Junior Showmanship Competition Novice Junior - For boys and girls at least 9 and under 12 years of age on the day of the show who at the time entries close, have not won three (3) fi rst place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. Novice Intermediate - For boys and girls at least 12 and under 15 years of age on the day of the show who at the time entries close, have not won three (3) fi rst place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. Novice Senior - For boys and girls at least 15 and under 18 years of age on the day of the show who at the time entries close, have not won three (3) fi rst place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. Open Junior - For boys and girls at least 9 and under 12 years of age on the day of the show who at the time entries close, have won three (3) fi rst place awards in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show, with competition present in the Novice Class. Open Intermediate - For boys and girls at least 12 and under 15 years of age on the day of the show who at the time entries close, have won three (3) fi rst place awards in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show, with competition present in the Novice Class. Open Senior - For boys and girls at least 15 and under 18 years of age on the day of the show who at the time entries close, have won three (3) fi rst place awards in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show, with competition present in the Novice Class. Master - For boys and girls at least 9 and under 18 years of age on the day of the show and who have won ten (10) fi rst place wins in an Open Class, with competition to be eligible to enter the Limited Class Competition. The calendar for this class will be consistent with the eligibility dates for the AKC Eukanuba National Championship. All juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master Class and may change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed, all participants return to the Open Class to compete for the following year. NOTE: Handlers must include their AKC Junior Handler Number on each entry. You may obtain your junior identifi cation number by visiting the AKC online at or calling the AKC,

3 4-6 Month Beginner Puppy Competition Puppy, 4 months & under 6 months One combined class, not divided by sex, will be offered for Golden Retrievers that are at least four months old and under six months old on the day of competition. An AKC Registration Number or AKC Litter Number is required for entry. A foreign born dog may enter this class if they are registered in the country of origin. Dogs are required to be vaccinated (including rabies) in accordance with their veterinarian s protocol. All of the puppies are exhibited in the same class and the only placements are Best of Breed (BOB) and Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed (BOS). Dogs that are owned or co-owned by a professional handler may compete in this class, but must be handled by a non-professional handler. AKC National Owner-Handler Series The AKC National Owner-Handled Series is a non-titling competition for dogs that are exhibited by their owners that are not professional handlers. All dogs that are owner-handled and are not solely owned or exhibited by professional handlers*meet the requirements for this competition. Exhibitors must declare their dog is Owner-Handled eligible at the time of entry using the checkbox on the entry form. The handler must be an owner of record according to the AKC s records as of the date of the show. Dogs may be co-owned with a professional handler but not shown by a professional handler as described further in this document. Eligible dogs will be identifi ed by an asterisk in the steward s book & the catalog. Dogs must be handled throughout the competition by an eligible owner. Professional handlers, household members and assistants to current professional handlers may not exhibit the dog in any competition during the entire show. Owner-Handler Best of Breed will be selected from the dogs that are eligible to compete in the Best of Breed competition including Winners Dog, Winners Bitch and winners of the non-regular classes. If the Best of Breed winner is Owner-Handled competition eligible, it will automatically be Owner-Handled Best of Breed. If the Best of Breed winner is not eligible for Owner-Handled competition and the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed is eligible, the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed will compete against the eligible exhibits of the other sex to determine Owner-Handled Best of Breed. If neither the Best of Breed nor the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed are Owner- Handled competition eligible and Select Dog & Select Bitch are both eligible, the judge is to choose Best Owner-Handled exhibit from the Selects and eligible Winners Dog or Winners Bitch. If one of the Selects is eligible, excuse all champions and non-regular class winners of the same sex and then choose Best Owner-Handled exhibit from the remaining dogs of the opposite sex including the eligible winner. If Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed, Select Dog & Select Bitch are not eligible, the judge may choose any eligible dog remaining in the ring including Winners Dog or Winners Bitch as Owner-Handled Best of Breed. DON T FORGET TO CHECK THE OWNER-HANDLED BOX ON THE ENTRY FORM. *Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a professional handlers organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay or received payment for handling a dog within the last fi ve years. Sweepstakes HANDLER: The handler of a Sweepstakes exhibit must be either the owner, co-owner, breeder or member of their immediate family as they are listed on fi le with the American Kennel Club as of the closing date for the show for which the Sweepstakes entry is being made. Immediate family is defi ned as husband, wife, mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter or legal domestic partner. Step children and legal wards are also included in this definition. In-laws and grandchildren are not considered to be immediate family members. No other individual may take the entry into the ring during judging or check-in. The following individuals are excluded from showing an exhibit in sweepstakes unless they are the sole owner registered with the AKC or co-own the entry with a member of their immediate family (as defi ned above) or a legal domestic partner: Any individual listed as an agent on any dog in any regular or non-regular class at this or any other show in the previous two years. Any individual with an Agent number including, but not limited to an AKC Registered Handler Number or Professional Handlers Association (PHA) number. To avoid confusion or question, it is recommended that a photocopy of the registration certifi - cate be included with the entry for a co-owned exhibit. Requirements for Puppy Sweepstakes Open to any purebred Golden Retriever, at least six (6) months of age and under eighteen (18) months of age on the day of the show, and which is entered in any of the regular classes at the Specialty Show at which these Sweepstakes are held. AKC Champions of Record are not eligible. Entry fee is $ Indicate your Sweepstakes Class with the age division in the space provided for Additional Class. Classification for Puppy Sweepstakes The following classes will be provided for both dogs and bitches. AKC and CKC Champions of Record and neutered or spayed Golden Retrievers are eligible. Entrants need not be entered in any other class. Classification for Veteran Sweepstakes The following classes will be provided for both dogs and bitches. 