2 What Franklin County Public Health does to protect YOU against the MOSQUITO! Franklin County Public Health does quite a few things to keep you and your community safe from disease carrying mosquitoes. We go out and look for mosquitoes in your neighborhood by setting mosquito traps. We test the mosquitoes that we catch to see if they are carrying any diseases. We spread a special substance called larvicide in areas where the female mosquito lays her eggs. Mosquitoes lay their eggs in still water and areas that hold water when it rains outside. We also spray a special bug spray that kills the adult mosquitoes in your neighborhoods using a special bug spray truck. We also rely on you to report areas where you notice lots of adult mosquitoes by calling (614)525-BITE (2483). The Mosquito Life Cycle Female Mosquito Adult Eggs Larva Pupa Male Mosquito
