5 Methodology The population was taken from the District of Vanderhoof property tax role and included only those who lived in Vanderhoof. The sample size was calculated using an on-line sample calculator. The sample population was selected using Excel to randomly assign a number to each household. These were sorted numerically and the first 283 households were selected. On Saturday February 23 rd, 2010, Katimavik volunteers called all 283 households. This was done between the hours of 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Those that did not answer were not recalled. Those that did answer were asked if they wished to take the survey, those that did not were not asked the questions. 5 P a g e