8 years & Under 10 years 10 years & Under 12 years 12 years & Over Division of Entry Money as Prizes Prize money for each Sweepstakes event will be determined from the total collected for that event, rounded to the nearest dollar. 35% of the total entry fees will be retained by the Club for expenses. Exercises performed and judged as in Novice Class. Dogs may be entered in another class or classes. Obedience entries must include dog s jump height if applicable. Rally ring size: 40 x 60. Jump Height Order Obedience and Rally classes will be run short-to-tall on Friday, tall-to-short on Saturday and short-to-tall on Sunday. Exhibitors entering classes with jumps are required to include their dog s jump height on the entry form. Tall to short will be accomplished with reverse catalog order for all classes. Every effort will be made to accommodate handlers with multiple dogs in the same class. Dogs Eligible to Enter These events are open to Golden Retrievers which have been registered with the American Kennel Club and are six (6) months of age or older (four (4) months for Four to Six Month Beginner Puppy Competition) or have an acceptable foreign registration number (subject to restrictions in Chapter 11, Section 1 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows). Obedience and Rally classes are open to dogs of all breeds which are six (6) months of age or older that are registered with the American Kennel Club or that have AKC Limited Registration or Purebred Alternative Listing/Indefinite Listing Privileges (PAL/ILP), or are approved Foundation Stock Service (FSS) breeds. Bitches in season may not compete in Obedience or Rally. Transfer Information Transfers will be allowed according to AKC Regulations, provided that the written request is received at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the trial. notice is acceptable. Pre-Paid Catalogs Catalogs may be pre-ordered by including $4.00 for each catalog with your entry fee and completing the appropriate spaces on the entry form. Pre-paid catalogs will be available at the show secretary s table. A LIMITED number of catalogs will be available the day of show at $5.00 each. Note to Exhibitors The Great Hall will be available to Obedience/Rally exhibitors on Friday, January 16 at 6:00 am. The Gateway Hall will be available to Conformation exhibitors for setup on Friday, January 16 from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Crating and grooming in designated areas only. A dog bathing area is provided by Purina. The Golden Retriever Club of Greater St Louis and its members and Purina Farms assume no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors, handlers, or to any of their dogs or property and further assumes no responsibility for injury to children. The Golden Retriever Club of Greater St Louis does not agree to arbitrate claims as set forth on the Offi cial AKC entry form for these events. Exhibitors should follow their veterinarians recommendations to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. A Recording Fee of $0.50 is required for each dog and an AKC Event Service Fee of $3.00 is required for each recordable single entry class at any Licensed or Member Club Show or Obedience Trial. A Recording Fee of $3.50 for the fi rst entry and $3.00 for an additional entry is required for each dog at any Licensed or Member Club Rally Trial. These fees are paid to the American Kennel Club. Canadian exhibitors must submit entries with checks drawn on US accounts or with International Money Orders in US Funds. Returned checks do not constitute a valid entry fee. The Show Secretary will add a $20.00 collection fee to the amount of each returned check. Subsequent returned checks from the same exhibitors may result in their being put on a cash only basis. No refund for duplicate entries or for overpayments of less than $5.00. Refund of entries, less $10 per entry, for bitches entered in Obedience or Rally that come in season after the closing date of this show may be obtained by sending a veterinarian s certifi cate to the Show Secretary by January 20, No entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifi es any condition as to its acceptance. Entries will not be accepted without fees or signatures. Changes, additions or corrections to entry forms must be received in writing or by or telegram prior to close of entries. Owners are responsible for errors in making out entry forms, whoever may make such errors, and no entry fee will be refunded in event of such errors or cancellation of entries after the published closing date. No dogs wrongly entered in a class may be transferred to another class except as provided for in Chapter 11, Section 6 of the AKC Rules Applying to Dog Shows: a correction may be made in the sex of a dog, or a dog may be transferred from one division of the Puppy Class to another or between the Puppy and Twelve to Fifteen Month Class at a show prior to judging, and except that dogs which according to their owners s records have completed the requirements for a championship after the closing of entries for a show but whose championships are unconfi rmed, may be transferred from one of the regular classes to the Best of Breed competition, provided this transfer is made by the Event Secretary at least one half-hour prior to the scheduled start of any regular conformation judging at the show. Dogs need be present only for scheduled judging and will be released if not needed for further judging. Dogs must be ready for judging. Neither the club nor its Show Secretary will be responsible or obligated to furnish any service for notifying exhibitors of their agents of Breed or Class judging. Judges need not wait for any dog holding up a class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging rings. All trophies must be claimed the day of the show. None will be mailed. The club reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value. All prizes offered by the Golden Retriever Club of Greater St Louis are through the generosity of its members and friends. Obedience and Rally Trials - Entries for Golden Retrievers only will be accepted until closing; all other breed entries will be put on a waiting list. At closing entries from other breeds will be accepted into the trial in order of receipt until the limit is reached. Food will be available at the Purina Checkerboard Cafe. No outside food or beverage is allowed on the Purina Farms property. Violators will be reported to the AKC. NO SMOKING permitted in the Event Center.
