Nicki s Horse Stables
Meet Nicki! Girl of the Year Nicki Fleming is a natural with animals. She likes to be busy and growing up at Twilight Ranch there s so much to do! Nicki s favorite activity is going for a ride on her horse, Jackson. But first she has things to do around the ranch. It s full of activity! Nicki loves animals and adventure. And she finds both at Twilight Ranch. Nicki s puppy, Sprocket, is always up to something, so she checks out his doghouse to see if he s gotten into any trouble. She pulls carrots from the ranch s garden before heading over to groom her horse. Carrots are Jackson s favorite snack; he likes to nibble one while Nicki washes and brushes his coat. Just one more thing before we saddle up, Jackson, Nicki says. I ll get some hay down from the loft, so it s ready for you when we get back. She mounts Jackson and heads out for a leisurely ride over the pastures. At the edge of a great open meadow dotted with yellow wildflowers, Nicki pauses. Are you ready, Jackson? she says. Let s run!
Nicki shares her talents. Whether she s doing chores around the ranch, training Sprocket, or helping friends plan a big event at school Nicki likes to pitch in. It feels good! And she believes it makes the world a better place. But sometimes she takes on too much and has a hard time managing everything. To learn more about Nicki, visit americangirl.com/play.
It s time to build your story The journey begins when you open the box. Find everything you need to build your story, and get ready to start building! Remove the instructions and take all the bags of pieces out of the box you re almost ready to start building. Make sure you have your instructions handy! Let s get organized! Take all the pieces out of the bags and lay them out where you can see them. Be careful not to lose any. Pull the tab to take your American Girl mini figure out of the window. Now it s time to build your story!
Your buildable FIGURE Did you know you can personalize your American Girl mini figures? Collect them all, then mix and match pieces from each to customize them. Use the different parts and accessories to change their look and style. You can even create totally new characters that look like you and your friends!

54 Handling the Hay Making sure a horse has enough to eat and drink is a big, important job. The hay for Jackson is kept in the stable loft. To get to it, Nicki climbs the ladder and tosses down a bale. Living on a ranch is fun and hard work. 29

Congratulations! You re all done building but the story is just beginning! Now that you ve built Nicki s Horse Stables, you can tell her story your own way. Recreate your favorite moments, or build the next chapter in Nicki s tale!
Here are some ideas to get you started: Nicki may be in over her head when Sprocket the puppy arrives at the ranch. Can she train this energetic puppy to be a service dog? What skills does Nicki decide Sprocket should learn? How can she teach her wild-at-heart puppy? It s a beautiful day, and nothing sounds better to Nicki than a ride on her horse. She loves flying across the meadow on Jackson s back, hearing the horse s hooves on the ground. Does Nicki plan a special day with Jackson? What does she decide to bring? Should she plan a picnic? What happens when Sprocket meets Jackson for the first time? How does Nicki help her two favorite animals get used to each other? Do they get along or is one afraid of the other? What if the animals get loose and go an adventure together, and Nicki has to find them? Sprocket the puppy chewed up Mom s favorite flowers and dug the carrots out of the garden. Does he get into something else in the stable that he shouldn t touch? What does Nicki do? What if Nicki learns that a big storm is heading for Twilight Ranch? How does she take care of all her animal friends? Be a story builder! Anything can happen when you re in charge. What other tales can you come up with?
