Q10 Please include other improvements you would like to see at Paulus Park Answered: 156 Skipped: 236 # Responses Date 1 Roller Hockey Rink, Bike Racks 7/2/ :53 AM 2 new picnic tables/shelters 7/1/ :53 PM 3 Shade sails at beach, seating around the playground, shade at the playground 6/14/2015 9:51 PM 4 If built the amphitheater should be made available at much reduced rent to local non-profit organizations. 6/14/2015 7:50 AM 5 None. Lake Zurich can't maintain the parks and facilities they currently operate. NO MORE SPENDING. 6/12/2015 6:38 PM 6 creating access from the north and south edges of the park; improving the look of the main entrance is a good idea to 6/12/2015 4:41 PM 7 If buckthorn and brush were removed from the northernmost part of the shoreline, there would be a huge increase in enjoyable lakefront for park. attendees. Right now it's like a curtain of green instead of a view of the lake. there'd be additional picnic area between the Chalet and the water tower. I do worry that this Park is becoming chock- full of features- the risk for overcrowding and lack of just plain old open space increases with each added "amenity" I'm soso on the Ampitheater for this reason, besides being concerned with how much grading will need to be done to accomodate the theater and the seating area. 6/12/2015 9:55 AM 8 More Parking. 6/11/2015 1:30 PM 9 soccer field 6/11/2015 6:40 AM 10 The original intent of Paulus Park was to provide more open space in the village, as well as lake access. We are strongly opposed to the proposed developments in the park. Leave it alone! After all the whining about need for home rule, additional taxes, budget shortfalls, the last thing we need is to spend money on development of Paulus Park. Please refer to the 9 year battle Montgomery Ward fought to keep Chicago's lake-front parks as open space rather than building, building, building. 6/10/2015 6:16 PM 11 New bathroom and changing rooms. Improved sledding hill. 6/10/2015 2:46 PM 12 Can't think of any at the moment 6/9/ :38 AM 13 Please keep the sled hill and possibly improve on it. 6/8/2015 4:11 PM 14 The dog park is a great idea, but there is no need to keep the small and large dogs apart. If they are together it forms a larger area for all of the dogs. 15 After speaking with many different families about what would be a great addition to Paulus would be a pool would be a great addition. Right now we go to Barrington and pay for the annual pass. WOuld love to be able to have that in our own community. 6/8/2015 3:13 PM 6/8/2015 1:58 PM 16 More village events located in the park 6/8/2015 1:27 PM 17 Volley ball courts 6/8/ :59 PM 18 I'd rather see grant money spent to improve walking trails at Ancient Oaks. That's a park that has much to offer residents and of course it has wonderful oak trees. 6/8/ :47 PM 19 How about improving your buildings!!! 6/8/ :00 PM 20 The dog park would be greatly appreciated! There are so many families with dogs that would enjoy it. Dogs aren't allowed anywhere in LZ, so it would be nice to have a space for them too. More events would be fun too. Food trucks, expanded farmers market (new vendors i.e. flowers and crafts), street fairs with local and national vendors, dog agility classes offered by park district? and more rental options for lake activity. 6/8/ :19 AM 21 Parking improvement 6/8/2015 9:51 AM 22 Free Senior admission. The Village already is taxing us Seniors out of our homes and does virtually nothing to help us financially. After 30 years I can no longer afford to live in LZ, that's shameful. 6/8/2015 8:25 AM 23 If you do walking trails, also make them bike trails. 6/8/2015 8:02 AM 24 Digital sign near the entrance that displays Park and public event information 6/8/2015 7:06 AM 1 / 6
