocker Spaniel Puppies, a Puppy Sweepstakes shall be held in conjunction with and as a special class at the Cocker Spaniel Club of Orange County Specialty Show (or support show) in the summer and the winter. The Puppy Sweepstakes is not limited to members of the club, but is open to all Cocker Spaniel exhibitors. All Puppies entered in the Puppy Sweepstakes must be entered in the Regular Classes of the Specialty Show. The entry fee for each puppy entered in the Puppy Sweepstakes must accompany the regular class entry and stated additional entry. Puppies shall in judged in the following classes and be divided by Sex and Variety 6 to 9 months and 9 to12 months The club will retain 25% of the entry fee to defray expenses, the balance will be divided as followed: 25% Best Puppy in Sweepstakes 15% Best Opposite Sex to Best Puppy in Sweepstakes 15% Best Puppy in Each Variety 5% Best Opposite Sex in Each Variety If any prize monies are not awarded for any reason, they shall revert to the club. Veteran Sweepstakes Rules To stimulate interest in purebred Cocker Spaniels, a Veteran Sweepstakes shall be held in conjunction with and as a special class at the Cocker Spaniel Club of Orange County Specialty Show (or support show) in the summer and the winter. The Veteran Sweepstakes is not limited to members of the club, but is open to all Cocker Spaniel exhibitors. All Veterans entered in the Veteran Sweepstakes must be entered in the Regular Classes of the Specialty Show. Entries Not On Official AKC Entry Forms and Photocopies of Entry Forms without Agreement and Rules on the reverse side of the Official AKC Entry Form are NOT ACCEPTABLE. For Hand Delivery: Paradise Mtn Rd., Valley Center, CA ALL CREDIT CARD, FAX & ON-LINE ENTRIES: FAX entry with Credit Card number and expiration date to: (760) Your credit card statement will list ALIBI ACRES as the vendor. There is a $4.00 per entry fee charge for credit card payments. FAX entries that are received incomplete or unable to read will not be accepted. CANADIAN exhibitors must make fees payable in U.S. FUNDS. Please mail checks or money orders with entries. Secretary assumes no responsibility for cash sent through the mail. Tabulate carefully. Due to cost of processing no refunds of $5.00 and under will be made. There is a $4.00 fee for any ent ry cancellations. A Recording Fee of.50 cents and a Service Fee of $3.00, $3.00 Rally Fee will be required for each dog entered at any Licensed or Member Club Show, Obedience Trial, Rally Trial or Tracking Test. These Fees are to be collected by the Showgiving Club and paid to the American Kennel Club. If a dog is entered in more than one class in the show, the Fees are to be collected on the first entry only. (American Kennel Club Rule, Chapter 11, Section 2). No Entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies any conditions as to its acceptance. Entry Fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of Event Committee. If because of riots, civil disturbances or other acts beyond the control of the management it is impossible to open or to complete the show, no refund of entry fee will be made. Extreme weather conditions, such as, but not limited to snow storms, hurricanes, lightning, extreme heat, must be considered for the health and safety of the dogs, exhibitors and spectators. The well-being of dogs, exhibitors and spectators is of paramount importance and, in the event it is necessary to cancel or stop the show before completion, no refund of entry fee will be made. Post Dated Checks, Returned Checks and Declined Credit Cards, do not constitute a valid entry fee. The Secretaries will add a $25.00 collection fee to the amount of each returned check. The returned check or declined credit card MUST BE MADE GOOD by cash or money order BEFORE the dog will be allowed in the ring. No Refund for Duplicate Entries. This club and it s Secretary assume no responsibility for the owner or owner s agents entering a dog in a class in which the dog is not eligible to compete, or for entering the same dog twice. Errors on Entry Blanks. Owners are responsible for errors in making out entry forms, whoever may make such errors, and no entry fee will be refunded in event of such errors or cancellation of entries after the published closing date. During the hours of judging owners are to be on call, and have their dogs ready for judging. In order that the judging will not be delayed. Dogs need only be present for their judging. Dogs not needed for further judging may be excused. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to have his dog ready to be shown and at the entrance of the judging ring when the steward ca lls for the class. Owners of dogs or the handlers of the dogs alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging rings. It is not the responsibility of the ring steward, nor of any agent of the show giving club to locate any dog, its owner or hander, when the dogs presence is needed in the judging ring. It should be understood by every exhibitor and handler to bring his dog into the ring. The club, its secretaries or their employees will not be responsible for the loss of or damage to any dog exhibited, whether the result of accident or other causes and in addition assumes no responsibility for any loss, damage, or injury sustained by an exhibitor or handler. It is distinctly understood that every dog at this show is in the care and custody and control of his owner or handler during the entire time the dog is on the show grounds. Cash Prizes will be paid in the ring to the person showing the dog. Claims for prize money must be made in the ring before the judging of that breed is over, and the Secretaries Office advised at once. The Secretaries and show-giving Club disclaim any liability for cash prizes after the judging of the breed is over. Trophies and Prizes will be awarded in the judging ring before the completion of judging, any discrepancies must be reported to the Secretary prior to completion of judging. All trophies must be claimed the day of the show. None will be mailed. Dogs which according to their owners records have completed the requirements for a championship after the closing of entries for the show but whose championships are unconfirmed, may be transferred from one of the regular classes to the Best of Breed or Variety Competition, provided this transfer is made by the Secretary at least one half hour prior to the start of the earliest Conformation judging at the Show. Junior Handlers who win a third Novice Class after the closing of entries may transfer their entry from the Novice Class to the Open Class provided that this transfer is made by the Secretary at least one half hour prior to the scheduled start of the earliest Conformation judging or one half hour prior to the start of Junior Showmanship judging at the show, whichever is earlier. Please DO NOT LEAVE ANY DOGS IN CLOSED VEHICLES. Do not leave your dogs in unlocked cars. If any dogs are seen to be suffering from extreme temperatures where it is confined without supervision, a California Humane Officer or a Security Officer will be notified to