Awards Titling Classes: A green ribbon will be awarded to all dogs receiving a qualifying score. Rosettes will be awarded to qualifying dogs placing 1 st thru 4 th and to those completing titles. A large rosette and a MACH bar will be awarded to any team completing a MACH title. A large rosette & PACH/PAX bar will be awarded to any team completing a PACH/PAX title. All awards must be claimed at the trial; none will be mailed. Directions: Purina Farms is located just 10 minutes West of Six Flags outside of St. Louis on I-44 From the North/East/South, take I-44 to Exit 253 ( Gray Summit Exit); turn east on Hwy 100. After approximately 1/2 mile, turn lift on MM. Entrance to Purina Farms is approximately 1 mile on the left. From the West, take I-70 to Exit 193. Take Hwy 47 south to Hwy 100. Continue on 100 to I-44 east. Take I-44 east one exit to exit 253. Follow directions above Create your own directions & maps starting here: Course Familiarization and Warm-Ups Handlers are permitted to walk the course, without a dog, prior to the start of the class to plan their strategy. The walkthrough is restricted to handlers entered in that class. Walkthroughs will be held prior to the Novice, Open, and Exc/Masters classes. Entry Fees each includes an AKC recording fee $29-first entry, each dog, each day ($3.50 AKC RF) $19-second entry, each dog, same day ($3 AKC RF) Exhibitor Information Exhibitors may wear shirts or insignia of their training group, but not with their or their dogs names. Group banners may be displayed, but shall be placed so that movement of the banners does not distract the dogs on the course. Junior Handlers PLEASE be sure to indicate on the entry form whether a Junior handler will be running the dog, and include their JH number. It is now required to include this in the AKC catalogs, and addition after scoring of a trial has begun is difficult! 2 11

3 Trial Info/Updates at Notice to Exhibitors Safety of the dog is our primary concern. By entering this trial, exhibitors acknowledge that they are familiar with the rules and regulations of this sport, and that their dogs are familiar with and able to perform all obstacles safely. Puppies under 4 months of age are prohibited from the show grounds. All dogs must be on leash or confined except when being judged or when in the designated agility warm-up area. ***Faxed, telegraphed, telephoned, ed, unsigned entries, or entries not on an official AKC Agility entry form (or photocopy) with signed Agreement and Instructions attached cannot be accepted.*** No entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies any conditions as to its acceptance. Express delivery entries must include a signature permitting them to be left at the Trial Secretary s address without the recipient s signature. If no recipient is present to sign receipt, entries may be returned to sender. Entries will be acknowledged after entries close with identification numbers and a judging program. Should such acknowledgement not be received within a reasonable time, please contact the Trial Secretary. Confirmation of acceptance will be made if either an address or a selfaddressed, stamped postcard with checkboxes for each class entered is included with the entry. Owners are responsible for errors made while filling out entry forms, whoever makes such errors. No entry fee will be refunded in the event of such errors or cancellation of entries after the published closing date. Please type or print carefully to minimize errors! Every effort will be made to find all duplicate entries; however, if an entry has been processed, no refund will be made. Make all checks and money orders payable to AEDCA in US funds only. Please mail fees with entries. The Trial Secretary and AEDCA assume no responsibility for cash sent through the mail. Postdated or returned checks do not constitute a valid entry fee. There will be a $20 service charge for returned checks. Entry fees will not be refunded in the event that the dog is absent, disqualified, excused, or barred from competition by action of the show committee. No fees will be refunded if the trial cannot open or be completed in the event of riots, civil disturbances, fire, public emergency, act of a public enemy, or any other cause beyond the control of the organizing committee. Entry fees less $5 per run will be refunded for injured dogs or bitches in season on the day of the trial if veterinary certification is presented no later than 30 minutes before the start of judging. Overpayment of less than $10 per dog per day will not be refunded except at the exhibitor s request. Exhibitors alone are responsible for the behavior of their dogs and/or children. Any exhibitor whose dogs and/or children create unnecessary disturbances or repeatedly engage in unsafe or disruptive behavior may, at the discretion of the Show Committee, be asked to leave the trial site. In such case, no refund of any entry fees will be made. Judges are not required to wait for any dog holding up a class. Handlers are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging ring when it is their turn to run. Dogs may arrive any time prior to their scheduled time of judging. Dogs not required for further judging will be excused. The American Eskimo Dog Club of America, and its agents assume no responsibility for any loss, damage, or injury sustained by exhibitors, handlers, their dogs or property, or their children. 10 Dogs Eligible to Enter This trial is open to all American Eskimo Dogs 15 months of age or older that are registered with the American Kennel Club, or that have AKC Limited Registration, Purebred Alternative Listing/indefinite Listing Privileges (PAL/ILP), or an AKC Canine Partners listing number, or approved Foundation Stock Services (FSS) breeds are eligible to participate. Bitches in season, aggressive, blind or deaf dogs or dogs suffering from any deformity, injury or illness which may affect the dog s physical or mental performance are ineligible to participate. AVMA Health Statement "Exhibitors should follow their veterinarians' recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations." Class Information (see also Chapters 6-9 of the Regulations for Agility Trials) The following levels and divisions are offered for Standard and JWW: Simplified Jump Height Card Process When filling out the entry form, there is a new section at the top of the form to designate whether your dog has a valid jump height card or if your dog needs to be measured. Please check the appropriate box so that the Trial Secretary knows whether to include your dog on the Dogs To Be Measured List. It is no longer required that you submit a copy of your dog s jump height card with your entry form or show it during day of show check-in. It is solely the responsibility of the exhibitor to check the correct measurement box, enter your dog(s) in the correct jump height, have your dog(s) measured before running (if necessary), and to have your dog(s) height card(s) available to present, if requested. Height Divisions Regular Preferred Novice A & B Novice Open Open Excellent & Masters Excellent & Masters Dogs must be entered only in Preferred or in Regular classes, with no crossover between them being allowed at the same set of trials. Obstacles All obstacles will conform to requirements as specified in the current revision of the Regulations for Agility Trials from the American Kennel Club (available at ** Rubberized contact surfaces will be used at the trial.