25 We would love to see a couple of soccer nets be installed. Would love to also have more of a cafe type food/live music area near park. 6/7/2015 9:59 PM 26 How about doing something for th downtown area as well 6/7/2015 9:58 PM 27 Washro facilit Washroom facilities improved and vleaned 6/7/2015 9:52 PM 28 Walking around the lake - directly around the lake, would be amazing. Having the band shelter would put us on par with other communities in the area which draw people in, (eg. Palatine, Buffalo Grove). 6/7/2015 9:47 PM 29 Updated bathrooms. 6/7/2015 9:40 PM 30 Updated restrooms 6/7/2015 9:35 PM 31 Swimming pool 6/7/2015 9:03 PM 32 The playground does not have shade.it has to be done. 6/7/2015 8:25 PM 33 more running trails (loop around park area), more public beach access 6/7/2015 7:46 PM 34 None. If this continues there will be no room for families or groups to hold picnics etc which is one of the pleasures of this park. 6/7/2015 7:28 PM 35 very good ideas proposed in this survey! 6/7/2015 6:40 PM 36 Doing a great job! Please don't allow dogs at Paulus Park or Breezewald Park though - dogs shouldn't disturb the peace of our lakefront parks. 37 More shaded areas for people to sit and relax. Especially for middle school and teenagers. It would be nice if there was a place for them. 6/7/2015 6:05 PM 6/7/ :41 PM 38 marina with boat rentals 6/7/ :35 PM 39 I know this is probably impossible, but I HATE the amount of geese and other animal droppings around the area. 6/7/ :19 AM 40 I very much enjoy the park the way it is. I have lived in this town for 28 years and do not see the need to turn our park into a circus of activities in an attempt to please everybody. 6/7/ :10 AM 41 More shelters for family picnics 6/7/2015 9:54 AM 42 Hot dog stand, concessions 6/7/2015 8:52 AM 43 I would like to see more family overnight camping, maybe with projected movie nights or a sort of Ravinia experience with music under the stars. We have such a beautiful park and I believe that it is under utilized. 6/7/2015 8:47 AM 44 Is the skate park really needed, wouldn't that be better for more parking? 6/7/2015 5:25 AM 45 Other entrances besides that one by where you go in right now. Depending on where you park, it can be a long walk. 6/7/2015 1:00 AM 46 More convenient way to get a canoe permit and closer vehicle access to canoe launch. Beach open earlier. 6/6/ :46 PM 47 Additional playground/swings with runner flooring vs mulch 6/6/ :12 PM 48 More permanent umbrellas on the beach 6/6/2015 9:30 PM 49 A swimming pool. 6/6/2015 8:56 PM 50 None 6/6/2015 7:16 PM 51 Make the swim area at paulus beach bigger with more fun inflatables. 6/6/2015 6:40 PM 52 Free excess to NorthBarrington and Hawthorn Woods families. 6/6/2015 5:27 PM 53 Longer beach season. The beach should be open every day until D95 starts school and weekends through labor day. 6/6/2015 5:03 PM 54 Kayak, canoe, paddleboat rentals 6/6/2015 4:05 PM 55 You can't think of anything better than to spend additional money? When all debts are cleared, then niceties can be discussed. Run the town like you run your household! 56 You can't think of anything better than to spend additional money? When all debts are cleared, then niceties can be discussed. Run the town like you run your household! 6/6/2015 3:48 PM 6/6/2015 3:46 PM 57 fix up to make prettier natural surroundings 6/6/2015 3:30 PM 58 NO dog park!!! There is already enough dog shit all around the village from ignorant dog owners and as usual no police enforcement!!!!!!!!!! 6/6/2015 2:46 PM 2 / 6