handle the situation. Violators may be reported to the Show Committee for disciplinary action. all persons attending this show hereby waive any claim for damages against the show giving clubs or their members in the event a motor vehicle has to be entered to rescue a dog from overheating or improperly vented conditions. THIS IS A SELF CLEANING SHOW, PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR DOGS. The show giving club, the show secretary their agents or employees assume no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors, handlers, spectators or to their dogs or property. Dogs which according to their owners records have completed the requirements for a championship but whose championships are unconfirmed. The entry and showing of dogs whose championships are unconfirmed is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where a dog completed the requirements for a championship according to the owner s records. If, at the end of the 90 day period, the championship of a dog has not been confirmed by AKC, no further entries of the dog for Best of Breed competition are to be made until its championship has been confirmed by AKC. NON-REGULAR CLASSES, INVOLVING SINGLE DOG ENTRIES Veteran Dogs and Bitches The following classes will be offered for both dogs and bitches 7 years of Age & Over Neutered Dogs and Spayed Bitches may complete in the Veteran Classes only at independent specialties and by virtue of winning the class may complete for Best of Variety. (AKC Dog Show Rules, Chapter 14, Section 8) NON-REGULAR CLASSES, INVOLVING MULTIPLE DOG ENTRIES Stud Dog Class - For dogs that have sired two dogs or bitches entered in this show. The award will be based on the merits of the get. The owner of the stud dog need not be the owner of the get. As the judge's decision in this class will be based on the merits of more than one dog or bitch, no one of the dogs or bitches making up the entry judged first in the class, will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed by virtue of having won this class. The Stud Dog must appear in the ring with his get and be entered in the Stud Dog Class. Brood Bitch Class - For bitches that have whelped two dogs or bitches entered in this show. The award will be based on the merits of the produce. The owner of the brood bitch need not be the owner of the produce. As the judge's decision in this class will be based on the merit of more than one dog or bitch, no one of the dogs or bitches making up the entry judged first in the class will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed by virtue of having won this class. The Brood Bitch must appear in the ring with her produce and be entered in the Brood Bitch Class. Best Bred-By-Exhibitor-First Place from Bred by exhibitor dog & bitch from Each Variety will complete for Best Bred by Exhibitor. All dogs entered in the Bred-By-class must be individually registered by AKC. The person handling the dog must be a breeder of record of the dog and an owner of record of the dog. Family members must be both a breeder of record to exhibitor in the class. Best Stud Dog and Brood Bitch- First place from Stud Dog & Brood Bitch from Each Variety will complete for Best Stud Dog & Best Brood Bitch. Best Brace: First place from Brace from Each Variety will complete for Best Brace. JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP COMPETITION Novice Junior Class: For Boys and Girls who are at least 9 years old and under 12 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three First Place awards with competition present in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. Novice Intermediate Class: For Boys and Girls who are at least 12 years old and under 15 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three First Place awards with competition present in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. Novice Senior Class: For Boys and Girls who are at least 15 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three First Place awards with competition present in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. Open Junior Class: For Boys and Girls who are at least 9 years old and under 12 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three First Place awards with competition present in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. Open Intermediate Class: For Boys and Girls who are at least 12 years old and under 15 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three First Place awards with competition present in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. Open Senior Class: For Boys and Girls who are at least 15 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three First Place awards with competition present in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. Master Class: This class will be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years on the day of the show, and who have won 10 first place wins in an Open class with competition to be eligible to enter the Limited C lass Competition. The calendar for this class will be consistent with the eligibility dates for the AKC Eukanuba National Championship. All juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master Class and may change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed all participants return to the Open Class to complete for the following year. Each dog handled in a Junior Showmanship Class must be entered in one of the Breed or Obedience Classes at the show, or must be entered for Junior Showmanship only. However, a dog may be substituted. Such substitution must be accompanied by an official AKC entry form. All such substitutions must be made one half-hour prior to the judging of any Junior Showmanship Classes at the show. Each dog must be owned or co-owned by the Junior Handler or by the Junior Handler's father, mother, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, grandfather or grandmother, including step and half relations or by a member of the Junior Handler's household. Every dog entered for Junior Showmanship must be eligible to compete in Dog Shows or in Obedience Trials. BITCHES IN SEASON ARE NOT ELIGI- BLE. A dog that has been excused or disqualified by a Breed Judge or by a Bench Show Committee may still be handled in Junior Showmanship if eligible to compete in Obedience Trials. A dog that has been rejected, dismissed, or excused by the Veterinarian for the protection of the other dogs at the show or for the protection of the dog excused may not be handled in Junior Showmanship. Junior Handlers who win a third Novice Class with competition present after the closing of entries for a show may transfer their entry from the Novice Class to the Open Class provided that this transfer is made by the Superintendent at least one half-hour prior to the scheduled start of any regular conformation judging or one half-hour prior to the scheduled start of Junior Showmanship judging at the show, whichever is earlier. Winning of first place in an Open Class at this show may qualify or count toward qualification for entry in certain future limited Junior Showmanship Classes.
