2 ABOUT OUR NATIONAL CONFORMATION JUDGES 22nd Annual Fun Match Kay-C Lavelle (Hounslow Whippets) My love of dogs started as a little girl. Our family always had at least one dog. After pestering my parents I was given a Standard Poodle. I was in heaven. Phydeaux was my love. We attended obedience classes and went on to earn a CD, CDX, and UD, completing each degree in three straight shows. My show career ended when I went off to college. After marriage, my husband and I got our first whippet. She was a perfect family pet and adored by the entire family. Thus began my Whipppet years. Over the years I was fortunate enough to acquire several lovely show puppies. Breeders Emma Kovach. Phoebe Booth, and Pat Dresser all played a part in my show experience, along with other folks. I've been hooked on conformation ever since. In the years since showing Whippets I've bred and finished Japanese Chins, Chihuahuas, and Italian Greyhounds. CWA National Race Meet Match Mary B. White, Freespirit Salukis Mary White is an all-breed Canadian Kennel Club judge, currently living in Medina, Ohio. She had a successful career as a professional handler before becoming a judge. While her original breed was Dobermans, she and her husband are now best known for their Freespirit (Perm. Reg.) Salukis having won the American Saluki national and many other Saluki specialties with their homebred and shown dogs. Mary has judged in Europe, Asia and South America, as well as the US and Canada. Sunday Race Meet Match Robert Urban, Foxfire Greyhounds and Black & Tan Coonhounds I've been a coonhunter since age 13 and bought my first AKC Black and Tan in 1981, finishing her myself. I'm a life member of The American Black and Tan Coonhound Club and currently serve as our AKC Delegate. I've been on the Judges Education Committee since 1990 and have judged both Sweeps and Futurity at our National specialty. I am an AKC licensed Bench Show judge for all coonhound breeds and have had the pleasure of judging Sweeps or Futurities in the following other breeds: Borzoi, Greyhounds, Scottish Deerhounds, Whippets, American Foxhounds, Otterhounds, Bloodhounds, German Shorthair Pointers, Viszlas, and Weimaraners. I am judging Sweeps at the English Foxhound National this coming fall. Besides Black and Tans, I have owned and shown American Foxhounds, Greyhounds, Otterhounds, one Bloodhound and a Parson Russell Terrier CWA National Oberlin, Ohio