** Owners are responsible for entering the proper height division. All heights are as measured at the withers. Regular Class(Preferred Class) jump height divisions: 8(4) inches... for dogs 11 inches and under 20(16) inches.. for dogs 22 inches and under 12(8) inches... for dogs 14 inches and under 24(20) inches.. for dogs over 22 inches 16(12) inches.. for dogs 18 inches and under 26 inches... at owner s discretion (n/a Preferred) Dogs entered in Preferred classes must jump at a height 4 lower than the minimum height they would be required to jump in Regular classes as listed above. 3

4 Trial Info/Updates at First Received Entry Method Entries accepted no sooner than Tuesday, March 4th at 8am Entries Received within the first 24 hours must be delivered by a multi-state or multi-national postal or carrier service, including but not limited to USPS, FedEX, UPS, and DHL. No hand deliveries can be accepted in the first 24 hours. You MUST waive the signature requirement for delivery, if applicable, or your entry will not be received. Entries for a maximum of ten (10) dogs are allowed in each envelope. Envelopes exceeding this number shall be treated as an invalid entry and will be returned. Entries close 4pm Tuesday, April 15th. Final confirmations will be ed or mailed to all entrants no later than 7 days prior to the event. All First Received entry rules and regulations as they appear in Chapter 1, Section 16 of the Regulations for Agility Trials shall apply. Move-Ups Dogs may be moved up to a higher class at the request of the owner. This request must be made to the Trial Secretary by 6pm on Monday, April 28th, by mail or (see form on p.9). Day-to-day move-ups must be requested in writing at the trial site before the close of trial on the preceding day. Confirmations, Corrections, Entry Changes, and Per AKC regulations, changes to entries may be made until the closing date. After that time, only moveups are permitted until the moveup deadline. Corrections to entries due to Secretarial error may be requested at any time; however, any day-of-show corrections cannot be guaranteed to be reported to AKC correctly!! Preliminary confirmations will be ed within 7 days of receipt of your entry if a legible, valid address is provided; PLEASE be sure to add Secretary@furrydogs.com to your address book/whitelist to ensure the reaches you, so you can check your information promptly! PARKING Exhibitor and visitor parking will be located on blacktop parking lots in front of Purina Event Center. Vehicles are limited to ONE PARKING SPACE. No ex-pens or crates allowed on blacktop, but are allowed on grass areas. No cones allowed in parking areas. NO PARKING IN ROADWAYS or next to building. THE GATE- WAY CLUSTER parking committee will be in charge of all parking for this event. RV PARKING There are seventy-six parking spaces located behind the Purina Event Center. Each space has 50 and 30 amp electric, with water and sewer hookup. An additional 48 parking spaces with 30 amp electric and water for filling tanks are available on the gravel lots located above the outdoor show site. The fee for RV parking is $25.00 per night (see RV parking application on page 14). The lower RV lot will be used only after the upper lot is sold out. There will be no RV parking on any blacktop lot. The GATEWAY CLUSTER parking committee will be in charge of all parking for this event. GROOMING & CRATING Grooming and crating in designated areas only. Grooming in the Purina Event Center will be 5 x 10 foot spaces. The fee for grooming with electricity is $30.00 for the entire event (see grooming space application on page 15). Reservations will be accepted until Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 12:00 noon. There is a limit of four (4) spaces per person. There will be limited free grooming spaces available with no electric, again with a limit of four (4) spaces per person. THERE WILL BE NO ELECTRIC CORDS ALLOWED IN FREE GROOM- ING AREA. Anyone found with dryers or electric cords in free grooming will face an event committee & will be removed from the building. Bathing of dogs is restricted to bathing area of the building - no dogs allowed in restrooms. The Purina Event Center will close & doors will be locked at 10:00 pm & will re-open at 6:00 am. Guards will be on duty. Dogs may be left inside the building on Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights only. 10 HERDING SEMINAR AND AHBA HERDING CAPABILITY TEST AT THE 2014 NATIONAL SPECIALTY Date Thursday May 1, 2014 What is it? An seminar introduction to herding in the morning followed by a herding capability test in the afternoon. Where is it? At the Purina Farms Herding Field, 0.5 miles from the National Specialty show site. The property borders the main show grounds but can not be accessed from there. It has a separate entrance before you reach Purina (i.e. closer to the interstate). Requirements. The event is for Eskies only. Dogs do not have to be separately registered with AHBA. You may use their AKC registration number for identification. Before dogs are permitted to be tested with the sheep, they will be required to show ability to be controlled by performing a recall and a stand, sit, or down while in the ring with the sheep. People herding ducks! This special event is offered as part of the seminar as a fun event and a way for people to better understand what we are asking our dogs. We will be taking pictures! If you wish to herd a duck, you must sign up below. If we have more people interested than there are ducks, priority will be given to those people who will be testing their dogs on the sheep. Lunch. We will be breaking for lunch. Box Lunches will be catered on site and are available for an additional fee (pre-order only). This is for convenience as there are no nearby dining options and we can t hold up the event waiting for people to return, the event will carry on. Your other option is to brown-bag it. Registration. Total registration is limited to 30 dogs and will be taken in the order received with payment. To allow as many people to participate as possible early registration will be limited to 2 dogs per family. If we do not reach the 30 dog maximum, additional dogs per family will be welcomed.
