Entries will be accepted as received until the limits are reached or until August 1, 2018 THERE WILL BE DAY OF ENTRIES (as space permits). The Barn Hunt Association, an independent organization, has created a sanctioned sport honoring the traditional role of dogs in ridding barns, homes, and properties of vermin. The purpose of Barn Hunt is to demonstrate a dog s vermin hunting ability in finding and marking rats in a barn-like setting, using straw/hay bales to introduce climbing and tunneling obstacles in the dog s path. Barn Hunt opens this fun sport to any dog, of any size, type, breed or mix that can fit through an 18 wide through approximately 22 high tunnel. Both AKC and UKC recognized the Barn Hunt titles. This seminar is to introduce you to the sport of Barn Hunt. All dog breeds can participate successfully in this sport...if your dog can sniff, they can Barn Hunt. Got Rat? From Instinct through Master, learn about this fun and exciting sport and how to start your dog off on the right paw for a long and successful career. This seminar discusses rules and beginning handling strategy, while developing skills that you will use to earn that first RATCH and beyond. Maximize your opportunity for success with your dog and build confidence and teamwork. Advanced dogs will work on harder scent discrimination and advanced tunnels. Novice dogs will be introduced to a live rat and practice 'finding the rat' in a tube while discriminating between that, a litter tube and an empty tube, better known as 'Instinct'. Climbing and walking on straw bales is required and going through a tunnel built of straw bales. Both of these will be explained and practiced. Got Rat Part 2. Develop a stronger relationship with your dog through consistent communication. Learn successful handling strategies to use while running your dog in the upper classes. This workshop will also help ready competitors by offering unique challenges for individual dogs using scent, climbing abilities, tunneling skills and cuing. Continuing to hunt when a rat tube is removed can be difficult and time becomes a distant friend to a rushed competitor. Calling a wrong tube can be frustrating and multiple rats take additional patience and focus on the handlers part. More advanced tunnels will be introduced.

2 EXHIBITOR INFORMATION All dogs must be on a short leash and under control while on trial grounds except while showing. FLEXI LEASHES, ELECTRONIC COLLARS, AND HEAD HALTERS ARE NOT PERMITTED at the clinic site. Please pick up after your dog and dispose of waste in appropriate containers. Check in start: 30 minutes before your seminar CRATING: There will be crating space available but please make sure your crate is secure as the dogs may be highly excited. Crating space is first come, first served. Crating in your vehicle is a possibility and might be encouraged depending on time of arrival. BITCHES IN SEASON Bitches in season are eligible for entry but will be required to be kept separate from all other dogs and will be run at the end of their class/trial. Entry fees for bitches that come into season will be refunded until closing time of the trial if you wish to withdraw. After the trial closes, entry fees will not be refunded. If bringing a bitch in season, please inform the trial secretary prior to the trial and inform all exhibitors at the judge s briefing. Exhibitors should follow their veterinarians recommendation to assure their dogs are free from internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. The show site is within the Cabarrus County and City of Concord servicing area ENTRY INFORMATION: A returned check does not constitute a valid entry. There will be a $50 fee for all returned checks. No entries will be taken over the phone. Make check payable to Southern Mischief Barn Hunt (or SMBH). Send entries & fees only to the trial secretary as entries sent to any address besides trial secretary will not be accepted. No event fee will be refunded if the event cannot open or be completed by reason of riots, civil disturbances, fire, an act of God, public emergency, act of a public enemy, or any other cause beyond the control of the event committee. Refunds are available until the closing date of the trial if you wish to withdraw. After the trial closes, entry fees will not be refunded unless there is an available entry on the waiting list. Refunds are available for injured or deceased dogs. Notifications of injury or illness must be made to the trial chairman or trial secretary within 30 minutes of the start of the trial. A veterinarian note is required to be provided to the trial secretary within one week of the trials. Entry fees will not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused or barred from competition by action of the Event Committee.

Do not let your dog(s) destroy or foul the rooms. No grooming or bathing dogs in rooms. Clean up after your dog outside too! Limit barking and other noise. Please respect others. For your protection, thoroughly check your room for previous damage before moving in. Report any previous damage to hotel before occupying room.
