Website- www.gtisc.org A lot of updates have been added to our Events Calendar and Photo Gallery. From the Rescue Side~~~~ Tails From the Hills As reported by Bella O Shea Woof, Woof, Woof! Bella O Shea, ace canine reporter, again reporting from Wild and Wonderful West Virginia and the doins on Goose Creek. Early August had some unseasonably Fall like weather for a few days. Boy was it cool but humid. Ed has had to pick a couple ticks off me

because I like going through the brush. The doxies have also picked up chiggers and had some have hot spots to doctor. Anyways, on to the news for the month of August.. Going to the races, my big day! I could have been a contender! You should come to downtown Huntington, WV, on the last Saturday in July each year for the West Virginia hotdog festival. They have hotdogs for sale, dog rescue organizations, doxie races, and all breed races. On July 31 st Ed reluctantly entered me in the all breed over 52 pounds race upon Pam s pleading. The entry fee will go to the children s hospital Do IT! There were only three entrants in the race of which two crossed the finish line. Not me! I never got further than five feet from the starting gate. I somehow got the impression that I was not there to race, but to greet the spectators, especially the children. Needless to say, my only proof of the race is my entrant neckerchief that Ed proudly exhibits on his office wall. The masked Bandits Well they are at it again! Pam s baby chicken flock of twenty six has dwindled to six! The raccoons have slowly but surely taken the chicks one at a time. They even ripped the double protective screening up to dine on our chickens. I excitedly go out every morning with the family to check on the birds and sometimes find what is left of the raccoon s dining frenzy. Ed just shrugs and says that it is just part of farm life and that raccoons must eat to. They need to find something else to eat! An electrifying August! In August Ed would sometimes let our two turkeys, Snow and Baby, out of their coup to pick grass and eat grit. The hen, Snow, is very friendly to all and very nosy. She likes to leave the barn area and explore. One night when it was time to be secured for the night Snow was not to be found. Ed called and called to her but she would not respond. We went looking and found her in the horse pasture near the electric fencing. I crossed over the fencing with no problem but on the return trip I had the shock of my life! I let out a blood curdling howl and ran for the house! I wouldn t return to the barn for several days. Ouch! I nearly wet myself. It was a shocking experience to say the least. A mind of my own Sometimes I am a free thinker. If Ed asks me to do something that I don t choose to do, I just crouch to the ground and pretend he is speaking in some unknown language. Try as he does, the request that he makes does not register until I am in the mood to respond. I just lie there on the ground and look stately. However I can t get away with it with Pam because she won t have it! Ed is just a big push over but I love him dearly. He, he, he The birthday girl Did you know that August is the month that my family decided was my birthday? We don t really know when I was born you know because I m an adopted girl. I know nothing about my real parents or my original human family. All I remember is Joan and my boy friend Diddle. I really miss Joan. I heard Pam say it would be nice to drive up and visit since She has not had a vacation in quite a long time. I will have to send a barko-gram to Joan requesting a special paw pass for Ed, Pam, mouse and myself. The other doxies and Poodie the poodle can stay at a dog kennel in Ohio. Back to my birthday, It really doesn t matter anymore. Anyway, I am officially four now and looking forward to spending the rest of my life down on the farm with Pam and Ed. I still take Pam for walks even though she has not been running due to not feeling well. She does look better. I am ready to run with her when she feels like running again with me. For now I will be happy to walk with my mistress wherever she wants to go. I love Pam. I found out something interesting. When Pam was a young girl, her hair used to be red like mine only a darker red. I am glad she is my adoptive Irish mom. That is all the howls, growls, and tail wags for another month. Try to keep your bowls licked clean, your toys scattered through your homes, and your people hopping. Love to all, Bella O Shea Bella the Reporter Club News and Reminders The board accepts with regret the resignation of the Vice President position from Coleen. Due to her hectic work schedule she decided to take time off from the board. She is helping from the background with her years of knowledge and experience. We thank her for the years of time she has put in on the GTISC board. We look forward to her coming back in the future. Joan Fiser has been appointed acting Vice President for the remainder of the term.

Tally Ling has been appointed as a Board Member, filling Joan s spot, for the remainder of the term. Please let Bob or Deb know if you can attend and help at RDO. Our next meeting will be Wednesday September 19 th @ 7:00 at Perkin s Restaurant, 20013 Rt 19, Cranberry Twp. PA in the back room. This location is on 19 right off of the PA turnpike and 79 exits.
