Footnotes to Above Text All other controlled drugs are under veterinarian s DEA license (surgery drugs, etc.), including cocktails dispensed by a veterinarian. 1 Requirements of ATCP 16 are in addition to, not in substitution for, requirements of Chapter 453 and VE7. 2 Given that the Shelter may be considered the owner/client of the animal, and the veterinarian may be an employee of the Shelter, or a frequent provider of repetitive services to the Shelter, the required steps to assure that the Shelter has given informed consent are likely different than those required in the more typical client / veterinarian interaction. 3 The person delivering the animal to the organization providing care to the feral cat may be the person from whom to obtain informed consent. Alternatively, the organization receiving the feral cat may be considered the owner / client of the animal, and, in such case, the requirements for informed consent may be similar to those applicable to the Shelter / veterinarian situation. 4 The standards of care as set forth in ATCP 16 are general in nature relating to the care of the dog, and are in addition to, not in substitution of the Standard of Care for veterinary medical care defined at VE7.01(5). This chart is to provide general information only and does not constitute the giving of legal advise. Created by the joint task force of WVMA and WFHS members. Funded by the WVMA
