2 Sam Cavalieri, like most others, found his start with fancy pigeons at the tender age of twelve. Apart from fantails, kings and various rollers and tumblers he had a very keen interest in the racing homer. The birds took up most of his time until, at the age of 16, work commitments got in the way and the birds were subsequently sold. Sam went on to purchase some birds again in 1983 as a hobby, which he enjoyed on and off for the next decade. In 1997 he joined the Victorian Pigeon Society and began showing Exhibition Tipplers and Danzig high flyers with great results. In 2000, Sam purchased a small family of racing pigeons and a clock from Mr Brian Street and started to rebuild his interest in the sport of Racing pigeons. He started racing pigeons in 2001 with the VRPU and took out 5 Fed places in the first year. Shortly after in 2002, he purchased birds from other fanciers and in particular birds from Maurie Wrinkler which were from the Bob Eaton bloodlines as well as Harrison and Buschaerts. The Young birds were raced the following year and won 1 st Fed and placed in 6 of the 8 races. Sam claimed 2 nd in the Young Bird Aggregate behind John Dismore. In 2005 his young Birds placed in four feds while in old birds he was placed in 8 Feds including 2 nd Fed from Avenal, Shepparton, Hillston and Deniliquin. In 2006 he replaced most of his stock birds. He purchased 4 pairs from Con Rebeiro, a Houben cock from Keith Saggers and after three trips to Ponderosa Australia birds were selected from the best Van Loon, Janssen and Van Bremen s available at the time It is regret that Sam offers these birds for sale as much time and work has gone into the breeding and perfecting of the pigeons. He also raced in partnership with Robert Taylor from 2007 with a 2nd Fed Dimboola, 2nd Fed George Whaley memorial and 2nd Fed Bookaloo (national) eleven Fed places in all. The following year,2008, the partnership took out 1st Fed Mildura, dropping four birds together with a velocity of 1087 mpm. then 1st Fed George Whaley memorial 1561 M.P.M. 1st Fed Railton (Tasmania) with a velocity 806 M.P.M and 1st Fed Bookaloo 950km clocking right on dark flying for just under 13 hours and 13 minutes with a velocity of M.P.M. His Australian families are based on, Goodger/Pape/Wickham pigeons Sam purchased many outstanding pigeons from Ponderosa Australia at great expense which are in the sale.