59 A community pool would be great! 6/6/2015 2:35 PM 60 Basketball court 6/6/2015 2:29 PM 61 The splash pad is small need improvements and smoerimes the equipment doesnt work. It would be great to have that extended to compete with mundelein pd spash pad. Maybe incorporate it j to the beach and sand somehow. A water playland with the beach sand and splash pad. Water slide or more activites for the beach. Extend it so people do not have free beach play direclt next to the paid beach. 6/6/2015 1:31 PM 62 Thanks for the effort and opportunity to provide feedback. 6/6/2015 1:31 PM 63 More community events at Paulus park over the summer. Concerts, movies, and other events to bring the neighborhood together. 6/6/ :15 PM 64 More soccer or baseball fields 6/6/ :51 AM 65 I think what is proposed is fantastic. Would love to see a dog park and the ampitheater (for plays and concerts). 6/6/ :47 AM 66 Improved consensions a with beer and wine sales, and a nice deck and/or pier with seating. Give us a place to enjoy our lake view with a drink and some food. This would fill a huge unmet need on our lake and would be a nice revenue boost for our village. Don't charge residents for beach use. We stopped visiting the park as much when you started charging for beach access when the splash pad was built. Charge visitors but not tax paying village residents. 67 Have free beach access for residents by showing drivers license. I would use the beach maybe once or twice a year, but it is not worth the bother to get photo ID beach passes for just a couple of visits. If I have to pay for the privelage, I would rather go to a pool. 6/6/ :39 AM 6/6/ :27 AM 68 A pool for lake zurich residents. 6/6/ :27 AM 69 I want to see more improvement in downtown, like more restaurant with seats outside, small stores, more life in downtown. People called our downtown" ghost town" its so sad :( 6/6/ :25 AM 70 Better and cleaner bathroom and shower facilities. 6/6/ :20 AM 71 Inline Hockey rink added 6/6/ :17 AM 72 Dog park please 6/6/ :16 AM 73 Forget the theater - we need a pool! 6/6/ :15 AM 74 Keep as much open space as possible 6/6/ :48 AM 75 If you do more improvement you need to close off Whitney rd. we can not have all that traffic going through out neighborhood. 6/6/ :47 AM 76 More entertainment 6/6/ :35 AM 77 Go back to free beach access for residents. 6/6/ :32 AM 78 More picnic areas 6/6/ :23 AM 79 Need multiple entrances, especially for major events to ease traffic jam entering and exiting the parking lots. 6/6/ :18 AM 80 Basketball court 6/6/ :17 AM 81 I would rather see improvements to downtown area. 6/6/ :04 AM 82 Na 6/6/2015 9:57 AM 83 More walking paths, that have the ability to be plowed in winter. 6/6/2015 9:57 AM 84 I love the amphitheater idea but I know the lpoa won't wven allow jet skis on the lake because of noise. I worry that we would build it and then not be able to have Bands play because of noise complaints 85 I don't think any of the improvements you have listed are necessary. I participated in the group in 2011 and it was a waste if time. Get done indoor buildings with basketball courts. That's what village needs! 6/6/2015 9:49 AM 6/6/2015 9:40 AM 86 Community garden area! 6/6/2015 9:38 AM 87 There is no need for a dog park in Palus. The park should incorporate better parking, more paths and areas to sponsor community events or rec programs 88 We would love to see the beach cleaned up...better sand, bigger area so you can attract more residents. Upscale amenities...better food selections and more attractions for older kids. 89 Improved bathrooms, water feature, more random seating. Free Summer concerts in park. Upscale consessions during events 6/6/2015 9:38 AM 6/6/2015 9:34 AM 6/6/2015 9:33 AM 3 / 6
90 goose poop cleanup on trails. better shading over playground and surrounding areas 6/6/2015 9:27 AM 91 A swimming pool, 6/6/2015 9:25 AM 92 An nice indoor facility to rent out for events would be ideal! 6/6/2015 9:18 AM 93 A couple of weeks ago when we were there, the bathrooms were closed. If they are not already under renovation, I would say improved bathroom facilities. 6/6/2015 9:10 AM 94 Landscaping with only native plants, no pesticides. 6/6/2015 9:08 AM 95 I would like to see the Band shell be used my area musical groups. ALL styles of music, not just a 3 piece rock combo. Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Jazz groups, local groups, kids groups. Get the community and it's surrounding talented neighbors on the stage and the people will come to listen. Everybody loves to hear their family members perform and this would be an awesome venue. Please make the band shell big enough for a 60 member group to perform. 6/6/2015 9:02 AM 96 Cheaper splash park and beach admission 6/6/2015 9:02 AM 97 An skating rink would be great when the lake isn't suitable. Also a reduced fee for residents to access the beach and splash pad. 6/6/2015 9:01 AM 98 Mini course for Frisbee Golf 6/6/2015 9:00 AM 99 None 6/6/2015 8:59 AM 100 Where will dog park people park? More trees in parks and village, replace removed ash trees NOW! No selling or transferring of park land to other private or public entities. 101 Any of these improvements may increase visitors when parking is already an issue at big events. I think parking improvements should be part of the plan 6/6/2015 8:54 AM 6/6/2015 8:48 AM 102 Pool 6/6/2015 8:46 AM 103 More beach access 6/6/2015 7:32 AM 104 Basketball court and swimming pool 6/6/2015 6:57 AM 105 Would like to see an artificial turf Lacrosse/soccer field. 6/6/2015 3:07 AM 106 Paulus park does a poor job of featuring the lake. Unless you're at the beach, it doesn't really feel like there's a big lake just steps away. Improvements are needed in the area of the existing fishing pier (north shoreline), perhaps with a nicer, larger pier and/or promenade. Add some seating there too. Also, the ground in that area gets messy when damp as I recall, so improve drainage if possible. On the east side of the park, the shoreline is mostly wooded and "closed off" to park users. Open it up some on that side; create another area for the public to congregate and enjoy the lake views/activities, perhaps with another pier and/or promenade along with seating/benches. 107 Canoe or kayak rentals would be great! The concession stand is fine for daytime use and the warming house is a beautiful building, but it would be great to have a bar & grill with outdoor seating with lake views. Maybe add a screened porch to the warming house 6/5/ :56 PM 6/5/ :37 PM 108 Concerts, beer/wine service 6/5/ :33 PM 109 More benches close to the park area and a cafe with good coffee drinks and smoothies for kids. 6/5/ :32 PM 110 More nature area- walking, beach, more play area for outdoor activity 6/5/ :19 PM 111 I would like to see improvements to the barn in Paulus Park which would really promote "curb appeal" to Rand Road to see a nice facility surrounded by a huge park. 6/5/ :12 PM 112 More seating areas (benches or tables) 6/5/2015 9:50 PM 113 Basketball court? The dog park would ruin the sledding hill and there is a much larger nicer dog park than what would be at Paulus less than 15 minutes away 6/5/2015 9:09 PM 114 ashpault you can rollerblade on. it is too bumpy 6/5/2015 8:28 PM 115 Remove the blockade in front of the barn. Leave everything else the way it is. Why place the amphitheater in the park so close to homes? Only usable for small part of year...park upgrades are a BIG waste of tax dollars - put it into pensions instead. 6/5/2015 8:13 PM 116 Stop charging to use Paulus Park. 6/5/2015 8:10 PM 117 Swimming pool 6/5/2015 7:53 PM 4 / 6
118 Keep it the way it is for now; with so many other more important projects where the money is needed (flooding issues, repaving of roads) more. 6/5/2015 7:53 PM 119 New updated bathroom & concessions 6/5/2015 7:53 PM 120 Parking lot improvements tree islands and burying overhead utilities 6/5/2015 7:48 PM 121 Flower/sculpture garden 6/5/2015 7:30 PM 122 Larger beach, longer beach season, more bike paths to get to the park throughout town, larger floating structures at the beach (like the rafts at crystal lake), dogs allowed, nature center (like veterans acres), nicer bathroom, movie screen 6/5/2015 7:21 PM 123 Fix up the parking lot and walking paths. Year round bathrooms 6/5/2015 6:53 PM 124 maybe a general use ball field, for soccer/football/baseball/frisbee 6/5/2015 6:48 PM 125 Parking around the lots other than the main one on Rand. 6/5/2015 6:31 PM 126 beach should be less expensive for residents particularly if the free beach is "at risk." Also, it's not worth the money - too many weeds in the water. 