1 Beaver Rodent Is the second largest rodent in the world. It is a semi-aquatic rodent that is primarily nocturnal. They are mainly known for building dams, canals, and lodges(their homes). Large sharp front teeth, front feet has claws, back feet are webbed, round body, large flat tail. Usually brown.

2 Cat, Domestic A domesticated animal that uses scent posts to mark its home range. Even though these animals are domesticated they stay largely carnivorous with a special gut to digest meats. These animals have many different vocal sounds from purring to screeching. They also have a rough tongue that allows them to groom themselves.

3 Squirrel, Black Is an animal that has a color morph to change its fur from gray to black. These small animals live in trees year round. This animals best tool is its tail they use their tail for balance, shade from the sun, and as a rudder for when they swim. This animals diet consists of acorns, hickory nuts, maple, walnuts, etc.

4 Chipmunk A small member of the squirrel family that use their cheek pouches to carry various foods of nuts, berries, seeds, etc., into their burrow or nest to store their food. This is where they hibernate but instead of storing fat they periodically go into their stash of nuts and berries.

5 Coyote Canine A member of the dog family they are smaller than wolves and sometimes called prairie wolves or brush wolves. These canines hunt almost anything from insects to deer. They are able to run up to 40 miles and hour. They have keen vision and a strong sense of smell and in the fall and winter they form packs for more effective hunting.

6 Deer A herbivore for which its stomach allows it to digest a varied diet of plants from twigs to fungi. The males are called bucks where to females are called does and the young are called fawns. These animals can run up to 30 miles an hour so they can avoid predators of coyotes and bobcats. Some versions of this animal has antlers. This animal is fairly big and tanned.

7 Dog, Domestic Canine A domestic animal that is related to wolves, foxes, and jackals. These animals use urine to mark scent posts to show other animals that they are occupying that territory. These animals communicate in many different ways scent, facial expressions, body position, and movement. They bury their bones and toys like their wolf and fox relatives stowing away a meal.

8 Fox, Grey Medium sized with gray and brown fur and a black tipped tail. They re tree climbers. This animal sleeps during the day at very rocky locations and are active during the night. They are omnivorous hunters.

9 Fox, Red An animal with orange brownish fur. An animal that often hunts for food but can adapt to eating garbage and pet food. It s tail helps it balance just like a cat s. It s the typical bad guy in children s stories.

10 Horse Males are called stallions, females are mares, and young ones are called foals. Domesticated animal used for transportation many years ago. They usually travel in groups of 3-20 with a mature male leading the group. Often used in heroic war scenes in movies. They are herbivores.

11 Mink They live in semi aquatic habitats. Minks have partially webbed feet which contributes to the fact that they are extremely good swimmers. Their fur sheds water quickly and people make and wear coats made of their fur.

12 Mouse It has a long snout, round ears, and a long hairless tail. This animal can be found at homes. It s legendary favorite food is cheese.

13 Muskrat This animal normally has brown fur and a black tail. The tail is half of its total length. Human likes to use the fur of this animal for clothing. When it walks, the tail creates a trail. It likes to spend most of its time in water and can swim underwater for up to minutes. Their hind feet are semi-webbed.

14 Opossum Adept tree climbers and spends most of their time there. Only pouched mammal in the U.S. This animal is a scavenger. They often raid homes and garbage cans for food. They play dead when a predator is nearby.

15 Rabbit This animal has long ears and a short tail. Hopping is the main way of transportation for this animal. It likes to eat all kinds of greens. One common misconception about this animal is it s favorite food is the carrot.

16 Raccoon This animal looks like it s wearing a bandit mask and has a ringed tail. It is nocturnal and uses its paws to hunt for food in the water. This animal has appeared in the very popular cartoon show called The Regular Show.

17 Rat Rodent Very similar to a mouse. It has pointy nose, round ears, and a long hairless tail. One difference between this and the mouse is that this animal is larger than a mouse.

18 Skunk A house cat sized animal that is black and white. Defensive technique against predators is emitting a foul smelling spray that is very hard to remove.

19 Squirrel, Flying A small animal that travels from tree to tree by launching itself and spreading its limbs so it can glide. This animal can cover up to 150 feet in one flight. This animal uses its leg to steer during flight and its tail to act as a brake when it reaches its destination.

20 Squirrel, Fox Its spends most time in forging food and roaming around fields. A large part of this animal s diet is acorns which has a great amount of tannins which is poisonous to many animals including worms due to this tannins it protects this animal from worms. The color of this animal is brown/ tan. You often see this animal climbing trees or wires.

22 Wood Chuck This animal is also called a groundhog. This animal can be found in fields, woods, lawns, and gardens. They eat mostly plants and do hibernate during the winter. The end of their hibernation marks the first day of Spring!
