(Novices in these events have never shown any animal in Fair competition, which includes small animal, dog and horse projects.) Exhibitors shall be on hand and ready to exhibit at the time called for judging. Note: All exhibitors are required to wear the official show uniform of the organization they represent. Girls may wear slacks instead of skirts. NEW NEW 1. Animals shown MUST be owned by the exhibitor and SHOWN by the exhibitor in the Junior Livestock Auction Market Class, unless under or over weight. Only animals SHOWN by exhibitor in the Junior Auction Market Class will be allowed to show in showmanship. 2. ONLY the owner/exhibitor may groom and prepare their animals for Showmanship. 3. All entries in Showmanship MUST be entered by the exhibit deadline; exhibitors CANNOT enter the day of the show. 4. During the judging and placing, exhibitors are urged to remain alert at all times to qualify for showmanship points. 5. Poultry or Birds used for showmanship must have been shown at the Antelope Valley Fair in current year, in a standard breed or utility laying class. If a meat pen bird is to be used, the exhibitor must notify the Livestock Office and/or Barn Chair(s) that they will be leaving birds for the showmanship class so that arrangements can be made for a pen/cage to be available. 6. Rabbit showmanship exhibitors are to remain in area until showmanship is completed. 7. Rabbit Showmanship to be held same day as Open Show. 8. Rabbit used for showmanship must be entered in Open Rabbit show. 9. (Local Rule #23b & 24) A novice in this class has never competed in any showmanship class, whether large or small livestock, in Fair competition. 4 Master Showmanship Large Livestock Grange, 4 H & FFA Entry Fee: None PREMIUMS OFFERED PER CLASSES: Ribbons to 10th Place Rosettes Sponsored by: Don Cook, Left Corner Framing Note: Showmanship Jr. & Sr. 1st & 2nd Place class winners in Lamb, Beef, Swine, and Market & Dairy Goats are eligible for Large Livestock Master Showmanship. RULES: 1. Top two senior and two junior showmen for each species of animal will compete in Master Showmanship.. E hi ito a t sho thei o o a family members animal. 3. All ten exhibitors in each class will show the same species of animal at the same time. 4. Event starts on Wednesday August 22 nd at 4pm. 5. Each Exhibitor will show the following types of animals: Dairy Goats, Market Goats, Lamb, Beef and Swine. 6. Time limit: Eight minutes for each species of animal.. If the first or second place showman for any animal is unable to compete in the Master Showmanship, the opportunity shall then go to the next highest placing showman to third place only. 9. Each showman shall represent only one animal. If qualified with more than one animal, exhibitor must check in at the Livestock Office by Wednesday, Aug. 22, 10 a.m. Non-compliance will result in the decision being made by fair management. All exhibitors placing up to third place that may move up must check in at the Livestock Office by Wednesday, Aug. 22, Noon. SMALL ANIMAL ROUND ROBIN GRANGE, 4 H & FFA Entry Fee: None Rosettes to 5 th Place QUALIFICATIONS: The First and Second winners in Showmanship are eligible for Small Livestock Round Robin. 4H Junior & Senior FFA Novice & Advance Grange Junior & Senior The following animals will be shown during this event: Rabbit Pygmy Goat Dog Poultry (Chicken) Pigeon (Depends on participation)

5 RULES: 1. Event starts: August 26, :00pm In the R. Rex Parris Show Arena Exhibitors are to sign-in 30 minutes prior to show time. 2. Top two senior and two junior showmen for each species will compete in Small Animal Round Robin. 3. If the first or second place showman for any animal is unable to compete in the Round Robin, the opportunity shall then go to the next highest placing showman to third place only. All exhibitors placing up to third place that may move up must check-in at the Livestock Office by Sunday, Aug. 26, by 10:00am 4. Exhibitors must bring the same animal that they won their showmanship class with to the Round Robin event. (Except Dogs) a. Contestants cannot use their own animal during Round Robin showmanship. b. All necessary safety precautions will be taken into consideration to ensure the wellbeing of participants, spectators, and other animals. At the discretion of the Round Robin supervisor, if any animal is considered a threat the Round Robin Superintendent or fair management will pick a substitute animal. 5. Any showman not signed-in at the designated start time will be disqualified. 6. Each showman shall represent only one animal. If qualified with more than one animal a choice must be made by Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018, by 10:00am Non-compliance will result in the decision being made by the fair management. All exhibitors placing up to third place that may move up must check in at the Livestock Office by Sunday, Aug. 26, :00 noon. 7. All exhibitors are required to wear the official show uniform of the organization they represent and have an armband provided by the Fair. 8. Each showman shall show each animal represented for approximately 4 minutes, then rotate to the next animal until each showman has shown each animal. 9. There will be a separate judge for each species. Each judge will be provided criteria and will complete a scorecard for each contestant. 10. Scores from each species scorecards will be tallied. Winners will be the highest scoring contestant based on total points earned. 11. Each contestant will be judged on their showmanship knowledge which may include: a. Presentation and Handling of animal b. Moving or Leading c. Questions d. Show Animal to Best Advantage e. Poise, Alertness, and Attitude f. Appearance of Contestant g. Ability to Follow Instructions of Judge 12. No coaching from the audience or volunteers. This can result in disqualification of the contestant.