6/5/2015 6:27 PM 127 Free music in the park 6/5/2015 6:16 PM 128 Please tell me how the village can consider funding any portion of this project when budget issues are so tight and the state may reduce the village allocations substantially? 6/5/2015 6:11 PM 129 This is far fetched but an overpass for people to get to park from west side instead of waiting for the light 6/5/2015 6:06 PM 130 More seating and covered seating in playground area and and better maintained public/free open beach area. 6/5/2015 6:03 PM 131 I don't understand why there isn't a pool in this town!!!!! 6/5/2015 5:59 PM 132 Benches to watch kids in park 6/5/2015 5:57 PM 133 It seems that much of the work in parks lately has been to pave over open green spaces with items that aren't even used much. Keep as much green space as possible. Allow residents to walk with LEASHED dogs on paths in parks. Charge for a license to do so if that helps. 134 None, how fixing up the downtown Wauconda has nice places to eat. All we do is talk about the downtown. Oh and open more Mexican restaurants. 6/5/2015 5:51 PM 6/5/2015 5:47 PM 135 Stop charging residents for beach passes 6/5/2015 5:46 PM 136 More bathrooms 6/5/2015 5:38 PM 137 Upgraded park lighting 6/5/2015 5:35 PM 138 Beach improvements Theater Better concessions Pool!!!!!!! 6/5/2015 5:25 PM 139 Tennis or basketball courts 6/5/2015 5:12 PM 140 more picnic tables, more shelters, more grills 6/5/2015 5:03 PM 141 More music and movie events 6/5/2015 5:02 PM 142 More seating by playground. 6/5/2015 4:57 PM 143 Landscaping Walking trails Clean beach More village events (art shows etc) 6/5/2015 4:56 PM 144 N/A 6/5/2015 4:54 PM 145 If an amphitheater is included, the addition of a community theater or community band program would be a tremendous enrichment to the community. 146 #1 Priority... Amphitheater... will probably pay for itself... #2 A new concession stand. Allow beer to be sold in the park. FYI: Baggo can and usually is set up anyplace. Absolutely NO dog park. I don't want to step in anybody's dogs poop. 147 I LOVE the rain garden! There should be another rain garden built with shorter perennials (less than 3' high) that have a neater look to encourage homeowners to handle storm water on their own properties. We should plant more native perennials around the park to promote conservation as a whole and highlight the natural beauty of Lake County. 148 The dog park would be a big asset to the community although the current layout looks a little small. The additional paths and as much access to the lake as possible would be the next priorities for me. Even with 50% being covered by a grant I don't see the need for an expensive band shell. I'd rather see that money go to improving Paulus or better yet improving downtown. More town homes is not what the village needs. 6/5/2015 4:53 PM 6/5/2015 4:51 PM 6/5/2015 4:49 PM 6/5/2015 4:48 PM 5 / 6
149 small boat launch (sailboat) 6/5/2015 4:43 PM 150 Bigger beach area, more sand 6/5/2015 4:37 PM 151 More sheltered picnic table areas 6/5/2015 4:36 PM 152 Soccer field, basketball court, cricket pitch, roller skating rink, tennis court, improved concession stand and restroom. 6/5/2015 4:30 PM 153 Improved parking. 6/5/2015 4:25 PM 154 I really think less people and crowd pressure on Paulus Park is needed. the park is overused by non-residents and rentals. The oaks are dying a slow death. The green space should be increased. The parks system needs to be diversified. Restore Kuechmann! 6/5/2015 4:23 PM 155 Additional parking 6/5/2015 4:20 PM 156 Parking, each time we've attempted to go to an event. we have to park across Rand Rd. It's treacherous to cross even at the light. Hate Rand Road. 6/5/2015 4:15 PM 6 / 6
